Pre-Ponkology 201 · 10:01am Jan 14th, 2015

So, from what I understand, Mormons have The Bible, The Book of Mormon, The Doctrines and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price. But don't quote me on that. I'm so atheist, I live in Stalin's petrified colon.

Meanwhile, the Wonderfolk (and myself, especially) have Ponkology 101, Ponkology 102, Ponkology 103, Ponkology 104, Ponkology 105, and The Real Arrivederci Rings. It's basically canon Plonk, and I'm sure many of us (r-right?) have enjoyed no end of watching and re-watching them to get the full grasp of charismatic Ponky!philosophy.

Picture this... only with more existential ennui and lonesome sobbing

So, naturally, I've wondered if Donny Osmond himself would consider continuing them upon his return. After a swift P-Day e-mail, I found out that he was more than on board for it. In addition, it would appear as though he's given me the green light to set it up for him. A Pre-Ponkology 201, so to speak.

So, plain and simply, this is Phase 2 of a Q&A for all things Ponky... which the fuzzhead will undoubtedly address himself either at the end of this month or at the start of February. Who's to know? His return will come like a thief in the night is up to him.

What sort of things would you ask of this lemur's best friend? Whelp, I suppose it'd be best to put it in his words at the start of Pre-Ponkology 101. Only, y'know, with additional questions about the mission, his future stories, and his love of professional wrestling.

So, welcome to Pre-Ponkology. This is the part where you guys ask me questions. It can be anything: personal questions, general and sincere alike; questions about how I write or come up with ideas; questions about my experiences, Brony and Pre-Brony; questions about life, the universe, and everything... well, anything, really. It might not work very well--the variety might overwhelm me--but we'll try it out regardless. Ponkology 101, if you will.

I can't promise to answer all of your Qs, but I Pinkie Pie Promise to answer as many as I feel are interesting and relevant to me and my friends. A'ight? A'ight.

Ask away!

Ponky

So, there you have it. Plenty of opportunity to ask him about life, lurve, ponies, and his undying adoration for professional wrestling. Just think, in maybe 3 - 4 weeks, we'll all be hearing Mr. Rod Stewart Hair himself chatting it up about Italian bicycling, songwriting, pasta dinners, and where he was when Christ Benoit stood victoriously with Eddie Guerrero after defeating HBK and HHH in a triple threat match.

And for those of you who could care less, before you unsubscribe to me, here's a word from our sponsors:

Live long and dash apples, ya melon fucks

P.S.: Expect the Fourth Chapter of TDD by this weekend.

Thank yousas.

I have two!

1. How many people kept in contact with you while you were away? Letters, e-mailing, etc.

2. How many pages are in the "Massive Missives" binder? Because it looks like a large number.

You don't state here specifically whether or not you want the questions dropped in this thread, or in the Plegacy group thread you created. But it looks like the questions are meant to go into the thread, so I'll drop them there.

Alrighty. Questions!

1: Let's get the obligatory, loaded questions out of the way: how was Italy? Where did you go on your mission and what did you do? How was that time dedicated, between your mission, free time, other activities, etc.?

2: I think we can all assume you've been keeping up with the music while in Italy. How many songs have you written while abroad, how many of these are about ponies, and when do you think you'll get around to making high-quality versions for all to hear?

3: How big of an impact do you think your mission has or will have on your writing? I suppose there's only one way to figure that out. Have you written anything while in Italy, be it pony fiction or original fiction?

Does Ponky Pronk when he watches Pronky Pony Pinkie Pie?

I have some actual questions about Mormonism, but I fear they are in poor taste... mainly because most of them stem from things my brother told me about Mormons, and he kinda doesn't like them. So instead, I'll simply smile, wave, and continue to Dash Macs just to piss off Skirts and Tchernobog. :rainbowkiss::heart::eeyup:

1. Where did the name Ponky come from?
2. Is this the real life, or is this just fantasy?
3. What is the most badass thing you've ever seen or read? What was the most adorable?
5. What happened to question number 4?
6. What great, new things can we expect from you?

1. How are you so beautiful?
2. How can I be as beautiful as you?
3. Cedar Trees?

Were seasons 3 and 4 of MLP (and EQG 1 and 2, even though they aren't canon) spoiled for you while on your mission?

What do your notifications look like? I've heard they purge after two weeks, but still.

1. How do you feel about Diamond Dallas Page?

...i got nothing

Ponky. Ponks. The ponk. If we're the Wonderfolk, he must be the Wonder Man.
Questions, right!
- How was the food in pasta land? Experiencing food culture is one of the things I find the most interesting about visiting other countries, especially breakfasts. (Clarification: I'm not implying the Italians eat pasta for breakfast)
- I just realized Wonderfolk is likely a nod to Wonderland, given your enthusiasm about Mr. Dodgson. So! Which of his poems is your favourite, and why?
- What's the one thing you missed the most while in Italy (if we disregard the people)?
- What happens now for you - what are your plans? Both on here, and out there.
That would be all from me, I reckon. Ponk on, Ponky! You the man!

1. How much ky could a Ponky ky if a Ponky could ky pon?

1. What was your favorite part of your mission trip?
2. What was the most profound thing you took away from your experiences in Italy?
3. Would you do it again, and if so, what would you do differently?
4. Any plans to do a reading of "The Hunting of the Snark?"
5. Not a question, but I'd just like to welcome you back.

1. Tell me more about the time you sang "O Holy Night", because it sounds like a bit of a story
2. "I could stand on the big toy / Like the sand on the big toy" <--- What the heck is the actual lyric here? You haven't answered this one yet so I'll ask again

Hi Ponky, welcome back and other joyous missives. I wanted to write but never quite worked up the nerve. thankfully I do have something I managed to work on and send to you so hopefully it will make up for my shyness.

As for questions I've a couple that hopefully won't ape other peoples too much.

- Have you found your time away from the fandom has changed your mind on it at all?

- Is it possible to go do works like this more than once? If it is, will you do this again, or do you think once was enough for now?

- What do you think of Skirt and co (The pre-readers/editors whose names escape me) work on TDD? What's it like seeing your ideas taken on by other authors?

1. What did you like about your trip? What did you dislike?
2. How do you feel about ponies now that it's been two years?
3. Will you ever go back and finish Mantles?
4. What kind of writing projects do you plan on doing in the future?

I've always been bad at asking questions, but here goes:

1. How much are you looking forward to catching up on two seasons of pone, a couple spinoff movies, and a crapton of comics? As a followup, has any of the above been spoiled for you?

2. What was your biggest takeaway from the mission?

3. How many times are you gonna slip up and speak to us in Italian?
3.1. Can we be certain you're not doing it on purpose?

4. Is pasta from Italy amazing, and how does it differ from pasta in the States?

Dear Mister or Missus Ponky: I've never heard of you before. I know absolutely nothing about you, and have never read any of your stuff. I do a lot of writing, but almost no reading at all, and I've been trying to fix that lately: if you could pick one of your own stories to recommend to new readers, which would it be? I'm not looking for your "best" or most popular work: It just has to be something you feel is a good example of your overall writing style, while still being (relatively) easy for a totally new reader to pick up.

Also: Since a great deal of time has passed, do you feel that your writing style, ability, or preferences have changed since you first began? When sorting through your own earlier stories, do they still feel like "you" wrote them?

As someone who isn't even a little religious, I suppose the biggest question I have is: What do you feel is the biggest thing you've learned--about the world, about yourself, etc.--from these past two years? And, at the risk of making this two questions, in what ways do you feel different for having had this experience?

Welcome back Ponkerton! My question goes along with what some others said:

How has your view of the fandom changed over the last two years? Your view of life and things in general?

How was Italy? Is it all beautiful just like what Ive seen in photographs? Is the food amazing? Whats the culture like?

Did you feel at all closed off or isolated from others while you were there, or do you get a decent amount of freedom to do things?

How do you think your life will change when you come back? How will you adjust, and what will be your living situation? Will you have a job or have to go find one?

Alright I think thats it. Ponky you are awesome. I cannot even begin to describe your radness and glory. Skirts is okay too :D

2D

Hey Ponky! Well, not hey, since you're not back yet. I'll say hey when you're back, probably, maybe, if you have time, if the gods smile upon me.

Anyway, question time:

Understandably as you've spent the last two years on a sort of "religious mission", you will have perhaps learned a lot of grown as a person. What have you learned? Has your opinion of yourself changed? Do you feel calmer and more collected, perhaps closer to Mr. God? Moreover, after all the work you have done these past two years, was it worth it? Or do you perhaps think you could have had as big an impact, if not more of one, in another walk of life?

Kind regards and well wishes to our Ponkalord,

2D.

Dat jumping couch Lyra is totes adorable.:rainbowkiss:

1. So, how much fics and whatnot do you have to catch up on?
2. How so do you plan to catch up on the episodes you've missed? (Assuming you haven't seen any of seasons 3&4 and what you've missed from 2.)
3. Will you be doing anything related to a certain song towards the end of the season 3 finale? Or any other songs?

I'll try to think of more later.

1. Mayonnaise or Miracle Whip?
2. OTP?

I have some actual questions about Mormonism, but I fear they are in poor taste

I was Mormon, you could ask me anything and I wouldn't be offended, if you're curious

PONKY!!!
How was your mission!?! (And by that I mean "It was fantastic, right!?!")
How has your perspective on people changed over the mission?
What mission experiences have given you or inspired story ideas? (I can't imagine they didn't because mine did)
Now that you're going to be a full grown male dude, what's your plan for life?
What's your major? (If you've already chosen. You're going to BYU, right? (or were?) I'm there right now.)
If you could eat any food in the world right now, what would it be?
Can I have a hug?
Also, you know that skirts has been gushing about you for like... ever since you left, right?

Anyway, finish strong Elder! Hope to talk with you soon!

Hehe, Ask away. Having been a Mormon missionary myself, there is almost nothing you can ask that would be offensive (we heard a LOT of pretty interesting questions). And if you don't want to ask it publicly, you can PM me (or skirts if he's willing to pass it on to Ponky) if you'd like.

YAY PONKY!

1) How much did you keep up with the world of Pony while you were on your mission, if at all? Was that something you thought about, or did Pony become a low priority while away?

2) Were there times when you had an idea for a new story while you were away, and have been itching to write again?

3) On a more personal level, what kind of changes do you think you've undergone on the mission? I feel like that kind of experience really will change someone for the better, I'd love to hear just overall your thoughts on who you were vs who you are now.

4) Best sights in Italy? I've heard it's a pretty beautiful country, what were some of the best things you saw there?

Hap

I know it's taboo (or wasn't it recently okayed?), but did you try an authentic Italian coffee? They invented all the best kinds of coffee.

How's the culture shock treating you? (probably gonna have to give him this one once he's back in Freedomland)
What was the most outstanding experience you had during your mission?
Do you plan on rereleasing some of your older songs *coughloveisamimecough*?

Icantwaitgetbacknow!!!

Gosh questions. Questions are hard. Especially when so many have been asked. I have the feeling some of my questions aren't actual questions either. (I. E. Could you come to me in a dream from the heavens, with the angelic chanting coming from cherub versions of yourself, holding a new album of amazing songs?)

Hmm. Hmmmmmmmmm. I suppose one question that hasn't been covered is how surprised are you that people have gotten this excited for your return? I remember being worried that people would fade away (myself included) and there wouldn't be many people around for your arrival at Ponky Station. However, two years later and Skirts himself has driven the Hype Train right into that station to wait for you, and it's nice to be along for the ride. People are coming out of the woodwork and I'm impressed, so I can only imagine how you feel.

I'll get in on this.

1. How long does it take you to draw a kytoon?
2. If you could work together with one other brony musician, who would it be?
3. Do you have any funny stories about Bronyism coming up in conversation, or having to explain it to people on your mission?
4. What did your companions think of all this?
5. Did you give any talks in church? Do you still have them?

We don't know each other, but....

Welcome back! :pinkiehappy:

First of all, I admire you for your faithfulness. From what I gather, a LOT of people have written you (which is awesome in and of itself :yay:), and you have responded to every person, while writing on a train with no computer. That shows a lot of commitment and generosity (stamps). I'm not nearly as constrained, and I still have a hard time keeping up with old acquaintances. The relationship you have with the authors here is awesome, and it's cool that such relationships could form with nothing more substantial than the Internet and social networking to hold them up.

Alright, questions...

1. (Warning: May require long answer) I'm kind of curious as to what Mormans believe, and how it differs from Christianity. I know that the two are close, but I'm not sure where the differences are. Would you mind having a discussion on the matter? (Ponkology, separate blog, or PM, and I'll respond in the comments.)

2. ....Now, this next question is....somewhat concerning, especially considering the site we're on...but...well, there's this show that my dad was watching, and it featured a guy named Anthony. He traveled to different places trying out the local cuisine. After watching the episode in Italy, I have to ask, well...:unsuresweetie: Did you eat Rainbow Dash, too? :rainbowderp:

...If so, how did it taste? :trollestia: How does the rest or the native cooking compare to American?

Oh baby it's good to be back, isn't it!

1. Sorry I've been even less productive than Skirts. School'll do that. With that said, what are your plans now that you're back?

2. When are you returning to BYU and when can we meet up? I'll even buy the ice cream or something.

3. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

1 - What doth life?
2 - You're not one of Toulouse's talented, Bohemian, impoverished protégés?
3 - You just burst out of Mrs. Cake's chest. Your razor-toothed maw is covered in blood and entrails. Across the kitchen room floor, Pumpkin and Pound Cake lie in opposite directions, gurgling adorably between unassuming bites of pony poptarts. Which of the two foals do you crawl across the segmented tile on slimy tentacles to devour first?
4 - Innie or Outie?
5 - Sing "Fake Plastic Trees" by Radiohead?

1. What do you now know (deep down inside) that probably only Mormon missionaries ever learn?

2. My father said that France wasn't all that receptive when he served there. Did you find the people of Italy wanting to hear the gospel, and how do you think things may be changing (or staying pretty much the same) in Europe? (BTW, my Dad's in Cameroon, Africa on his second mission right now.)

3. What was your favorite teaching experience?

ok quick brain think ...question ...hmm ...got it ...

1.I really like your mane?!?

Ponky, you served in the same mission I did. I served in the Italy, Milan from August 2010 to August 2012 and the cities I was assigned throughout that time were Vicenza, Rimini, Forlì, Firenze 2 (Florence), Allesandria, Ferrara, and Pistoia. :ajsmug:

So my questions are these:
1. What cities did you serve in?
2. What was your favorite part of being in Italy?
3. Do you still know the mission hymn by heart?
4. What do you think of Nick Giangrosso? (I know you've had to have met him at least once during transfers.)

Ponky, are you still scared of driving?!
You must have flown on a plane right?!
Sadly it has not been a good 12 months for planes.
