A story about the adventures of a void being and their creations/children.

A powerful being from the void, Corrosion Abyss, appears in the Equestriaverse. A former human now wields such great power and is now living in the void, but now he's not the only one from the void that everyone has to watch out for.

Proofreader is The Psychopath, and the title name was suggested by lumiere-angel-90, who had also made the title cover art.

In a place full of darkness, everything was quiet. There was nothing there for miles. Nothing except a small house with a flower and vegetable garden surrounding it. The flowers and vegetables were both growing big despite the lack of sunlight. The door’s house opened, revealing its owner.

The mysterious creature reached over to a water pail that was right by the door and started happily watering the vegetable garden first. They soon moved on to the flowers. After making sure both gardens were watered, the mysterious creature placed the water pail back down before taking in the smell of the flowers.

The entity sighed melancholically. “I’ve been in this void for who knows how long, taking care of my flower garden as usual. Nothing here except me,” they said, in a male, monstrous voice. The mysterious creature looked out at the darkness of the void, feeling lonely.

They had been in the void for a long time and hadn’t exactly been keeping track as, in the void, time doesn’t exist or have any effect. So, to the mysterious creature, it had been both a long time and seemed like a minute had barely passed.

He sighed again. “Being ‘Corrosion Abyss’ hasn’t been easy ever since I first ended up here. I wish I was back home performing surgeries on my patients, chatting with other doctors and nurses,” said the mysterious creature, depressed. “I miss being human, and I miss my family too.”

Corrosion Abyss was once a human doctor. Being trapped in the void meant he had been separated from his wife and son. His daughter was to come on the way in a few months, and he wasn’t sure if she had already been born, he still had plenty of time, or centuries had passed since he was lost in the void. All he could remember from the day he became what he was walking through the doors to the surgical room and finding himself floating in the void. The former human created a mirror in a moment of panic and realized that he had become a character he created so very long ago as a child. Realizing what he had become and what he lost, the former human fell into a deep depression, and being unable to escape the dark nothingness did nothing to improve his mood.

“I am relieved that I was able to master these abilities. Without them, life in this void would’ve been awful,” he said, sounding a bit relieved.

During the time Corrosion Abyss was in the void, the void creature trained their abilities. The land that Corrosion Abyss was floating above was created with his power as he decided that the void needed some color. He even created the flowers, plants, artificial sunlight, the house, and everything in it as well as many other things.

Corrosion Abyss stretched out their body as the void creature was trying to limber up despite it didn't need to. “Well, time to see which universe can provide me with some entertainment as usual,” they said.

Corrosion Abyss then floated towards the void until the void creature was only a few feet away from his home. Suddenly, multiple amethyst, purple-colored magic circles which disappeared as, what appeared in the air before in their places, were portals. Then, something started to appear in the portals. On each one was some sort of moving imagery of ponies and other creatures, their voices being heard through the portals.

Corrosion Abyss looked at one of the portals. “There’s the universe where there’s a cursed mare living in Ponyville and learning lessons from the Elements of Harmony themselves?...No,” said the void creature, shaking his head. Corrosion Abyss then looked at the other portals.

Over the course of time they had been living in the void, the void creature had figured out exactly where he was thanks to said portals. It seems that the void that Corrosion Abyss was living in was located in some sort of multiverse that was based on some sort of cartoon pony series that their son and a few other people he knew watched and read in the comic books. From what Corrosion Abyss knew and had also heard about the show from his enthusiastic son, the main characters were a group of six mares and a kid dragon named Spike. It did remind the void creature of the previous generation of cartoons he saw as a kid.

Corrosion Abyss was looking on as each of the portals were showing what was currently happening in the universes on the other side. “There’s also the ones where a weird creature named Discord is being an adoptive father to a green colt named Anon, a black and white cartoonish stallion that seems to act like he’s from an old cartoon, a universe where there’s a non-pony mare living amongst the ponies of Ponyville, an alicorn princess who was trapped inside of a library but is now free and is on an important mission, and one where Rainbow Dash is a pirate,” listed the void creature. Corrosion Abyss thought about it before shaking their head again.

The void creature had set the portals to be seen and traveled through on his side, but not on the other side as to keep others from noticing or accidentally traveling through. Corrosion Abyss had been watching some of the universes ever since as part of entertainment to keep himself from getting bored.

The void creature’s eyes landed on one of the portals. “Rarity leaving Fluttershy in charge of her store in Canterlot? Maybe,” they said, somewhat interested.

That portal was connected to the Prime Universe itself, which was the cartoon pony show that was airing and being read about back home. His real home. It was the one universe that the void creature would watch the most. There were still times he just couldn’t bear to look at it, however. Still, some of the adventures were entertaining after all, which made the void creature understand why their son was a fan. Last time Corrosion Abyss had heard about it, it was on Season 1. From the looks of it now, it’s now way past that season.

The void creature eventually made a decision. “I guess I’ll watch the alicorn one. It’ll be interesting to see how Twilight and Rarity’s relationship progress further in that universe,” said Corrosion Abyss.

They made all, except one of the portals, disappear before focusing on watching that one. Creating portals was easy for the void creature and he would’ve escaped the void, except for one problem, and that was the way Corrosion Abyss looked. They were afraid of how other creatures would react to seeing him, so he decided to stay in the void until a solution could be found.

Corrosion Abyss laughed at what was happening. “Those two are perfect for each other. Love is a beautiful thing,” they said.

The void creature watched as the Princess of Magic and the fashionista were having a conversation about something.

There was a sad sigh as Corrosion Abyss floated through the air on his back.

“So many years have passed by, and so many creatures’ adventures have come to an end,” said the void creature in a sad tone.

So far, less than six years have passed by, and Corrosion Abyss has spent them in the void, alone. He has continued watching universes and has even checked up on the human-based Equestrian universes too, some of which have their own forms of magic. There was even one that appeared out of nowhere and was connected to the Prime Universe through a magic mirror, but it could not keep Abyss’ attention. Some of the universes that Corrosion Abyss were watching either they had lost connection to or the adventures in that universe had ended completely. It had saddened the void creature/

“Even the Prime Universe is going through the same thing. Twilight and her friends’ adventures are over, and they’ve lived out their lives,” he lamented.

The void creature has been watching the Prime Universe even after Twilight had become ruler of Equestria. Time was progressing by fast in that universe as many, many years had passed by every time Corrosion Abyss had checked for some strange reason. Like the universe itself was trying to reach some point in time in the future.

They sat right up and opened up a portal, which was now currently viewing the non-pony mare’s universe. “Emerald Gleaner is so lucky. She’s not a pony, yet she has friends, a marefriend, a family, you name it,” said the void creature to itself. Corrosion Abyss sighed sadly. “It wouldn’t hurt to ask her for some advice on what to do about this.”

The void creature headed for the portal and went right through it.

Meanwhile-On the Other Side of the Portal

Emerald was having a conversation with Twilight about something, while Spike was reading a comic book, and some pegasus filly was drawing. The non-pony mare was in the middle of talking before her eyes shot wide open as, suddenly, the air behind the alicorn opened up as a hole that contained a void of darkness appeared, and out came Corrosion Abyss.

Emerald got into a battle stance. “Twilight! Behind you!” warned the non-pony mare.

She turned around and saw the void creature. “Aah!” shouted Twilight, jumping back. The alicorn quickly galloped over to Emerald’s side.

“Spike, protect Navi, and Navi, stay put,” ordered the non-pony mare.

Hearing that, the dragon kid stood protectively in front of Navi. “You got it, Emerald,” he confirmed.

The pegasus filly wanted to help out the two mares but decided to wait and see. “Okay, mama,” she said.

Emerald looked at the void creature as her form changed into that of a human girl. Not only that, but the now human’s hands turned into sharp claws. Emerald was prepared to fight if Corrosion Abyss tried to harm the others. “Who are you, and what do you want?” she demanded.

“I…NEED…” said the void creature, trailing off.

They waited for him to finish, wondering what the void creature wanted.

“...Advice,” finished Corrosion Abyss.

They were left speechless.

A Few Minutes Later

The void creature was now floating above a chair while the non-pony mare and Twilight were sitting on the couch, while Navi and Spike were by their sides.

Corrosion Abyss was currently explaining everything, while keeping out the human part, to the two while keeping an eye on Emerald as the non-pony mare was also keeping an eye on them. From what the two had told the void creature, apparently appearing from another universe, a zombie stallion and his pet zombie bunny, and some sort of differently-acting Pinkie Pie with straight hair had visited them a few months ago. It seems that the three’s presence had scared the four. With the event that happened a few weeks ago, they didn’t want to leave it up to chance that Corrosion Abyss was an enemy or some sort of terrifying creature bent on destroying them all or something in line with that concept. At least the misunderstanding was cleared up.

“So you see, I don’t know what else I should do. I tried gardening by creating and growing some new kinds of fruits and vegetables that grow in the void, and I read some new books I got from other universes, but neither helps anymore,” said the void creature, finishing. “What do you think I should do?”

Emerald was silent for a while, so the alicorn decided to answer his question.

“Well, you could try and make friends the old-fashioned way: Walking up to and talking with others. After all, there must be some ponies from those other universes you were talking about that might become friends with you,” advised Twilight.

“I’m a creature of the void. Who’d want to be friends with me?” said Corrosion Abyss.

“We would,” answered the alicorn, truthfully. She was afraid of them, but was feeling bad for the void creature.

That did make him feel slightly happy. “Thanks, but I’m talking about ponies from other universes. I bet anyone would either run in fear of me or try and fight me,” said Corrosion Abyss. “Finding a pony who wants to be friends with me is going to be hard.” The void creature sighed. “You two are lucky to have a family. If I had a family of my own, I’d…”

Suddenly, Corrosion Abyss had an idea. One that’d just might work.

“Wait, that’s it,” said the void creature.

Now the non-pony mare was confused. “What’s it?” she asked.

“I’ll just create my own family from the void itself. After all, I created my home in the void, so I should be able to do that too,” responded Corrosion Abyss.

Corrosion Abyss now feeling both optimistic and determined, opened up a portal back to the void.

“I’ll let you two know if it worked. Thanks for advice,” said the void creature.

Before anyone could ask them, Corrosion Abyss went through the portal with it closing behind him. Now that the void creature was back home, it was time to get to work on creating the first member of his family.

Some Time Later

Corrosion Abyss was working hard as he was currently using the very essence of the void itself to shape into being some sort of being. Right now, the void creature was putting on the finishing touches for the design.

“There. She’s finished,” said Corrosion Abyss. The void creature felt relieved as Corrosion Abyss was finally finished with creating their child who was standing right in front of the void creature.

The filly looked around, confused, wondering where she was. Eventually, the filly’s eyes landed on Corrosion Abyss, staring up at him, not scared of the way the void creature looked.

“Hello there, my name is Corrosion Abyss, your creator. Your name is ‘Little Fraise’,” the void creature informed. “You’re the first of my creations, but since we’re a family and you’re my daughter, you can call me ‘dad’ or ‘father’.”

Corrosion Abyss floated down to Little Fraise and carefully picked her up in his claws. Then, the void creature hugged the filly, but not a full hug.

“Even though I can’t hug you because of my current form, I’d like you to know that I’m so glad that you were born, my daughter. This day will be your birthday,” said Corrosion Abyss. “Happy birthday, Little Fraise.”

Little Fraise didn’t say anything, preferring instead to attempt to hug her ‘father’ with a smile on her face.

In someone’s empty kitchen there was a tray of chocolate chip cookies sitting on the counter. Suddenly, there was the sound of small hoofsteps before a chair started moving on its own as it was being pushed until it stopped in front of the cookie tray. Then, the culprit, Little Fraise, appeared as she climbed on top of the furniture, devouring the cookies with her eyes.

She gave off a sneaky grin. “Heh. Time for some cookies,” said the filly, reaching for a cookie.

Too bad for Little Fraise, the filly was caught before she could grab one as Corrosion Abyss had appeared, floating into the kitchen.

“Little Fraise. You can have a cookie after dinner,” the void creature informed amusingly.

Little Fraise’s hoof stopped in place, realizing that she was caught.

The filly turned to look at them. “Hey, daddy. I was just…” said Little Fraise, thinking up an excuse. “Um, I’m making sure that the cookies have cooled down?”

Corrosion Abyss chuckled. “Uh-huh? Now, go and wash your hooves,” said the void creature. “We’re having Vegetable Stew, Broccoli Casserole, and Cheesy Garlic Bread for dinner.”

She nodded before trotting over to the kitchen sink and washing her hooves. She then trotted to her table where the meal awaited her, the smell tackling her nostrils and making her drool in anticipation. It had only been a few weeks since she was created, and Corrosion Abyss had been hard at work teaching her basic necessities like math and safety tips, what he knew of the multiverse, and cooking as Little Fraise seemed interested in the subject.

“After we finish dinner, we’ll be practicing your magic, okay?” Corrosion Abyss informed.

The filly nodded. “Okay,” she said.

The filly was born with a special power thanks to the void creature. Apparently, Little Fraise’s abilities is that she can use some sort of void-based abilities, but they told the filly that if anyone else were to ask what it is, Little Fraise was to call it ‘Void Magic’ even though it’s not. The training is to help the filly master her abilities and not let them run wild by accident, and they’ve been at this for weeks.

Little Fraise looked up at the void creature with shimmering eyes. “Can we do it after we have the cookies?” she asked.

Corrosion Abyss nodded. “Of course,” they confirmed.

The little filly smiled. Then, the two continued eating dinner.

One Hour and Eighteen Minutes Later

There was an explosion as a boulder was destroyed, smashed into rubble.

The void creature was impressed. “Great job, Little Fraise. You’ve completely mastered your abilities now,” complimented Corrosion Abyss. “You even completed your training two minutes earlier than last time.”

The dust cloud over where Little Fraise was, settled, revealing the filly who was standing, proud of her work.

“Yay! That means we can finally travel to my first universe, daddy?!” asked Little Fraise, excited.

Before the training had begun, the void creature decided to make things interesting since the filly was close to mastering her abilities. He promised Little Fraise that if the filly can master her abilities and complete her training in less time than what the filly had completed it before, which was two minutes beaten of the one hour and ten minutes that it took last time, then Corrosion Abyss will take Little Fraise to travel to her first universe. Not only that, but in time, they’ll allow the filly to travel through the Multiverse by herself one day.

The void creature nodded. “Yeah, and you get to make the choice,” confirmed Corrosion Abyss.

Little Fraise cheered, excited for her first adventure. After some time cleaning up the mess and debris, the void creature had summoned out ten portals connected to random universes with his magic.

The filly looked among them before pointing at one that had caught her attention. “I want to go to this one!” announced Little Fraise.

The void creature looked at her choice. “Excellent choice, daughter,” he said.

Corrosion Abyss made the other nice portals disappear. Then, the void creature picked up the filly into their clawed hands, carrying her.

“You ready?” asked the void creature.

Little Fraise nodded, excitedly. “Yeah! Let’s go!” she exclaimed.

Corrosion Abyss smiled, and the two flew through the portal.

Meanwhile-On the Other Side of the Portal

A pegasus was reading a book in the park while eating a bag of chocolate cookies.

The book was about adventures, and she was currently in the middle of a story. The sunny pegasus brought the book down. “I wish I could go on an adventure too. I would definitely like to go to new places and make lots of new friends,” she said.

The sunny pegasus reached for another cookie, but then suddenly, a portal appeared, and out came the void creature and the filly, the two’s sudden appearance had spooked her, causing the sunny pegasus to drop her book.

He placed Little Fraise down onto the ground to allow the filly to trot around on her hooves. “We’ve arrived, daughter. What do you think of it?” asked Corrosion Abyss, wondering.

Little Fraise was silent as the filly was enjoying feeling the nice and relaxing breeze that was blowing around the park.

She smiled. “The breeze feels nice. Doesn’t it feel nice to you, dad?” asked the filly.

The void creature gave a fake smile. “Yeah. It is,” they answered, lying.

Corrosion Abyss couldn’t actually feel the breeze as he can’t feel anything physically, not even a hug. The void creature grew stuff to eat but couldn’t actually taste anything, get hungry, or feel full, and Corrosion Abyss also floated above a bed they didn’t need to use since they didn’t sleep. The void creature does the stuff anyway just to remember the sensations. The only thing Corrosion Abyss has are his emotions, but the void creature didn’t want to tell Little Fraise that and just wanted her to have fun.

The filly had finally noticed the sunny pegasus who was still there, and turned to look at her. “Hey, dad. There’s someone here,” Little Fraise informed.

Corrosion Abyss, hearing that, looked at the sunny pegasus too. “I see. She seems like a nice pony,” they commented.

She nodded, agreeing. “Yeah. Let’s go make friends with her, daddy,” offered the filly.

The void creature, seeing that she looked scared of the two, looked down at Little Fraise. “No, thanks. She looks scared of me,” said Corrosion Abyss. “Why don’t you go and introduce yourself? I’ll stay close-by in case something goes wrong.”

The filly nodded sadly, but then an idea came to mind. She smiled. “Okay. I’ll be right back, daddy,” said Little Fraise.

The filly trotted over to the sunny pegasus, ready to make a new friend. “Hello there. Sorry to scare you like that,” she said, apologizing. Little Fraise smiled. “It’s nice to meet you. My name is Little Fraise. What’s your name?”

The sunny pegasus calmed down a little. “My name is Light Angel,” she said. Light Angel then looked up to look at the void creature, scared.

The filly saw that the sunny pegasus was looking at her dad, and smiled. “Don’t worry about daddy. He’s nice and kind and wouldn’t hurt you or anyone else,” Little Fraise informed. “I promise.”

Luckily, Light Angel believed the filly and calmed down, but was on guard in case something went wrong. “If you say so,” she said.

Little Fraise turned around and waved Corrosion Abyss over. Seeing that the filly was waving at him to approach, the void creature floated over to the two.

Corrosion Abyss had arrived and had noticed that the sunny pegasus wasn’t afraid of the void creature anymore. “My name’s Corrosion Abyss, and I guess you’re not scared of us anymore, right?” they asked.

The sunny pegasus nodded. “Yeah. Your daughter told me there’s nothing to worry about,” she said. Light Angel came to a confusing realization. “Wait. She’s your daughter? How?”

“Well, you see, I created her from the void itself with my powers. It wasn’t easy, but I was able to succeed in the end, and Little Fraise was born as a result,” the void creature informed. He patted Little Fraise on the head, smiling. “She’s like a daughter to me and I’m glad she was born.”

The filly smiled up at the void creature. “And I’m happy that I was born, daddy,” she said.

Corrosion Abyss’ only response was to hug Little Fraise, who hugged right back.

The sunny pegasus smiled at the two’s interaction. “They really are like parent and child, even if they aren’t the same species,” thought Light Angel.

After they finished hugging the filly and placed her down, the void creature looked around at the park the three were in. “Can you tell us which city or town we ended up in?” asked Corrosion Abyss, wondering.

The sunny pegasus was happy to answer the question. “You’re in Ponyville, the town that has had more exciting things happen than any other place in Equestria, and I’m talking about monster attacks, evil villains coming to conquer the kingdom, etc. It’s pretty normal for that stuff to happen nowadays, but it’s still kind of scary,” she answered.

He nodded. The void creature inwardly agreed, seeing as how they have watched stuff like what Light Angel described happen in different Ponyvilles. “Ah. Thanks for letting us know where we are,” said Corrosion Abyss. “Also, I’m very sorry we scared you like that, so I want to make it up to you. How about we treat you to some lunch as an apology?”

Light Angel shook her head. “It’s okay. You and your daughter have already apologized to me, so there’s no reason to do that,” said the sunny pegasus.

The void creature wasn’t going to take no for an answer. “It’s really no big deal. I can spend money for food on a new friend,” they said. “Wait. We are friends, right?”

Light Angel nodded, smiling. “Yeah. Of course, we are,” said the sunny pegasus. Light Angel really did consider the two to be her friends despite only knowing them for a few minutes. “I love making new friends, so you two are now my friends.”

That made both Corrosion Abyss and Little Fraise smile.

“That’s great to hear that you think of us as friends, Ms…” said the void creature, trailing off.

The sunny pegasus understood that she hadn’t introduced her name to him yet. “Light Angel, and I know your name is Corrosion Abyss-” Light Angel looked down at the filly, smiling. “-because your daughter here told me-” She looked back up at Corrosion Abyss. “-and I have to say, your daughter has excellent manners,” complimented the sunny pegasus.

Little Fraise decided to say something, smirking. “Well, of course. Daddy told me that I have to show good manners when I meet others if I want to become friends with them, while those who are rude don’t deserve any good manners or my friendship,” she informed, proud.

Light Angel looked back down. She both agreed and disagreed with what the filly said. “True, but there are times when somepony is only rude when they’re in a bad mood because something bad might’ve happened to them recently. Like, maybe somepony they cared about had died, or they had a bad day?” explained the sunny pegasus.

She frowned. “Just because one is having a bad day doesn’t mean they have to be rude to others or make somepony else have a bad day either. They should just come out with what’s bothering them so that way, others can help and they can be happy,” said Little Fraise.

They decided to interrupt the conversation before it got worse. “Anyway, as I was saying, just choose the place and I’ll pay for the meal. I insist,” said Corrosion Abyss.

Luckily, it worked as what he said had distracted the sunny pegasus from the topic.

She thought about it before deciding, sighing. “Okay, fine. I’ll take your offer,” said Light Angel. One restaurant did come to mind and it was close by. “There’s this nice family owned restaurant that I love to go out to eat at with my friends. It’s called ‘Starlight Angels’, and they have great food, and the staff there are nice ponies too.” The sunny pegasus smiled. “You two will love the place. I just know it.”

The void creature smiled. “Great. Can you lead the way?” asked Corrosion Abyss.

Light Angel nodded. The sunny pegasus then picked up the bag of cookies and book, and placed them into her saddlebags. “Sure, thing. Follow me,” said the sunny pegasus.

Light Angel trotted off while the void creature and the filly followed after her.

Five Ancient Civilizations Arc-Chapter 2: A Restaurant Chat

View Online

The three of them were sitting at a table at the family restaurant, Starlight Angels. The whole place was retro-stylized. Corrosion Abyss and Light Angel were currently having a chat as they waited for their order while the sunny pegasus had gotten some apple juice. As for Little Fraise, she wasn’t hungry but decided to order some Strawberry Lemonade.

“So you’re studying medical science?” asked Light Angel, impressed.

The void creature nodded. “Yeah, and biology too since I need to know a lot to perform surgeries in case I need to one day. Then, I’m thinking of getting my medical license in the future,” he explained. Corrosion Abyss had needed to know about the biology of tons of creatures for surgeries, and they even needed to know about medical diseases, conditions, and so forth for any theoretical situation.

The sunny pegasus nodded with rapt attention, understanding what the void creature meant. Meanwhile, the filly was looking off to the side of her eyes while drinking some strawberry lemonade. Little Fraise was looking at the ponies who were staring at the three. Well, the ponies were actually staring at Corrosion Abyss, wondering if any of them should either run away or contact the royal guards. The same thing happened when the three were on the way to the restaurant as there were ponies who either stared, quickly moved out of the way, or fled while screaming, scared at the sight of him. Although Abyss didn’t seem to care.

Little Fraise, however, was getting annoyed from the staring. “I understand that they’re afraid of daddy, but they don’t need to stare so much at him. They can either just keep their eyes to themself or leave,” she thought. “I would’ve gotten rid of them now, but I don’t think daddy and Light Angel would be happy if I did that. I guess I’ll put up with it for now.

Luckily, the filly was distracted once the orders had arrived at the table. Corrosion Abyss had ordered a big plate of chicken nuggets with a side of curly fries, while Light Angel had ordered Carbonara. The two were now focusing on their meals, but would give pause to talk.

“So, tell me a bit about yourself,” said the void creature.

The sunny pegasus smiled. “Well, I love to read books, and I even like to solve riddles and puzzles too. Nothing’s more exciting than solving something challenging like that,” she said, in a cheerful tone. “I even like to try things even if they fail. It’s always a good experience as it’s better to try than to do nothing.”

Light Angel continued to talk about herself happily, which Corrosion Abyss was listening to while eating his chicken nuggets and fries. As the void creature was reaching over towards some chicken nuggets, they suddenly disappeared right before he could grab it, making Abyss’ hand grasp nothing

The void creature looked back at the plate, noticing that some of their chicken nuggets had disappeared as there was way less remaining. “What the…?” questioned Corrosion Abyss, confused. It didn’t add up as the ones that were missing were more than what he had eaten.

The sunny pegasus saw that the void creature was looking around at their own plate, confused. “Is something wrong?” she asked, concerned.

They nodded. “Yeah. Some of my chicken nuggets are missing,” answered the void creature.

Light Angel laughed a little. “Are you sure that you didn’t just eat them without noticing? You were distracted with me talking about myself,” said the sunny pegasus.

Corrosion Abyss shook side to side. “Sorry Light Angel, but I know for a fact that I had a lot more left and I only ate some, yet there’s even less on my plate and-” They looked off to the side at Little Fraise, only to see a lot of crumbs from the chicken nuggets in front of her for some reason. “-nevermind. Continue talking about yourself, Light Angel,” said the void creature. Corrosion Abyss had a sneaking suspicion why some of his chicken nuggets disappeared.

Light Angel continued talking about herself while the void creature was paying attention to the sunny pegasus.

As for the filly, seeing as how Corrosion Abyss was distracted, Little Fraise decided to take advantage of his distraction. “A few more should be enough,” thought the filly.

Little Fraise’s eyes darkened while her pupils glowed white. Then, a thin shadowed clawed hand appeared from in front of the filly on the table and headed for the void creature’s plate. It turned out that Little Fraise was the one stealing Corrosion Abyss’ chicken nuggets through her void abilities, and the filly was only doing this because even though she was full, the delicious smell of the food had attracted Little Fraise’s attention. It was like an irresistible call for some reason as the filly has never even eaten meat before. Little Fraise had originally planned to steal a few and try them, but as soon as she did, the filly loved them and wanted some more and kept taking some from the plate. Anyway, just as the shadowy hand was about to steal a few chicken nuggets…

“You know, if you wanted some chicken nuggets, you could’ve just asked,” said a voice, a tone of laughter.

Little Fraise looked up to see that she was caught in the act by the void creature and the sunny pegasus. The shadowy hand slipped away from the plate and disappeared.

“Sorry, daddy,” apologized Little Fraise.

Corrosion Abyss smiled. “It’s okay. The only reason you wanted to eat the chicken nuggets is because it’s made from chicken meat and you’re part void creature,” they informed. The void creature pushed the plate towards her. “You can have some, but don’t eat too much. You’ve already eaten a ton of food and I don’t want you to end up sick. Okay?”

The filly nodded. “Okay,” said Little Fraise. She reached over and began to eat some chicken nuggets.

Corrosion Abyss looked back at Light Angel. “So, anyway. Sorry for interrupting you before you can continue, and I know this is a weird question, but would you like to travel with me and my daughter on an adventure to another universe?” asked the void creature.

That surprised the sunny pegasus.

“I’m surprised, but can I ask you why you want me to come with you and your daughter to another universe?” asked Light Angel. Traveling to another universe does sound fun and like the kind of adventure she would want to go on, but the sunny pegasus wanted to know why he asked her to come along on the two’s travels.

“Well, one of the future universes that I was planning to take my daughter to was one with a beach as I wanted her to see the ocean and the marine life living there. Also, you did tell me that you loved the beach and that you wanted to go on an adventure one day in the future,” explained Corrosion Abyss. “So, I hope you can go along with us and see the ocean wave-ing at us.”

Hearing the pun made Light Angel laugh. She did love humorous puns after all.

They continued. “Besides, my daughter would love going on an adventure with a friend. Am I right?” said the void creature, looking at the filly.

Little Fraise, after having a few chicken nuggets, nodded excitedly. “Yeah! It’ll be fun!” she agreed, exclaiming. “Daddy told me that the beach has sand and dolphins and even lots of water too! I can’t wait to see it! You should come too!” The filly looked at the sunny pegasus, begging. “Pleeeeeease?”

She looked at Little Fraise before thinking about the pros and cons of going along with the two. In the end, the sunny pegasus made a decision.

Light Angel smiled. “Fine. One little adventure to the beach,” surrendered the sunny pegasus.

The filly smiled as well. “Yay!” she cheered.

Corrosion Abyss smiled as well, but then the void creature looked down and saw that the plate of food in front of his daughter was completely devoid of anything.

“What? You ate both my fries and chicken nuggets?” questioned the void creature, in a surprised tone.

Little Fraise looked sheepish. “Sorry, daddy. I guess I was so distracted that I ended up eating everything,” admitted the filly. She chuckled.

After a few seconds, they laughed. “It’s okay. Looks like you loved the chicken nuggets enough that you ate all of them despite being full,” said Corrosion Abyss.

The void creature continued to laugh, which caused Little Fraise to eventually be infected by his laughter and started laughing as well. Even Light Angel couldn’t resist laughing along with the two as well. The three didn’t care about the ponies watching them laugh.

A Few Minutes Later

After the sunny pegasus had finished eating, and Corrosion Abyss paid the bill and left a tip, the three had gone back to the park as it’d be a better place to open the portal than to open it in public for other ponies to see. Once they were in a spot of the park where no one was around, the void creature opened up portals to different beaches in different locations of other universes.

She was amazed. “Whoa,” said Light Angel.

“Which one of these beaches do you want to go to, Light Angel?” asked Corrosion Abyss, curious.

She was surprised. “I get to choose?” asked the sunny pegasus.

They nodded. “Yeah. It’s up to you since you’re our friend and this is technically your adventure too,” answered the void creature. “Little Fraise even agreed to you choosing the universe too.”

The filly nodded in agreement, smiling.

Hearing that made Light Angel happy. “Thanks, you two,” said the sunny pegasus. She looked amongst the portals until one caught her attention. It was like the beach from that universe was calling out to her.

The sunny pegasus pointed a hoof at the portal, mesmerized.

“That one looks good,” said Corrosion Abyss.

Corrosion Abyss nodded before making all but one of the portals disappear.

“Alright. Let’s go, you two,” he said.

The two nodded before Light Angel and Little Fraise both jumped through the portal, and the void creature floated right through after them. The portal closed after the void creature went through.

A Few Minutes Later

The sunny pegasus was out on the beach by herself, looking at some seashells while also arranging them into flower drawings on the sand. It was a hobby that Light Angel loved to do whenever she would visit a beach, and it was a fun one too. As soon as the three had arrived in that universe, the sunny pegasus was amazed at how beautiful the beach looked, and had decided to do her hobby while Corrosion Abyss and the filly had gone off to check out the nearby shops to see if either one wanted any souvenirs. The two had promised that if Light Angel was in any trouble, they’ll be there to help the sunny pegasus out.

She looked amongst the seashells, searching for a specific one. “I need a white seashell,” said the sunny pegasus. Something had attracted Light Angel’s attention. “Huh?”

By some sort of weird coincidence, there was a closed, pretty, white seashell a few inches away from her hoof.

The sunny pegasus picked it up and stared at the seashell, amazed. “Oh, you are pretty, you,” complimented Light Angel. She glared at it. “I hope you don’t have a strange animal inside.”

Light Angel thought about it for a few seconds before deciding that instead of making it a part of the flower, the sunny pegasus will take it with her. Light Angel had then pulled out a cloth from one of her saddlebags and put the seashell inside. Once it was wrapped up, the sunny pegasus placed it into her saddlebag. Once that was done, Light Angel started using the other seashells to make a few more flower drawings before the sunny pegasus felt like she was done.

Light Angel smiled. “There. I’m done,” said the sunny pegasus. Light Angel was looking at her work as there was a line of seashell flower drawings in the sand. “Looks very pretty.” Now that the sunny pegasus was done with that, she decided to try something else. “Since those two haven’t returned yet, I think I’ll go for a bit of a flight high up above the ocean. Besides, if they do return while I’m away, I know they’ll wait for me here somewhere on the beach. I’ll even show them my flower drawings too.”

Light Angel looked out towards the ocean before flapping her wings and flying off into the air. The sunny pegasus flew far and far above the ocean, having fun as everything was so peaceful and quiet.

She smiled. “This is so relaxing. Everything is so peaceful and quiet, the smell of the ocean is nice, and-” Light Angel looked down at the ocean water, when suddenly, a whale broke right out of the water, heading right for her, mouth opening. “-a whale’s trying to eat me,” said the sunny pegasus. It took a few seconds before she realized something was wrong with the picture. “Wait, what?!”

Light Angel quickly flew out of the way of the whale’s path, saving her from being eaten. The whale fell back in the water, creating a big splash.

The sunny pegasus was relieved. “Phew, that was a close one. Weird how it tried to eat me!?” exclaimed Light Angel.

The whale had swum back over to her and jumped out of the water again, trying to eat the sunny pegasus, who had then flown out of the way once more, causing the whale to miss again.

“Okay, flight’s over. I’m going back to land, and quickly before I end up as that whale’s snack,” said Light Angel, in a fearful tone.

The sunny pegasus quickly flew off, heading back to the beach with the whale right on her tail.

Light Angel was flying around, trying to avoid the whale as it tried to eat her.

“Stop it! Please go away!” shouted the sunny pegasus, scared. “I’m not food! Yipe!” She had to quickly dodge as the whale had jumped up high up into the air above her and was heading down right towards her.

After the whale had missed, it crashed into the water.

SPLASH!!!

There was a big splash as a small column of water shot out where the whale had crashed. Light Angel put the pedal to the metal as she tried to fly even faster as there were only a few miles of water left until the sunny pegasus made it to land, the whale still chasing her.

Light Angel was starting to look tired as the sunny pegasus had been using up a lot of her energy flying fast. “I just hope I make it in time. I’m losing a lot of energy flying fast and my wings are feeling tired,” thought the sunny pegasus. “It’s only a matter of time until I slow down completely. I need to get to the beach before it’s too late.” As soon as she was close, something caught Light Angel’s eye. “Huh?”

In the distance, there was a crowd of ponies and other species in the town looking from afar by the railings. It seems that all of that splashing had gained some ponies’ attention as they were all wondering what was going on, believing that the sunny pegasus was playing with the whale.

“Somepony, please help me!” called out Light Angel.

Unfortunately, the sunny pegasus was too far away for them to hear her. What Light Angel didn’t know was that inside one of her saddlebags, the cloth that was carrying the seashell started lighting up as its inside glowed with a dazzling light.

Meanwhile-At a Random Library

At a random table where there were stacks of books and written papers on it, there was a stallion sitting there reading a book, but was looking annoyed.

After a few seconds, he got up and trotted away from the table at a fast pace, heading for the library’s entrance door.

“Who in Tartarus is making all sat noise? Seriously, I’m at se important part of my research about se Five Ancient Civilizations and I can’t even concentrate,” complained the unknown stallion in a slight French accent.

He eventually passed by the desk of where the owner/librarian pony, Bookworm, was.

The librarian stallion was impressed. “You finished reading already, Coquillage Méduse? That was fast,” he commented. “You’re usually here a lot longer than you usually are.”

Bookworm meant that Coquillage Méduse is usually in the library for so long that he usually has to go around the library until the librarian pony eventually finds the unknown stallion with his nose in the books or writing a paper, and would have to wake him up and inform the unknown stallion that it’s almost close to the library’s closing time and to put all the books back where they belong before leaving.

Coquillage Méduse shook his head. “No, I’m just going to go see what all that noise is about. If it continues any longer, then I’m just going to have to put off my research for tomorrow,” the unknown stallion informed. “Also, I told you to call me ‘Jellyfish’ to make it easier since ponies here have a hard time pronouncing my name-”

Bookworm grinned mischievously and was about to open his mouth.

Jellyfish stopped and looked at Bookworm, angrily. “-And don’t you dare call me Shelly. I hate that nickname,” he warned.

The librarian pony only smiled innocently in response like he wasn’t actually going to do that.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about, but you should go see what all that noise is before you miss it,” said Bookworm innocently.

SPLASH!!!

The unknown stallion would’ve said more, but he only snorted and huffed before continuing on, causing the librarian pony to chuckle in response. Meanwhile, over at the table where Jellyfish’s books and papers were, a shadowy unicorn figure stepped out of their hiding spot from behind a bookcase. They approached the table and looked at all the pages before their horn lit up with a jade green magic aura, and the unknown stallion’s papers floated off of the table and over to them.

The mysterious unicorn looked at the current paper. “Hmm. I see,” said a female voice. “It looks like he’s gotten far with his research on the Ancient Forest Civilization like our leader said he would-” She glanced at the tons of books on the table. “-but from the looks of it, it seems that he’s having some trouble with his research.”

SPLASH!!!

The mysterious unicorn looked in the direction of the splash sound. “Only one creature in the ocean can make splashes that loud, but he’s supposed to be at his post far away from this town until I call for him for transport,” she said, in an annoyed tone. The mysterious unicorn growled. “If Wally keeps making so much noise, then our enemies will be alerted and realize my presence in this town.” Her saddlebags opened up on their own, and out floated some papers in the mysterious unicorn’s magic aura. “I need to hurry and copy the current information right now before it’s too late. I’ll have to give this to our leader and then copy the completed information later once it’s finished. Afterwards, I’m going to have a talk with that whale.”

She placed down one of the papers onto the table next to a blank sheet. Both papers glowed with the mystery unicorn’s magic aura before an exact copy of all the information from Jellyfish’s written paper had appeared onto the blank sheet. Afterwards, she moved the paper on the left back to exactly where it was on the table while the copied paper was moved over to the side, and then the mysterious unicorn started to do the same thing repeatedly with the other papers.

Meanwhile-Light Angel

Luckily, Light Angel was nearing the beach as she had only a few more feet left, which also meant that the whale, Wally, wouldn’t be able to follow the sunny pegasus once the water area became shallow.

“Almost there…Almost there…” said Light Angel. She dodged out of the way again. “Whoa!”

SPLASH!!!

The whale missed once again before continuing to swim after the sunny pegasus, determined to catch up with her. Wally looked up ahead and saw that Light Angel was almost at the beach as she was now in the shallow part of the waters. The whale would’ve stopped, but he needed to catch the sunny pegasus, so there was only one thing for him to do.

As for Light Angel, she had finally made it as the sunny pegasus landed on the beach sand right in front of the waves, panting from an exhausting flight. “Phew, I finally made it. Now that whale can’t get–” said the sunny pegasus, before being interrupted.

SPLASH!!!

The sound had attracted the pegasi’s attention as she looked up and realized that it wasn’t the sound of something splashing into the water, but more like something was coming out of the water as the whale had jumped high up into the air, heading down straight for the sunny pegasus, mouth wide open.

Her eyes widened in fear. “Oh, Tartarus,” said Light Angel.

She was unable to move as the sunny pegasus couldn’t muster the energy to fly away as her wings were too tired, and even if the pegasus was to gallop away, she wouldn’t be able to get far away enough to avoid him. Everyone watched as the whale was trying to eat the sunny pegasus, but couldn’t do anything to help her as he was closing in.

Somepony, please help me,” Light Angel pleaded with her eyes clenched shut.

SPLASH!!!

After a few seconds of nothing happening, the sunny pegasus opened her eyes to see that the whale was gone and that there was a big splash in the water. She was both confused and relieved at the same time.

“Light Angel! Are you okay?!” shouted a young, familiar female voice.

The sunny pegasus, recognizing the voices, looked up to see Corrosion Abyss with Little Fraise in his arms, floating down toward her, shocking the onlookers at seeing the void creature.

Once the filly was let down onto the sand, allowing her to approach, and then hug, Light Angel. “Sorry that we didn’t come sooner. There was a long line at the last gift shop we were in,” said the filly.

Corrosion Abyss nodded their body. “Yeah. The one ahead of the line was trying to decide on which gift basket they wanted to take with them back home to give to their sister and brother-in-law,” explained the void creature, sounding annoyed. “Luckily, there was a service that allowed one to have their own gift basket made, and everything was taken care of.” He then looked out towards the ocean with a thoughtful look. “But anyway, that was really weird.”

She nodded, agreeing with the void creature. “Right? That whale had just come out of nowhere, trying to eat me and it wouldn’t stop,” said the sunny pegasus. “It was like it was chasing after me for some strange reason.”

“I think we should investigate the cause first. Can you tell us what you did when you were making seashell flowers before the whale started chasing you?” asked the void creature. “Maybe whatever you did had caused the whale to start chasing you?”

Light Angel nodded. “Of course. Here’s what happened…” she said.

The sunny pegasus then began explaining what happened.

Meanwhile-Over at the Crowd

Everyone was talking amongst each other about the shocking thing that had just happened. All save one: the unknown stallion. He had arrived when Wally had jumped up into the air to try and capture Light Angel.

He looked shocked. “Oh no, that was Wally. That means they’re here, which also means…” thought Jellyfish. The unknown stallion turned around and galloped away. “I have to finish my research, and quickly. Before they find out about it.

Jellyfish hurried towards the library, not knowing that his research was being copied while he was away.

Five Ancient Civilizations Arc-Chapter 4: A Legend As Old As Celestia

The three, after asking for directions and the name of the town called 'Tidal Kelp' located on another continent far away from Equestria, arrived at the librarian’s desk where Bookworm was reading a book. They were only there as Corrosion Abyss wanted to investigate something after Light Angel explained how her predicament happened, which made him believe that the whale and whatever the sunny pegasus did with the seashells were in fact connected, and that he would find the information within the library.

Light Angel decided to talk first so that the librarian pony won’t be scared off. “Excuse me,” she said.

Hearing a voice, the librarian pony looked up from his book, and greeted them with a smile. “Hello there. How can I help you?” asked Bookworm.

“We’re looking for books that are about seashells, and even for books that are about magical seashells too,” answered the sunny pegasus.

He thought about it. “Hmm…I know where the seashell books are, but I can’t remember where the magical seashells book is,” said the librarian pony. Bookworm was silent for a moment before an idea popped up. “But I have a friend who does. He knows the entire library like the back of his hoof more than me.” The librarian pony laughed.

She smiled. “That’s great. Do you know where we can find him?” asked Light Angel.

Bookworm pointed in a direction towards the bookshelves. “He’s doing some research. If you see a table with some stallion who has his nose deep in some books and papers, and responds to the name ‘Jellyfish’, then you’ve found him,” he informed.

The sunny pegasus smiled. “Thanks so much,” she said.

The librarian pony smiled back. “It was no problem at all,” said Bookworm.

The void creature was curious about something. “Um, excuse me. Sorry for saying this, but you don’t seem to be afraid of me like the other ponies are,” they said. “I mean, I’m okay with you not being afraid, but I’m just wondering why you’re not.”

He shrugged, still smiling. “You haven’t done anything worth scary, and you’re not attacking me or anypony else. So, I know that you can’t be bad,” Bookworm informed. “Does that answer your question?”

Corrosion Abyss was both surprised and happy to hear the library pony’s answer and smiled. “It does. Thanks,” he said. “Let’s go see this Jellyfish, you two.”

The three left the desk and headed for the bookshelves. After making their way through the aisles, the three made it to a table where there was a stallion who, like Bookworm said, had his nose in a book.

“Excuse me. Are you, Jellyfish?” asked Little Fraise, politely.

While the unknown stallion was focused on the book, he was able to answer the filly’s question. “Yeah, I am. Do you need something?” said Jellyfish, wondering.

“The librarian sent us here because he told us that you know where to find the books on magical seashells,” Light Angel informed.

Hearing that snapped the unknown stallion out of his concentration, who had then placed the book down onto the table and looked up at her out of confusion and wonder, but that look changed once Jellyfish saw the sunny pegasus’ face.

He instantly recognized her from the beach incident. “Hey, you’re that pegasus from the beach. I was relieved to see that you’re okay,” said the unknown stallion.

She smiled. “Thanks. It was weird that I was almost eaten, but I was lucky that the whale somehow disappeared in the end,” said Light Angel. “I know that somepony saved my life, and for that, I’m thankful they did, and I hope that the whale makes its way back home.”

Jellyfish nodded, deep in thought. “She’s a nice mare, but what she doesn’t know is that Wally wasn’t trying to eat her, and the only reason he would do that is if he was trying to capture her without any orders to bring her to them, and I believe something about her or something she did attracted his attention. Also, books about magical seashells sound oddly familiar, and I think I know why,” he thought. “So, books about magical seashells? Well, I’m very sorry, but there’s only one of those kinds of books in this library, and I have it. I’m a researcher/explorer, and I’m doing research about something important right now that can’t wait.” The researcher pony’s horn glowed with a very soft, cyan-colored magic aura.

A book was levitated from out of one of the book stacks on the table and floated over by Jellyfish’s magic. The book was then placed on top of the book that the researcher pony had been reading.

“But I’ll do something better. Since I don’t want to let any of you leave empty-hoofed, if you tell me the description of the seashell that you’re curious about, I can quickly find it in this book and tell you what you need to know,” he offered.

The sunny pegasus hummed in thought before deciding to accept the offer. “Mmm, I found this shell on the beach, out of the water. It looks full white but has a little pink reflet time to time that looks like a mollusk shell with the two pieces closed,” she explained. “Also, I did hear some weird noise with an echo sound during when I had pocketed it. I don’t think there’s a crab inside.”

The researcher pony was impressed at Light Angel’s detailed description of the seashell. “Okay, let me find the shell that matches the description and I’ll get back to you on that in just a sec,” said Jellyfish.

He then started flipping through the book as the researcher pony checked every page, which had the picture of some sort of a magical seashell and their info. Eventually, he made it to the page where the seashell was on.

Jellyfish showed the page to her. “Is this it?” he asked.

The sunny pegasus smiled, nodding. “Yeah! This is the shell I found on the beach,” she said. “Can you please tell us what it says about it?”

The researcher pony looked back at the page, and as he stared at the seashell, it seemed familiar to Jellyfish for some reason but can’t remember why. So, he passed it off as something that the researcher pony came across during his research. “Hold on…” said Jellyfish.

The researcher pony started to quietly read what was on the page to himself, which was starting to feel more and more familiar to the researcher pony until eventually, his reading started to slow down, and the volume of the researcher pony’s voice was lowering while his eyes were widening in shock as Jellyfish realized why the seashell looked familiar. The three were feeling concerned when the stallion went quiet.

“Are you feeling okay?” asked Light Angel.

He snapped out of it and quickly looked up, surprising the sunny pegasus. “Excuse me, um-” said Jellyfish, sounding worried.

“Light Angel,” she informed.

“-Light Angel, but can you show me the seashell that you found?” asked the researcher pony. He had really hoped that his bad feeling was wrong.

The sunny pegasus nodded. “Sure thing,” she said.

As soon as the saddlebag was opened, suddenly there was a light coming out of it, surprising everyone.

“What’s going on, daddy?!” asked the filly, surprised.

The void creature didn’t even know since this was new to them too. “I don’t know, but something in there is creating that light. Light Angel, do you know what it is?” asked Corrosion Abyss.

Light Angel reached into the saddlebag. “Hold on. I think I found it,” she responded.

After a few seconds, a surprised sunny pegasus pulled out a tied-up cloth before opening it, revealing that it was the seashell that was making the light. Then, the light died down a little and shifted into a blue color. “Why is the shell making that light?” asked Little Fraise, curious.

She tried looking into the seashell to see what the light source was but couldn’t because the light itself was blinding her. “I don’t know! I think something inside is making the light,” responded Light Angel.

The void creature looked at Jellyfish. “Jellyfish, does it say anything about why the seashell is doing this?” they asked.

The researcher pony quickly looked back in the book. After speedreading the information, he was able to find out why the seashell seemed familiar and also why it was doing that. “Now I know why it sounded familiar. It’s connected to my research about the Five Ancient Civilizations,” thought Jellyfish. “Okay, from what it says, there’s some legend about it as the shell is known as the ‘Compass Shell’. It will only glow a white light once it is in the possession of a certain individual as it means that the one who was chosen will be the, well, Chosen One.”

Both the void creature and Little Fraise looked at the sunny pegasus before looking back at the researcher pony.

As for Light Angel, the sunny pegasus couldn’t believe that she was chosen by a magic seashell. “.....Eeehhhh?! Are you sure it’s me?” asked the sunny pegasus. “I’m not so strong! I mean, I can’t pick up a full tree or be fast like the wind!”

He nodded. “Well, you are the one who was chosen by the shell. So, yeah,” confirmed the researcher pony.

“Oh. Hummm...” said Light Angel. “Sure, sure?”

His only response was to nod again.

She decided to surrender for now but was still feeling reluctant. “Hum...Okay, I will do my best, but…” said the sunny pegasus. “Sure, I can’t find someone else who can better protect the shell? Like a strong unicorn with big powers?”

Jellyfish shook his head.

She frowned before looking at the seashell. “...For a shell who can’t even walk, I’m not sure your judgment can be perfectly correct,” commented Light Angel. It seemed like the sunny pegasus didn’t have the confidence to be the Chosen One as the whole thing had sounded kind of complicated to her.

Corrosion Abyss, seeing this, floated over and placed a clawed hand on the sunny pegasus’ shoulder. “Don’t worry, Light Angel. Me and my daughter will be here by your side no matter what,” he said. The void creature looked at the filly. “Right?”

She nodded, smiling. “Yup!” confirmed Little Fraise.

Hearing the two say that made Light Angel smile. “Thanks, you two,” she said.

They looked at the researcher pony. Corrosion Abyss, back when the void creature was human, had seen enough movies involving Chosen Ones to know what was going to happen next. “I’m going to guess that the next thing that’s going to happen is that the Chosen One must go on some sort of journey that involves traveling the world, right?” guessed the void creature.

Hearing that had made the sunny pegasus shocked, making her look at the void creature. “Huh?!” said the sunny pegasus. Light Angel looked at Jellyfish, hoping that Corrosion Abyss was wrong.

Unfortunately for her, he nodded. “Exactly. Since Light Angel was chosen by the seashell, she’ll have to go on a journey to the locations of the Five Ancient Civilizations and obtain the treasures,” explained the researcher pony.

“What?! Traveling?!” exclaimed the sunny pegasus, but not too loudly. “But I was already on a trip with two friends. I can’t disappear like that.” Light Angel just didn’t want to be gone from her home for a long period of time and end up worrying everyone since no one was informed by the sunny pegasus about her little trip that had somehow later turned into an adventure. “That can be another time, but for now I will go back home with Fraise and C.A.”

The researcher pony looked at them with a pitying look. “I’m sorry, but the time window to leave is impossible,” said Jellyfish, in a serious tone.

Now the sunny pegasus was confused. “What do you mean I can’t leave? I have to go back home,” said Light Angel.

He sighed. “Let me explain. To guide us to the first Civilization, the one where the seaponies and sea creatures lived and used water magic-” The research pony pointed a hoof at the Compass Shell. “-is that shell. Well, more like the entity inside of it,” he explained.

Now everyone was confused.

“What do you mean by that? There’s something inside of it?” asked the filly, curious.

Jellyfish looked back at the book. “Yes. You see, the Compass Shell was created to be more like a protective home to house the guide inside until it was time for it to awaken,” he informed, reading. “As for the light, when it continues to shine even after the Chosen One has picked it up, and then changes its color to blue, that means that the countdown to the guide’s awakening is near, and soon. Once the light turns red, it’ll awaken and then guide the Chosen One to the Water Civilization.”

Corrosion Abyss was confused. “So, its awakening has to do with her being unable to leave? How long until it awakens?” they asked, confused.

“In a few minutes…” answered the researcher pony.

That surprised everyone.

“A few minutes?! B-But–” said the sunny pegasus, but was then interrupted.

“Which is why you can’t leave or even give the responsibility to somepony else to be the Chosen One. It has to be you and only you,” said Jellyfish. “I’m sorry, but this is one destiny you can’t avoid, Light Angel” He closed the book and magically brought forth another one and opened it. “Let me tell you all the tale of the Five Ancient Civilizations, and to know about them, I need you all to listen.”

The three decided to be quiet and listen.

“A long, long time ago, way before the princesses’ time and even way before Equestria was founded, there were five ancient civilizations on this continent where the ancient creatures and ponies lived together in harmony. Each civilization specialized only with a single magical element,” started Jellyfish. “There were the civilizations of Fire, Water, Earth, Air, and Electricity. They lived separately from one another in different locations around the world, but were allowed to visit one another. Everything was peaceful, until one day, a great evil appeared from out of nowhere. He was known as ‘Stryker Aimes’ the Abyss King, and the Ruler of Dark Magic. Stryker Aimes had attacked the land and its inhabitants with both an army and his mastery of dark magic. The inhabitants of the civilizations did battle against the evil alicorn, and while they have lost some of their comrades, they were able to reduce Stryker Aimes’ army by a considerable amount, allowing them to fight back equally.”

The researcher pony looked up to see that everyone was listening with rapt attention. He wanted to make sure that they were listening.

Jellyfish continued. “The leaders of the five civilizations came together and decided that in order to defeat the evil being, they had to create a new, powerful magical item and each selected their strongest warrior and sent them into the battle against their opponent with this weapon. In the end, Stryker Aimes was killed thanks to the magical item, and the warriors’ determination and the sacrifice as only the fire civilization’s warrior was the only one to survive,” he continued. “As for the evil army, they all ran away, never to be seen again. Everyone rejoiced that they had won, but the land was scarred from the many battles. There was no cost to staying. After holding a funeral for all their fallen warriors but before leaving, the five civilizations left behind some sort of powerful treasure that was the beloved artifact of their home, keeping it safe and locked away. But in case the world was ever in danger, each of the civilizations created a way for them to be found again and hid them in order to guide the future Chosen One to the location of the hidden civilizations and find the treasures themselves.”

The void creature had a bad feeling about this. “Wait. If it’s awakening now, doesn’t that mean…?” he asked.

The researcher pony nodded, confirming Corrosion Abyss’ feeling. “There’s a group out there who are the descendants of some of Stryker Aimes’ army, and their plan is to gather the treasures and use their power to take over the world. They’re known as the ‘Dark Elements’,” he answered. “They’re led by five single element magic users, and as for that whale you encountered on the beach, Light Angel, his name is Wally, and he’s a subordinate of the Dark Element of Water, the merpony, Deadfin Stinger.”

Jellyfish got out of the seat and magically placed the papers into his saddlebags. Then, the researcher pony started putting all of the books back in their places with his magic.

The researcher pony looked back at them while not needing to look at where the books were going. “It’s only a matter of time until Wally informs him. Once he’s told about what happened, Deadfin will tell the others,” he informed. “Fortunately, none of them know that you have the Compass Shell, but they will become suspicious about Wally’s behavior and come after you. It’s best we get ready for our trip to the Water Civilization.”

That kind of surprised everyone.

“Wait. ‘Our’?” questioned Light Angel. “You’re coming too?”

The researcher pony nodded. “Of course, I am. You three need my research for your adventure, and I want to help with stopping the Dark Elements from achieving their goal,” confirmed Jellyfish. “Also, I need to get out of this town too. If the Dark Elements can’t find you, then they’ll obviously come after me next for my research. That’s why I think it might be a bit safer if I travel with you all.”

The void creature looked at both the sunny pegasus and Little Fraise before looking back at the researcher pony. “Well…Okay, I guess?” they said. “We might, in fact, need your help on this adventure.”

He nodded happily and directed a hoof to let the three know to follow the researcher pony, which they all did after the sunny pegasus tied the cloth and put it back into her saddlebags.

“Good. Now, we need to get out of this town as soon as possible before they come after us,” he informed. “Luckily, I know somepony who owns an airship. You three can wait for me at the beach while I go and ask them if I can borrow it, and also get it working too. I should be able to meet up with you all in a few minutes. Sounds good?”

The sunny pegasus nodded. “Okay. I’ll see if I can find a way to inform everyone back home that I won’t be coming back for a while,” said Light Angel, sighing sadly.

The three continued on before leaving the library. As for Jellyfish, he had stopped at the librarian pony’s desk, waiting behind some mare as her books were being checked out by Bookworm. Once the mare’s books were all checked out and she left, it was now the researcher pony’s turn.

He smiled. “Bookworm, I have a favor to ask of you,” said the researcher pony.

The librarian pony crossed his forelegs, raising an eyebrow. “Whenever you ask for a favor, it usually ends up with it becoming a big favor. Like last time when you asked me to help you move into a new apartment building,” Bookworm informed. “We had to paint your entire apartment room before we even moved your stuff in., and all that happened last week.”

Jellyfish chuckled as he remembered that day. “Well, then I guess it is a big favor. So, is your airship still working?” asked the researcher pony, curious.

He nodded. “Yeah. Why?” asked the librarian pony, curious.

Jellyfish then began to explain everything. Meanwhile, the researcher pony hadn’t noticed that a small light had flashed amongst the bookshelves.
