I...I can’t keep this up, this life I am living right now is just ...*sigh* depressing, same routine day by day nothing new, nothing exciting, just a half-time job and a stupid college career that would not take me anywhere, I rarely hang out with friends and even if I do I’m still depressed, I find a bit of comfort and happiness watching My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, but I only watch it once a week and even though I love it I fell bad since I can’t talk to any of my friends about it, I mean I’m a closet brony if my friends find out about it... Well I don’t think they would like to hang out with a grown up man who watches a little girls´ show. I tried going to bronycon once, to find people that also liked the show, but I didn’t had the money for the trip... *sigh* ... I’m sorry... it’s just that... anyway I just want some way out... well not anyway out I mean I would never commit suicide... I mean that’s just quitting and if I have learned something in my life is to never do that no matter how hard it looks you have to keep trying until you make it, there is not actual reason to quit in your only life. What I meant by a way out was... some sort of adventure, something new, and I think I have found it: near my parents house there is a forest, I’ve decided to camp there for a while, it wouldn’t be a problem, I’m in vacation anyways so I will take everything I need and go there. I think the only reason why I’m doing this is because I hope to find...*laugh* I hope to be camping at the Everfree forest and I hope to be able to find...*laugh* I’m sorry I just can’t believe I think I might be able to find Ponyville or Equestria... is just ridiculous... I mean it’s a town from a children’s´ cartoon, it’s just impossible. I’m still going though I have some experience at camping so I don’t think I would get lost and is near my old parents house so there is probably people around.
I packed my things and went to the forest, once I arrived I went to my old parents house, -I still have the keys-, to revive some childhood memories, after a quick visit I headed to the forest. I begun to walk deep inside and begun leaving marks so I wouldn’t get lost I found a nice flat space next to the river and I settled my tent there. The first night I had a funny dream it was about what would happen if I ever got to Equestria, how would the ponies react to such a creature as a human, and how would they actually look like in real life. The next days weren’t really different just walking around the forest leaving my marks and sleeping where I could the only thing that changed where my dreams they were always pony-related but different, in each dream I met a different pony and they normally had the same personality as in the show, or in the comics and fanfictions that I’ve found around the internet. The days where pretty boring, I thought an adventure in the forest would be exciting but it was the same thing every day, I had found my old marks and I walked in circles for a couple days, I wasn’t lost though, I knew my way back but I haven’t found somewhere new to go. I had been there for about a week and I was already planning my return... well that’s what I wanted but my mind wouldn’t let me, at the tenth night I had the worst of nightmares, I dreamed about every gory or scary fanfiction that I had read and woke up in the middle of the night believing I was being chased by Pinkamena or by Big Macintosh, I was scared and I ran for my life, I ran from my childish fears that only existed in my mind, leaving everything behind: my map, my compass, my supplies, and even the marks I had made all over the forest. I stopped running by daytime and I noticed what I had done I tried to find my stuff but it was worthless I was completely lost and no one was around, the only thing I could think about was to keep walking hoping to find something or someone. I walked in vain for two days I was starving and I wanted cover, after the third day of wandering around I blacked out. The next thing I remember was the sound of hooves around the woods and I the feeling of something trying to move me or pick me up by pushing my side, after a while I only felt a small part of my back touching something while my arms and legs where ``floating´´ in the air I barely opened my eyes and what I saw was a blue mane defying gravity, I blacked out once again after that.
I felt comfortable, I felt like I was laying in a bed, and I felt the sheets over my chest, I was to weak to wake up at the moment, but I could see a bright light hitting my face, I knew I wasn’t at the forest anymore the leaves where to deep to let so much light get in, I also knew I wasn’t home my room wasn’t that bright not even leaving all my windows open. I was curious about where was I but I was too weak after blacking out to actually stand up, after struggling for a while I finally opened my eyes, I was in a unknown room but at the same time it looked somehow familiar, it was a really tall room, big windows and white walls, the bed I was laying in was really big, bigger than a queen size bed really soft and comfortable, I wanted to stay there for a while but I had to discover where I was and even more important how had I got there. I stood up and headed for one of the windows I had a really hard time walking and I was still starving, once I reached the window I took a look at the outside I saw an enormous castle town and I noticed that I was in the castle, looking at the whole town I noticed that the architecture was unlike anything made by men, I knew I’ve never seen it or read about it in any book but it seemed really familiar like something I had seen multiple times, I couldn’t really remember where I had seen it. I heard some murmurs that seemed to come from a street market, turned my head to see where they were coming from, what I saw shocked me, I couldn’t believe my eyes, what I saw there were... were ponies just like in the cartoon, they were talking and haggling around the market I couldn’t believe it, I mean they didn’t look like the ponies from my world and the only reason for me to know that they were ponies was the show. When I first saw it I was skeptical I thought it was a dream or a hallucination anyway I blacked out in the forest and this scene just didn’t made sense, I now knew where I was, I was at Canterlot I still thought it was a dream so I tried to wake up in any possible way I could think of, I pinched my arm multiple times and I punched my stomach I normally felt pain so I tried other way, I tried to force me to wake up trying to open my eyes more than possible, I tried to make a lucid dream since I though I was dreaming and I had knowledge of it. Nothing worked, I sat on the floor trying to understand what was happening and I was still starving, it was just amazing what was happening, even if I started this trip wanting to find Equestria I never really thought I would, and now I was there without even knowing how or who had got me there, when I remembered the last thing I saw before blacking out I was curious of why someone or something would had took me there, specially to Canterlot´s castle. During the time I was sitting on that floor I though about who or what had took me there and where was he or she right now, I also though if Ponyville really existed, and if it was close, and if the main characters of the cartoon would be there, I was really scared of what could happen at that place but I was also exited to think that I was actually in Equestria. After a while I heard the door open and I was wandering who could be there, what I saw filled me with joy it was the blue floating mane, the same I’ve seen before blacking out at the forest.
The blue mane kept growing and from it I saw a blue horn appear, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and I thought it would somepony else but when she entered the room completely I had no doubt, it was princess Luna, princess of Canterlot, of all Equestria, she had saved me in the forest and gave me a cover, she also found some of the things I left behind in the forest and brought it when she got me into the castle, she was magnificent I’ve never seen anything compared to her. When I first heard the door opening I stood up quickly, and when I saw her my only thought was to bow before her, once she got in the room she was shocked by seeing me awake, she was the first to talk: “Is thou feeling well now?” She asked, in her royal tone. I laughed a bit since it was weird to heard such a way to speak. I was mute, I was too impressed with everything that was happening to talk, so I just nodded. “What is thy name?” she asked. I took a deep breath and cleared my throat and I answered. “Pleasure to meet thou” she said. “The pleasure is mine” I replied. “Thou was laying at the forest when I had found thou” she said, “Does thou have any idea of how thou got there?” “I have no idea princess” I replied “How does thou know I am the princess?” she asked surprised. “I just guessed” I answered. At that moment my stomach growled and the sound echoed in the room, I was embarrassed but her reaction surprised me. “Excuse me´´ she said “I have not offered thou anything to eat yet, are thou hungry?” I tried to be humble but my stomach kept growling and I couldn’t hide my hunger. “Why won’t thou try this” she said as she handed me an apple. the taste was no different from the ones from my world so I ate it with pleasure. once I was done she asked: “what are thou?” ``I’m a human´´ I answered. her reaction surprised me the only thing she said was: ``how rare, I thought thou kind was just a legend´´ she had already heard about humans somewhere, but she mentioned we where a legend so I didn’t ask about the subject any further I was more curious about my surroundings and the creatures that inhabited them. I kept talking with the princess, while we ate the apples she had, for a while she insisted in asking me about my world and my kind, while I wanted to talk about her world, where I was now in she seemed to like my curiosity so she stopped asking and begun to answer. I tried to talk about Ponyville, and about the main characters from the cartoon but she had no idea of what I was talking about what lead me to think I had come to Equestria in a time before the time the show took place on. We talked until the sun was going down and she told me she had to go to ``do´´ something, I already knew she had to take care of the rising moon but it seemed weird that she didn’t wanted to tell me. Before going out she told me that I could sleep there if I was tired, she also said I could go out when it was dark but I had to be covered, for which she handed me a blanket, and that I had to get back to the room before sun rise. It shocked me that she would let me go out, anyway I was the strange creature in that world, but I think after all the questions I had asked her she thought I wanted to see everything with my eyes, which was exactly what I wanted. She gave me a last look and said with a smile: ``good night´´.
I watched the moon rising with delight, I was amazed by the fact that it was all done by the mare I’d just met, after the ``show´´ was over I waited for a while in the room, I had to make sure to go out at a time when no pony was awake so I would go unnoticed, after about three hours it seemed to be a good time to go I put the blanket Luna had gave me on and got out of the room. I had to crawl in all four so my shape would look pony-like, the castle guards were guarding the main rooms of the castle like the throne room and the princesses´ rooms so it was easy to avoid them, once in the gardens I looked back at the castle and got astonished by its magnificent look, it was unlike anything mankind had ever done. I walked around the gardens for a while when I got interrupted by somepony. ``halt´´ said the pony. At I was scared and I thought a guard had seen me but I stayed still, I though that if I ran I would be chased and then attacked. ``who is in castle grounds without permission´´ asked the pony. I slightly tuned my head so I could recognize my founder, once I turned I saw princess Luna and felt relieved and showed my face, she calmed down once she recognized me. ``it is thou´´ she said ``I see thy has decided to go out and followed my advice of covering thyself´´ ``good night princess´´ i replied. ``has thou enjoyed the castle grounds?´´ she asked ``actually´´ I answered ``I just got out of the room and I haven’t really seen anything yet´´ ``I see´´ she said ``would thou like me to show you around?´´ ``I wouldn’t like to bother you princess´´ I replied ``nonsense it would be a pleasure to show my domains´´ she insisted. ``the pleasure is mine then´´ I said``...after you´´ she told me there wouldn’t be anypony around so I cloud walk in my two feet instead of crawling in such an uncomfortable way, I stood back up and we begun to walk. we didn’t really talk while she was showing me around I was amazed at everything she showed me and she seemed to enjoy my emotion over even the most simple things. after a while walking she broke the ice and asked me about the human world, at first the question surprised me but I had no problem answering, after all she had told me about her world before and I thought I could do the same for her. at first I tried to avoid talking about the damage we were causing to our world but her upcoming questions made it impossible and I ended up telling her how we were killing our selves at will, she seemed shocked by my tales and wondered how could I be able to live in such place for which my answer was: ``hardly´´ she seemed worried about my answer and asked me why did I stay there if I wasn’t happy, I answered saying I couldn’t go anywhere better since that was my world. she noticed the sadness and the void in my eyes as I told her that, for which she stopped talking about it. there was a cold silence in the air for a while but she interrupted it again with the next question: ``earlier today I mentioned a legend about thou kind, are thou not curious about such legend?´´ ``now that you mention it´´ I said ``I do feel curiosity about it´´ ``would thou like me to relate such legend?´´ she asked. ``it would be a pleasure to hear it princess´´ I answered.
The tale Luna told me was amazing, it started as many others: with the phrase: ``many moons ago, this very land was facing a time of darkness earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns were just starting to get along but they could not seem to live with each other for which even after the three kinds decided to live together they all tried to go in the search of their own land, one of this searches reached the Everfree forest and the ponies who arrived there decided to go deep in the unexplored land, never a pony from any of the three kinds had ever entered the forest so the ponies got to an agreement where two ponies of each kind would travel in group to be fully prepared to anything the forest could give them for their surprise their findings where greater than they had expected. they had founded a new world, a world of unseen beauty and unknown lands, but this world was inhabited by tall creatures capable of walking only in two feet and building gigantic structures: the humans. At first the ponies were surprised by the physical differences but the ethical similarities, they tried to approach the humans but they were scared of the mythical creatures and ran away, the ponies tried to calm the humans but it didn’t seem to work except for one human who, in his fright, noticed the ponies shared their language, he then tried to talk to the ponies what calmed everybody else and let the ponies explain themselves.
The ponies told the humans they had found their land by accident and that they were equally surprised of the human appearance as the humans were of the ponies´, after the humans weren’t scared anymore they begun to share stories of their respective worlds they both noticed lots of similarities between their worlds except for one, a big difference that since the beginning had cursed the humans, it was their way of solving problems what made the difference, whenever ponies found difficulties they would try to solve them with the help of friendship or in an extreme case they would run away. The humans on the other hand had a different way to ``solve ´´ their problems, the method is old as time itself but we aren’t able to get over it yet, every time we face a problem we try to fight it or kill it, this has been that way since man walks and that was the way humans solved their when ponies were around.
This fact scared the ponies but they thought they could teach their way to humans for which they decided to stay in their world, where they had been received with open arms, some ponies decided to go back to Equestria and told the story of this newfound world, some were interested by the tale and decided to go and see by themselves.
Humans and ponies had become friends and the ponies helped humans expand their kingdoms trough alliances instead of war after a while humans were concerned, ponies already knew their world but they where ignorant of ponies´ for which they confronted the ponies, they were happy to hear that the humans were interested in their world and agreed kindly to let them wonder in Equestria.
The ponies guided the humans trough the forest and they all arrived to the pony land, the humans were mute at the wonder they were seeing and the ponies enjoyed their surprise face, the ponies kindly showed the land to the humans who were amazed by the show, all but one, one human who felt envy at the ponies and wanted to rule their land.
After the humans returned to their home world the envious human shared his feelings with the others who begun to feel the same he convinced them that they had control over the ponies and that they feared the humans, they planed a invasion to the ponies´ world and attacked at night leaded by the envious human, they wanted to expand their kingdom over the ponies land and weren’t willing to find other way.
Once the attack started the ponies where surprised their friends were attacking them directly, all they had thought to them, all they had lived together was now in the past, they tried to talk to the humans but weren’t willing to hear anything the ponies would say, the humans felt overpowered but they were blind before the facts even if they were more the ponies had pegasi and unicorns, against flight and magic they didn’t stood a chance but they tried anyways.
The battle was horrible as expected the ponies wined but they had to take many human lives, the ones who survived ran back to their world to tell tales about a dark land across the forest inhabited by heartless monsters who would kill any human who dared to enter their land.
All the humans were gone, all but one, the leader, the envious human who poisoned the minds of all the others, he was captured and kept alive by the pony army, Queen Harmony, mother of Luna and Celestia and creator of the elements of harmony, demanded an audience with the human leader.
The man was brought to the throne room where the queen expected to find an answer to the humans attack, something she did not found, the human was mad he wanted to rule this land and did not understood that he was already defeated, the queen tried to ask him questions but the only answer she found were wailings and grunts, the human was struggling trying to get free from his bindings. He suddenly became stronger as if he had got an adrenaline shot and got rid of the guards who were holding him, screaming and growling he tried to attack the queen thinking that by killing her he would win the respect of the ponies, the queen didn’t flinch to the attack and she just saw as two guards stabbed the humans chests while he was sprinting towards the herself.
Queen Harmony was disgusted by the acting of this human and decreed that no human would never be able to enter her land again and that no pony was allowed to cross the forest in search of the human land, to make sure her subjects will obey she put a magic barrier en the forest that would bring the worst nightmares to anypony or human who tried to cross it´´
The legend chilled me to the bones, my kind had betrayed their friends and tried to take over their land, most important I wasn’t supposed to be there and I was terrified of what could happen if I was discovered, I felt shame and terror at the same time.
I was paralyzed in fear for what Luna had told me, she tried to comfort me by telling me it was just a legend, and that she didn’t believed that I would have some kind of punishment for being there, at first I wanted to believe in what she was saying but then I remembered how I got to Equestria, I got lost in the forest due to the nightmares I was having, it made sense I had crossed the barrier queen Harmony put in the forest to keep humans away, if it weren’t for Luna I would probably had died in that forest, what scared me the most was to think what would happen if I was found in Equestria what would the princess do to me if she found out there was a human in her kingdom, in her castle.
Luna saw the fright in my eyes and decided to leave the subject apart by asking about things I had mentioned before the whole conversation about humans, one of this things was the mention I had made of Ponyville and the ponies I mentioned, she asked what was it exactly and after a while I felt forced to tell her everything about the show, well in fact I omitted a couple thing like the fact that it was from a TV show since I didn’t thought she would know what a TV was, the other thing I didn’t mentioned was anything about nightmare moon for two reasons in particular, first I stopped thinking that was the same world from the show I thought the only thing they shared were the ponies but anything else, I based my theory in the fact of Ponyville not existing and in the fact that the Luna I met didn’t seem to be jealous of her sister and didn’t seemed evil at all in fact she was extremely kind and lovely, I omitted the mention of nightmare moon to keep away from her any idea of she being evil.
We talked about the show for a while and I told her they were just legends in my world she remained silent to think about it, we stayed silent for a moment but I broke this silence by saying: "I want to go" "Back to thy world?" she asked somehow it was the right and the wrong answer, I was scared of what could happen to me if I stayed there and I wanted to go back to the "safety" of my world, on the other hand I wanted to explore the world I was now on. "in fact..." I answered "I want to explore yours" she was surprised by my answer, she thought I would run away as soon as I could, but my sense of adventure was bigger than my fear, after all I was bored in my home world, and even with all the danger I was facing I wanted to know more about this new world. "I would be glad to show thou where thou can go and give thou a map of the land" said the princess. I was surprised by this I thought she would make me stay hidden in the castle so nopony could see me but I think she thought it would be safer the farther I was from the castle. "thank you so much princess" I replied. she told me she would give me everything in the morning and told me to go to sleep, I went back to the room where I was staying since Luna told me I could stay there as long as I wanted.
The next morning I went to the market really early, the sun hadn’t risen completely, so I took the opportunity to find things that I would need for my trip there were some open stores and I felt forced to steal from them after all I couldn’t talk to the ponies without them noticing I wasn’t one of their kind, I stole food and clothes since I thought they were the things I needed the most, the only food I found were fruits and vegetables I told myself that would do, since I knew ponies were vegetarians I never thought I could find meat.
The clothes were almost my size except for the sleeves, since pony arms were wider than mine, it wasn’t that of a big problem and I kept them, I couldn’t expect to find something better. I returned to the castle before the light was bright enough for the ponies to see me, once in there I found Luna she had found a map and wrote instructions so I could get out of the castle unnoticed the rest was up to me, the rout the destination and the time it would take me. she gave me everything and handed me a backpack full of food, more fruits an vegetables, I was grateful for her gestures and said good bye promising I would return and tell her everything I discovered she seemed really happy about this, after all she was the princess so she had to stay in Canterlot and she didn’t really knew anything about her own world, I felt I had to tell her what I had found so she would know about her kingdom, after all she saved me even knowing humans weren’t allowed.
After revising the map Luna gave me several times I decided to explore a nearby forest, I took this decision based in a couple facts: first the forest i was heading to was in the opposite direction of the Everfree forest, I wanted to stay away from this one since I knew the only thing I would find was my own world, I also took this decision thinking that the forest would be a place where I could find food and shelter.
Getting out of the castle was really easy, Luna showed me the emergency escape rode and told me no guards would be around, the map was really detailed for which I could easily find my way to the forest I wanted to go and not the Everfree forest.
It was already night time when I got to the forest, to my luck I quickly found a cave, it was barely inhabited by a couple bats, I wasn’t scared of the creatures I knew that they would do nothing if I didn’t bother them. I quietly entered and laid on the floor I was so tired I fell asleep in no time.
I woke up the next morning with the light of the sun, the bats were gone, I stood up and decided to look for some water, wondering around the forest I noticed that the terrain was really hard to walk specially for a human as I walked I begun to thing that this journey would be really easy to a pony specially a Pegasus or a unicorn, but for a human it was hard and it would take more time to do than it would take a pony.
After a couple hours I finally found a river and drunk some water, I lit a campfire, which I knew how to do from camp when I was younger, and decided to stay there a couple days as I planned my journey in the forest, as soon as I made fire I noticed lots of woodland creatures running away in fear, I noticed some rabbits squirrels and birds but nothing to big what made me feel save and out of risk, I also noticed fish in the river, they didn’t seemed to be scared of my presence.
During the time I stayed in that little camp I planned what I would do, I had survived with apples and other fruits the time I had been in the forest and I saw a couple fruit trees while I was looking for the river, but I knew I needed something else to eat or I would starve to death, my first option were fish and it was really easy to catch them, for some reason they stayed put even when I stepped in the water, at first I thought they were death but then I saw them moving and felt confident about eating them, they tasted the same as the ones from my world but they seemed to be unafraid of the other creatures.
I wasn’t sure about the other animals they seemed harder to catch and I thought the were smarter than the ones from my world, which made me think it was wrong to eat them, after all ponies and other animals lived in peace in this world as friends, and since ponies are vegetarians they would never eat the animals.
I decided to stick to fish for a while and started walking again, the days seemed to pass really fast and I didn’t seemed to be advancing to much in my journey, I observed the animals behavior and noticed it wasn’t really different from the ones in my world for which I decided to eat them in a moment of need, I made a knife with a flint I found and some branches, I made basic traps to catch the animals I used the leftovers of my food to use as bait, this made some animals specially easy to catch.
While I was walking around looking for some shelter before dusk I found something amazing I bumped with an apple tree but this one was different from the others, it was taller and the fruit it gave was something I didn’t thought would ever be possible the fruits looked like apples but they were bigger and their color was the one of a rainbow, I had found a zap apple tree, as I could remember from the cartoon it was really rare to find one, specially one in the final phase of the zap apple cycle. I knew I had to pick them up real quick or they would disappear.
I set a fire near the tree to have some light since it was already night, as I climbed the tree I heard howling, at first I thought they were from wolves but then I remembered that zap apple trees were guarded by timber wolves, I heard them approach and I picked up a stick to use as a torch, as I waved the torch around I noticed the timber wolves backing off, I realized that since they were made with wood they were more scared of fire than other animals.
I collected the apples as quick as I could and after a while I saw them disappear in a zap, I didn’t slept that night, I couldn’t turn off the fire or the timber wolves would attack me and I had to stay awake to make sure the fire wouldn’t cause a forest fire, the next morning I turned of the fire gathered my stuff and looked for other place to rest, I found a small cave and entered quietly there were no animals so I slept there for a couple hours.
I woke up a couple hours later feeling hungry, I decided to give the zapapples a try, the taste was unlike anything found in the human world, I couldn’t describe the taste since it doesn’t compare with anything I tasted before, they were so delicious that I wanted to eat them all at once, but then I though I could take some to the castle and show them to Luna I knew she had never seen one since she had never left the castle.
I explored that forest until I noticed I was out of the map limits and I decided to go back, I had took my time to make to the end of the map and I didn’t knew how long would it take me to get back to the castle. I was exited to tell my adventure to Luna since I knew she had never left the castle and would love to know more about her kingdom, so after gathering my stuff from my last camp spot I headed back to the Canterlot castle.
It took me months to get back in the castle and I feel like the whole trip took me a year or something, when I was entering the castle from the door Luna showed me before going (I can’t believe I still remembered after a whole year) I saw some pegasi arranging the clouds I guessed they were preparing winter, I was lucky I got there before it started, I don’t think I would have survived in winter conditions.
I had no trouble entering the castle and getting to the room Luna gave me, all my stuff was still there and it seemed like no pony had got in. I had really long beard and hair so I looked for something to cut my hair and shave, I found an old razor blade, it wasn’t rusty or anything but I was wondering why I had brought a razor blade if I only planned of camping in the forest for a week or so, I also found my old Swiss knife I didn’t took it with me when I went to the forest I was returning from because I didn’t found it before. I cut my hair the best I could with the little scissors and I shaved, I then took a bath and changed clothes, night was falling and I saw as Luna raised the moon, I then checked my backpack again to notice that most of my food was rotten, well except from the Zap apples they seemed as fresh as the day I picked them up, I threw the other things away and took the apples to share them with Luna.
Once it was dark I got out to see if I could meet Luna and tell her everything, I put on a sheet to cover myself so the guards won’t notice I wasn’t a pony once in the gardens I was stopped by a thundering voice.
"Halt!" the voice claimed, I thought it was the end of my days in Equestria as somepony had seen me.
"Does thou not know that this are royal grounds" the voice continued "Thou has no right to be here. Show thyself!"
I was terrified as I slowly turned around to show my face, to my surprise in front of me was Luna with an angry frown on her face that faded away as she recognized my face.
"It is thou" she said as she smiled "It has been a long time since we last met. How was thy journey?"
"Is an honor to meet you again princess" I replied "It was really quite an adventure I can’t wait to tell you about it"
"And I am dying to hear it" she said "I... apologize for my rudeness, I thought thy was an intruder"
"No problem your majesty I would also be concerned if I saw a strange figure wondering around covered"
"I brought something from my journey that I want to share with you" I said as I showed her the Zap apples.
"What are these?" she asked worried.
"They are called Zap apples" I answered " I found them in the forest and their taste is incredible"
"Oh! I see" she replied as she examined the apple I handed her.
"They aren’t dangerous" I replied as I noticed she wasn’t confident about the apples. She didn’t answer, so to show her there was no danger I took the apple and bit it. She looked at me for a while like waiting for something to happen, I offered the apple again and after about a minute looking at my face she accepted it.
"This is... the taste is just...sublime" she said after the first bite.
I couldn’t help but to giggle at her reaction. Her face turned red and she tried to hide her shame behind her hooves which only made me laugh more.
"You see, I told you there was nothing wrong with them" I said.
"Thou said thou found this in the forest" she asked "What else did thou found there?"
I then started telling my journey to Luna as I talked I noticed how much attention she was paying, it was like she was hearing about another world, something she had never seen before and it was in her own kingdom under her own nose, I omitted everything about my food source apart from the zapapples since I knew she would find the idea of eating other creatures ratter weird or terrifying.
I felt happy to see her reaction and after I was done I told her I was planning on going on another journey and that once I came back I would tell her everything about that one too. She smiled with excitement and thanked me for my tales she then greeted me and we both went to sleep.
That night I slept like I hadn’t slept in a whole year.
I had been in Equestria for almost a decade, and I had developed a routine, I would go on a journey in a random direction I would chose in the map I had, it would take me about a year no matter the direction I took, sometimes even more, I would then return to Canterlot castle and stay there for a couple months before going out again. Despite it being a routine I actually enjoyed it a lot, every direction the map would take me was a different adventure, and this had made me forget about my old life, my own world.
Well except for one thing, despite the adventures I had, I knew I was lonely, really lonely, I had left behind everyone I knew and I spent most of my time completely alone, no one would join me in my year-long adventures, and I only knew one person where I was, I could only talk to one, this was Luna, she made the couple months I spent in the castle feel easier, better than anything else during the course of the years, I didn't felt lonely during the months I was with Luna, I had found a really good friend, and it felt different from the friends I had in my home world, even though i didn't knew why.
Luna became a really important part of my life in Equestria, and I noticed I had become important for her too, I was the only link she had with the part of her kingdom she had never seen before, and she was the only one I could be with, even if she wouldn't go in the adventures with me I knew she felt like she was there while i was telling her the story of my trip. I noticed something else while I was in the castle, I noticed Luna was also really lonely, as I had to spend most of the daylight time hidden in my room I still could look out my window and see what was happening, during this time I was able to see Luna, she would go around town watching over her subjects, she would sometimes buy some things, but I never saw her in the company of somepony, she was always alone and during the time I spent with her, I noticed two things, at the start i noticed how lonely she normally was, and after a while I noticed how much she cared about our friendship.
After some time we became really close, to the point she had stopped using her royal tone with me, I didn't knew if she actually knew how to talk "normally" or if she was just imitating my way of speaking, this happened one night that we were walking around the castle grounds, it was really late and we both decided to go to sleep to our respective rooms, when she said goodnight she said two things that really surprised me, her exact phrase was "goodnight, I hope to see you again tomorrow, Moon Fire.". The phrase surprised me to the point I didn't answer to this, when she noticed I was mute she talked back and asked me what was wrong, I said I was confused about the name she had used to address me, "Moon Fire" and i asked what it was and why she had used it to address me, she smiled when I made this question and her answer was something that really surprised me, she said she had thought about it for a while and that in the case I were a pony that would be my name, she also said I would be an Alicorn. This answer made me giggle, and my reaction made Luna blush as she thought I was making fun of her, I stopped laughing and told her it was an honor for that she would have thought of a name for me as if I were a pony, it made me think she considered me an equal to her and her kind, I then told her she could address to me as "Moon Fire" every time she wanted, we then parted ways.
It was after this that I noticed, thinking about the whole conversation in retrospect, that she had stopped using the royal tone on me, which made me really happy.
I was really happy about my new life, my adventures, my whole life in Equestria, and my relationship with Luna, I had left my old life in the past, and the only thing I now cared about was how I would spend my following days in Equestria.
I was really happy about my routine and my life in Equestria in general, I thought everything was going great, and it was for a really long time, I was happy there, I noticed Luna was happy too, and it didn't seemed like Equestria was facing any sort of danger, so I assumed everything was just fine, this was until one day.
I planned a new trip like I normally did and gathered all my stuff for it, I was going out when I ran into Luna, right when i found her she seemed happy to see me, then she noticed I had all my stuff and wondered about it. "I'm going on a trip right now" I said, that's when things got bad. "oh!" she said as her smile faded away from her face "I see." "I'll tell you all about it once i get back" I replied. "good" she said with an upset tone.
I didn't really paid attention to this reaction in the moment, I was focusing solely in my trip, which made me oblivious of anything else. "well, bye Luna see you soon" "bye" she replied with a tone that seemed more angry than just upset.
I was heading for the secret exit, and as I was getting out of the castle I realized what had just happened. "I'm an IDIOT!" I told myself. Luna was mad for some reason and I didn't really cared about this, further more I knew it was my fault she was mad, even though i wasn't sure how, exactly. I decided to go back to talk to her, apologize for being so rude and unresponsive, and try to find out what had i done to make her mad.
I went back in the castle and I headed for her room, as I approached I noticed two guards were just passing in front of the room, I started backing off so I wouldn't be noticed, but doing this made me hit a table behind me and make a jar fall, the noise of the jar breaking called the guards attention, and in a couple seconds they were staring at me, it took me about a second to think about it but I decided to run from them, I managed to get some advantage from them and I got out trough the escaping road and hid in the castle's surroundings.
The guards rose the security and started checking all the possible entrances looking for intruders, I stayed there waiting for a while since I wanted to get back in the castle so I could talk to Luna, but it was impossible, I had decided to postpone my trip until I could fix what was happening with Luna, but the guards made it impossible for me to enter the castle again so I decided to take on my trip as planned.
I thought to make the trip shorter so I could get back earlier but it was futile, this trip took me longer than any i had made before, I was out for over 2 years, this was because of the terrain conditions that made me travel a really short distance in a really long time, I used this time to think about what had happened with Luna, I started looking at the options.
I knew it was my fault but I wasn't sure why. I knew it couldn't be the surprise of me going on a trip without any previous notice, I had done that before and sometimes I would have gone without even she knowing. I knew it was my fault since I knew I was her only friend, and anything that made her mad she would tell me, unless it was me that had made her mad.
When I got back to the castle, after over 2 years, I hadn't figured out yet what had happened and I couldn't take it out of my head, it was night when I got back and the guards had already dropped the excessive security they had put up when i left. I entered my room and cut my hair and shaved, I then decided to go and look for Luna.
I first when to her room and I quickly noticed she wasn't there, so I decided to go to the gardens, I didn't saw anything when I got there and I almost dropped my search that night until I heard a *clip-clop* noise.
I turned my head and saw Luna sitting on the roof of one of the towers hitting it with her hooves like she was making the rhythm for a song, I waved my arms so she would notice me, and she did eventually, she smiled right when she saw and recognized me, she then asked me to join her up there, I accepted and started climbing the tower, I noticed she tried to help me with her magic but I was able to climb on so she let go.
once I got up there I sat next to Luna and greeted her, then it got to a really awkward silence, I didn't knew what to say, I wanted to talk about the reason she had got mad, but it was so much time ago that I thought she would had forgotten, I also thought that if I started talking about my trip she would get mad again.
The silence lasted for a while until she broke it with a question. "Why... " she paused "why do you think something, so big and beautiful as the moon obeys somepony as small and worthless as... me?" The question confused and surprised me, I quickly noticed that it wasn't what she wanted to ask but then she didn't wanted to remain mute so she just asked whatever came to her mind, I looked at her in the eyes and noticed that despite it wasn't the question she originally intended to make she still expected an answer.
I wasn’t sure how to answer it, and I didn't had much time to think of an answer, so I just let myself go and i let my mouth say whatever she could. "Why wouldn't it?" I started "you are, the kindest and greatest pony that has ever live in this land, and the moon just knows that you will only use that power for good, so she has no reason to not obey you" It took me a second to realize what i just had said, and I felt ridiculous, I looked at Luna again hopping to see her laughing and making fun at what I had said, but instead she just looked at my eyes with a pleased expression in her face, she was happy.
I opened my mouth to say something else, but before I could even make a noise Luna... she kissed me. My mind became blank at the moment and I wasn't sure how to react, I wasn't even able to move while we were kissing. The kiss lasted a couple seconds and then she moved her head back, my mind was still blank and the only thing I could think of, or do was kiss her again and I did, after the second kiss was done we looked at each other for a while mute, the only thing in my mind was still kissing her, and when I tried to kiss her again she backed off, I was mute, unable to say a thing and I could only watch as she backed more and more and then flew away, I stood up and tried to stop her but I was still mute, and when I was finally able to say something she was already to far away to hear me.
I just saw her fly away and I stayed there even when I couldn't see her anymore, after a while I decided to go back to my room, I was still confused, and I thought that it would become clear after I went to sleep, but I wasn't able to do it, I stayed awake all night thinking about it and I still didn't understood what had happened.
I spent the next few days sitting in my room thinking about the kiss, I stayed there for 3 days of only thinking and it still wasn't clear for me, during that time I looked out my window to see if Luna would show up, she didn't, I think she was thinking about it too. I was really confused, first, I still was unsure why she got mad or even if she remembered it, I didn't even got the chance to apologize, I don't even know why I still cared about it, it had happened so long ago, and anyway if she were still mad about it she wouldn't have kissed me, well that is the other thing, she kissed me but then she just left, that was the part that confused me the most, if she kissed me it should have been because she had feelings for me, but then she left, and I didn't knew why she had done it, I never really understood "women logic" and Luna behaved about the same way a human girl would.
I spent my days in my room pondering about the situation, after three days I realized that it was no use, and that I would never understand it, at least not on my own, despite being unsure of the whole situations along with my feelings for Luna, I decided that I should talk to Luna, since I hadn't seen her around town during the previous days I guessed she was thinking about it too and thought that maybe she would prefer to think about it with me, I know it doesn't make sense at all, it didn't even made sense for me at the time either but I the only thing I wanted in the moment was to see Luna.
It also took me a while to build up the courage to go and talk to her, I was really nervous, which was confusing for me, before the whole kiss thing happened, i was really confident with Luna, and I would normally never doubt to talk to her about anything specially if it was a problem, I would normally don't worry about what to say to her either, but, again, I was nervous, I spent a couple hours waiting, and I went for it when it was already dark, I wasn't sure what to say though, but i thought about what had happened before, I didn't knew what to say the last time I was with Luna, so I decided to let myself go, and she kissed me in response, which was something great, so I thought doing it again couldn't make anything bad happen.
I went to her room, it was the only thing in my mind and I forgot to cover myself up, luckily for me there where no guards around the rooms at the time, I guess i was somehow lucky to have waited so long, since if I had went out sooner I would have been spotted immediately, I reached to the room and noticed that she was there, I could see light coming from her room.
I got closer to the door and once I reached it, i knocked, I waited a while waiting for Luna but nothing happened, I put my ear against the door, I was able to hear the movement of sheets in a bed, but even after waiting a while I did not hear the sound of hooves on the floor which was stone, so it would have been loud, I knew she was there, but she wasn't wiling to open, maybe she expected a guard to say something in case he needed her for something, or the voice of her sister to ask her why she hadn't got out of her room in three days, she could also been expecting me but in any way she wasn't opening the room.
I knocked again and before even waiting for a response I talked.
"Luna" I said
"It's... it's me... I wanted to... talk to you, talk to you about what happened the other day. What I want to say is that..." I stopped looking for some sort answer becoming more nervous every minute. Nothing happened.
"I wanted to say that... I've been thinking about it the past days and though I am really confused, I don't think that what happened was wrong, I actually liked it, and... I think I...I like you... a lot. And I also like to be with you, so if you want to leave what happened behind and forget it I will agree, because I want to be with you again, I really do."
I waited for her to answer but I didn't even hear the sound of her sheets moving, after waiting for a while i said:
"I understand if you don't want to say anything but think about it please...I...I will go back to my room now"
I walked away from the door and after a couple feet I heard the door behind me open, before I could turn around I felt something grabbing my wrist, it almost made me fall as if someone had tackled me, I looked down and saw two dark blue hooves, Luna's, I looked behind me to find her crying in my back as she hugged me, I put my hand in her mane and started caressing it.
"I am sorry" she said between sobs.
Before I could say anything she continued.
"I am sorry for everything! I am sorry for being mad at you, I am sorry for not opening my door when you wanted to talk to me, and I am sorry for leaving right after we kissed, is just that... I was so confused, I wasn't thinking when i kissed you and then I didn't knew what you would think, and when you kissed me back I was so confus..." "Don't be sorry" I interrupted her.
"I was confused too, and I am sorry for making you mad in the first place"
she kept crying for a while and I released myself from her hug so I would be able to turn around and hug her back. She stopped crying after a while and once she did i asked:
"Why...why were you mad at me?"
She cleaned her tears with her hoof and said:
"I was confused about my feelings"
I looked at her with a puzzled expression so she explained
"you were constantly going in an adventure, and even though I liked your stories every time you left I felt lonely, specially since we spent all our time together when you were here. I started growing feelings for you but was too shy to tell you, so when you left for your latest adventure I wanted to tell you not to, to tell you to stay with me, but I couldn't. so I got mad at me for not being able to tell you and i was mad at you for not knowing I didn't wanted you to leave, which doesn't even made sense to me since it was me who said nothing and I couldn't expect you to..."
I interrupted her with a kiss since I didn't knew how to answer otherwise. after the kiss Luna continued.
"I was so confused about my feelings..."
I kissed her again and after i looked at her and said.
"I was confused too... but now I'm happy, happy to know you share my feelings" she hugged me again and we kept hugging for a while until i said:
"I...I think I should go to my room before a guard comes" I said letting her go and standing up she grabbed my arm and said:
