    Thinking of Dystopias...

...and ponies, and potential crossovers. The probability of me actually writing this (or anything for the site) is still rather low, but I somewhat randomly remembered one of the story ideas I'd been thinking about a while ago. Well, that led to me remembering a couple of the ideas I had, and looking back at my old blog posts reminded me of many more, but that's not important right now.

    Headcanon Contributors

So... this blog is for keeping track of what, specifically, the stories on my Headcanon Contributors shelf have contributed to my headcanon. Because sometimes, it is not something obvious. In theory, this is something I'll update as I add things to that shelf. In practice, who knows?

Fake It Till You Make It (S8E4)

This reaction is super late, I know. But I was so disappointed in The Maud Couple when it came out, that it took me a while to want to watch again. However, I loved this episode. Not sure how much of that is because Fluttershy is the character I relate to most, and how much is the episode quality.

    The Fair Folk

(A note before we begin: I tend to use the words fairy and faerie in slightly different ways, depending on which type of entity I mean. If I am talking about a relatively friendly, Disney-ified being, I use fairy. If I want to talk about a more mythical, more dangerous kind of being, I use faerie. It doesn't really matter, general opinion today seems to be that the

    Caught Up?

So I finally watched the Season 7 finale episodes last night. I'd have to rewatch it before attempting to give any opinion on quality, but I do very much appreciate the increased historical lore that this season has given us. For the moment, I am happy.

Read-It-Later List: Reaction Blog #3 · 7:55am Mar 20th, 2015

It is currently after midnight for me, I'm bored almost out of my mind, and I have homework to procrastinate on. Looks like it's rambling blog post time again!

...I actually have less to ramble about right now than I expected, which is a bit embarrassing actually, given my apparent habit of going philosophical and ramble-y in blog posts around this time of night. Oh well. Off to the actual purpose of this blog, then.

Kindred Spirits
First up - a Random/SoL tagged with Fluttershy, Angel, and Sombra. Apparently, it is necessary that Sombra cuddle Angel. That's basically all I know about the story before reading.

And to be fair, that's pretty much all there is. As promised by the description, Sombra decides to cuddle Angel because he sensed how cruel Angel is. I feel kinda bad not having more to say, but that's all I've got. I always feel so guilty mentioning a story only to dislike it... moving on.

(Edit: Removed a sentence because for some reason I mistook the SoL tag for a Comedy tag... no clue why, guess midnight's not the best time for me to write things after all. Anyway, given that I thought the story was supposed to be comedy at the time of reading it, I found myself slightly disappointed.)

Stretchy Coconut
I have to admit, since adding this to my list, I've been looking forward to it. I cannot come up with any good reason why a coconut would be stretchy, except maybe if it was a fake coconut made of rubber. I really hope that's not the reason in the story, that would make things far less intriguingly baffling.

...and not even a minute later, I realize I'm stupid. There is in fact, one very obvious explanation for anything this baffling. Discord - and in fact he does turn out to be the reason

Also, I feel I have to note that the line below amuses me more than it probably should.

“This coconut appears to be stretchy.”

I like how Discord is written in this story. He is written in such a way that my mind more-or-less automatically reads the lines in his voice from the show. This is a fairly rare phenomenon for me; the last time I remember it happening was for a certain Doctor Who comic I ended up buying.

...Oh good heavens, the last three lines. An obvious sort of thing to happen in retrospect but yet not something I was expecting. I am pleased. In fact, I am very pleased. However, I am not sufficiently baffled or entertained to place it on one of my special bookshelves, so I shall just let the story go with an upvote and a smile.

I'm not going to be 'reviewing' another story tonight, because the next one on my list is tagged Sad, and I'm not sure if I want the mood whiplash right now.

I just realized I probably read more 'Random' stories than most people do. I'm also probably way too easily entertained. Make of that what you will.

Is anybody reading this? I sure don't know! :derpytongue2:

Edit 4/20/2015:

Next up! (probably)
1. A Lot to Think About - Sad / Alternate Universe - chronicLurker
2. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger - Sad - A Hoof-ful of Dust
3. To the Sun - Slice of Life - Titanium Dragon
4. Twilight Meets Herself - Comedy / Random - Foals Errand
5. Fluttershy Gets Harassed by A Red and Black Alicorn - Sex / Random (Teen) - FamousLastWords

Note to self: I am not allowed to read any more pony stories until I read and review at least one of these. Or until I write that story for Majin Syeekoh that I was talking about in the comments. Whichever of those happens first.

Hmmm. I always appreciate reviews of my stories, but I feel like I have to point out that 'Kindred Spirits' is not tagged Comedy. It's tagged Random/Slice of Life.

I do appreciate that you enjoyed 'Stretchy Coconut', though.

2893668 Ah, indeed. I'm... not sure how I messed that up. *runs off to fix*

'Stretchy Coconut' is one of those stories I felt like I had to read for the premise... I'm attracted to silly things like that, it would seem.

2893668 Should I attempt to write a silly story in penance for messing up your story's tags? (so many ideas... so little motivation)

2893685 You don't have do if you don't want to.

But it would be funny if you did.

2893686 Any idea suggestions, or should I just pick a word off my list of obscure words to center the story around? This may just be late-at-night me talking, but I kinda want to write something for that reason. It would be funny.

2893765 yes, just mix random words and make a story out of it

I just realized I probably read more 'Random' stories than most people do. I'm also probably way too easily entertained. Make of that what you will.

Is anybody reading this? I sure don't know! :derpytongue2:

I seem to read a few [Random] stories here and there, myself. If I wasn't using my phone right now, I'd be tempted to attempt some sort of a percentage correlation among the stories in my favorites bookshelf. (I can't filter bookshelf searches from the mobile version, or else I'd try to do it now.)

I'm also easily entertained. :derpytongue2:

For what it's worth, I read this blog post.
