Oh, God, I'm doing it again. · 1:10am Jul 3rd, 2014
So I have this problem. It's something that's cropped up repeatedly while writing Memories of a Phoenix. I think of a story arc, and certain bite-sized bits seem to make up a decent chapter, so I naturally lump them together and begin hacking away on my keyboard. But then I finish one of said bite-sized bits, and it's long. Really long. And it's got a lot of words. As in, more than I could have reasonably expected.
The next chapter I was going to post has, approximately, six, maybe seven, "bite-sized" bits to it, or "scenes", if you'd prefer a term slightly more professional. I've written the first two scenes. It's already 4000 words.
Yeah...if you've been following my story for a while, you know what's coming next.
Chapter split, yay!
This means I have to push back the action-y chapters. But this also means the narrative remains mostly coherent and I don't throw everything at you at once. I'm still working on getting a good bead on the optimal pacing for this story, obviously, and while I'm getting better at it...yeah, still with the unexpected chapter splits. And this new development is doubly annoying because it sets my Griffin Republic arc back even more. But! I've pretty much never stopped thinking about this story even as I've never updated this story in forever, and I honestly think this needs to be done. Even with the chapter "split", the next chapter will still end up at around 10k words, if not more.
You will, however, have to wait a little longer for the promised action-laden chapters. Sorry. The trade-off is that you all get a few more subplots introduced, and a much more substantial Equestria in the end.
Oh, and I'm not gonna quit this story if I don't get at least two chapters posted by the end of the week. I'll settle for just the one, now that I've got a lot more work on my plate with the current chapter. So no worries. Crappy update rate notwithstanding, you all will get your fix. Promise.
Aaaaand now it's time to drunkenly pass out before I try writing Discord and a certain somebody hanging out in Akumokagetsu's 8-Bits Bar. (Don't worry, Aku. I know your Discord can't sense the bar, or Ryan when he's inside it. When you meet Loki, you'll understand.)
As long as Ridge Dancer teats are there I am fine! God thats been awhile hasn't it.
2252656 There are no pony boobs in this chapter. (Or in any chapter, really, outside of that one time I used them for a gag. And because the Night-Captain of the guard curses like a sailor.)
But! There is Vinyl Scratch! Does that count?
2252723 Oh hell yes!
