I had hoped to keep Memories as close to show canon as I could, mainly using characterizations to fill in the blanks here and there (I've done pretty well with Tia, honestly, considering her continued exuberance over avoiding boring social schmoozing). The major show events would happen offscreen, with Nix otherwise occupied with different things. Yes, Discord's reform is an example. Yes, there's going to be an alicorn Twilight. Yes, the Tree of Harmony comes into play. As does Tirek, although he might have to wait until the sequel.
Like I said, I've really tried—in spite of the world-destroying godslayer in their midst—to keep the present pony world we know and love on track.
Then today's episode hit.
I promise to do my best to stick to the show canon...except when it comes to the gryphon kingdom. (Or rather, the Gryphon Monarchical Republic, but we'll get to that in a few chapters or so.)
Oh, and Gilda might not exactly be a scones salesgryphon. At least, not if her airship is any indication. But we'll get to that with the next chapter. I actually managed to write about a thousand words today, so you all might actually see the next chapter sometime before I die of lung cancer, liver failure, and old age!
Yay!
Also, I'm a horrible person for making all of you wait for more story. Really damn sorry. I am. I really am. I'll do my best to remedy it, but ultimately it requires my brain to be in a state of much bueno, not the no bueno it's been the last year or two. I'm still gonna finish the trilogy, no matter how long it takes.
This episode man, you know, it's hilarious. The episode itself was pretty good, if a bit rushed at the end. I love Gilda. In fact, her personality and design was a big inspiration for Iris, as well as Valda. Also, LOVE her voice actress.
After the episode was over, and I thought about the ramifications on my own story, I just burst out laughing.
So, the gryphons of gryphonstone were very greedy, bordering on dragon greed. Hoarding and coveting gold.
Man, if only I had a society of gryphons who were also infatuated with gold. So much so that their greed prompts them into actions that have negatively affected their society in the past. Gryphons that, I might make the offhand mention that they are descended from this particular kingdom of the boreas mountains? Maybe?
Dude, I'm super stoked that you were able to write. I've been re-reading Memories and can't wait for the next chapter. Sticking to show canon or not, I'm sure it'll be fantastic.
