    For the People!

By popular request, I've posted an epilogue to "Expecting." I hope it'll answer some of the more burning questions, but I often wonder if giving an explicit ending is better than leaving it open to interpretation.

    Back in the Saddle!

I'm back! I know it's been a little while. I had somethings to take care of. Or one thing, really.

    No, I haven't gone insane

I got my newest story posted. I hope it meets approval, gets views, likes, and all that jazz.

But this story is different. Mature, darker, bloodier.

I just wanted to let those of you who follow me that my newest story, "Nightmare Moon On Oak Street," is a horror story, but also that I haven't "lost it."

    100 crazies?!

I checked FIMFiction this morning to find I had 100 followers. I remember starting out thinking, "Wow, wouldn't it be cool to have 10,000 followers like <super-popular-author>?"

Would you like to hear another story...?

Now that "I Hate Apples" is finished, I'm ready for my next story. I'm already three chapters in, and I think it's gonna be a little longer than the last one. I'm trying something new, something to stretch myself with. A story unlike the others I've written.

    It's much, MUCH darker.

Thank you EQD · 6:18am Jul 17th, 2014

So I've heard that getting posted on EQD was difficult, but it brought in a few extra views to your story. I thought, "well, a few extra views couldn't hurt, and getting past this tough review process might really make me buckle down." As it turns out, the pre-readers over there are cool guys. When they give critisism, it's of the constructive kind, and they do it for free. That's a public service that deserves applause.

Now, if EQD generated an extra 100 views for me, I'd be really happy. So imagine my surprise when I log on to find it generated over 1000 views! So I'd like to thank EQD, and welcome any readers who hopped over here, from there.

My next two stories are already in editing. Getting them on EQD is hard, but if I'm gonna write a story, it'll be a good one.

Psh, you think EqD is a hard sell? It's half-Russian Roulette, half a college review board. Sometimes your guaranteed victory, sometimes 'tis impossible.

The new standard is The Royal Guard, get with the program :raritywink:

Honestly, the process didn't seem unreasonable. Maybe I got lucky? I've heard horror stories, but that wasn't my experience this time.

I didn't enjoy what they had to say because they wanted me to change the fundamental design of one of my stories, instead of just grammar.

I've heard the same horror stories, and been an editor for one or two authors who got seriously shafted by getting editors who...didn't quite fit the demographic, if you know what I mean.

Honestly, their system isn't that bad. Everything is set up so that a single bad editor usually can't buck you up. About as rarely, you see authors get handed that golden author who's a fan of the work and passes the story with little to no oversight...:rainbowwild:

Hmmm...

I wasn't there/didn't read the proposed changes, so I can't really say if it was right. My gut reaction would be to disagree just like you. If they proposed I change "A Roll in the Hay" to include sex scenes, or change it to a romance only focusing on Cheerilee, I'd just shake my head and hang up my pen (or keyboard). No way would I change a story just to get into EQD. That'd be like changing clothes to get into the cool kids clubhouse, and I'm just way too old for that pretentious shit.

2295288 No they literally wanted the characterization to change, stating I contradicted myself in one section or something (was a while ago) and that I would either need to fix one part or change a character, but I argued it was done on purpose and from there they simply said sorry. It was weird :ajsleepy:

2295288 Of course it's possible I misunderstood them or there was some kind of miss communication (it was early days for me on this site so it's anyone's guess) the PM is gone.
