Part 4 is up! Who's psyched? Are you psyched?! · 7:39pm Jun 12th, 2013
Are you ready for more adorkableness? More d'aww? More ducks? More puzzle names? More of poor ol' Blue Bonnet?
Well, I hope so, because...
Part 4 is back from the TheLastBrunnenG and it is published.
Also exciting news! The prologue to the western has been sent to another fantastic pre-reader, who has taken on the challenge of making sense of my Wild West adventure, which hopefully will be more like this, only funnier and less like this, which wasn't funny. Only time will tell.
Part 5 is being written, and Part 1/Chapter 2 of the Western is being written.
Also! While grammar and typing mistakes are not my strong suit, I am pretty good at story construction, plot/concept, and dialogue. If you have a piece and you're looking for a pre-reader or idea-bouncer offer, feel free to PM me.
Finally, I'm not sure how people do this, but I wanted to give a shout out to two stories I read and loved lately, mainly because one is something I could never write, and the other because it's exploring an era that I am discovering myself. Neither author asked me to do this, but I figure there's no harm in saying, 'hey, I liked this, give a look.'
Mayflies, by Cola Bubble Gum, is a sad one shot that deals with a part of Spike I've never seen explored before. Namely, how dragons age and hoe ponies age. I can't really do sad- I can do emotional, but for sad I find my mind wanders to silly too easily- but I know enough to see it done well. It's more wistful than weepy, but either way, it's gorgeous.
Strive by Croswynd is a very interesting take on Appleloosa, which is a place I'm reading up about as much as I can to make sure I don't make any obvious mistakes with my Western. What I like about it is not only putting together characters we haven't seen in a mix before, but actually digging into what makes them tick, and why they do what they do. It's a totally realistic look at the challenges non-Ponyville towns face when the mane 6 ain't around to solve their problems. Also, it's a Braeburn story that's not shipping, and an Apple Bloom story without her sister or the CMC, which is rare. Only two chapters so far, but I dig it. I dig it a lot.
Onward!
