My Encounter With Lyra

I have always been a fan of Lyra Heartstrings. One day, I find her: abandoned in the streets.

I find Lyra, lost on the streets but she's not a pony. She got her wish and I got mine. She got to be a human and I got to find her. Things may turn out ok but I fear that something bad will happen.

1. A Miserable Life

As I sat in my room, staring a the carpet, I felt like there was no reason to live. In my world, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, is dead. The show, the community, everything. Most bronies were killed in the war but I lived. My life sucks. I'm so sad right now. My parents died during the war and my little brother... He... He died in the war, while holding his Fluttershy plush. He was buried with it because I thought it would make him happy. I've always been a fan of Lyra Heartstrings but I know that she's not real. It's very hard to accept that.

One day, I went out for a walk through town. It was a peaceful town with smiles everywhere. I was a standout because I wasn't smiling.

People often asked me: "Are you ok?"

I responded with a yes but I wasn't ok. While I was walking I heard what sounded like a lyre playing. There were many musicians in town but no lyres were ever played. I followed the sound into an alley way and around a corner. Who I saw before me, made my heart stop. Sitting against a wall, was Lyra Heartstrings. She was in a human form, her golden eyes staring at me as I did the same.

"Can I help you sir?" She asked.

I gulped because I didn't know what to say. I didn't know how to react to this. Whenever I tried to think of a reaction, my head hurts.

"Uh..... No I'm fine but..... Why are you here all alone?" I asked.

She looked around the alley with caution.

"Can I tell you something?" She asked.

"Sure." I replied.

Lyra leaned close to me and whispered: "I used to be a unicorn but I got transported to this world. I've always wanted to be a human and I'm interested in humans. I don't know how I got here."

I felt like slapping myself in the face. I knew why she was here but I don't know how. In my thought, Celestia brought me to Lyra to cheer me up and warm my heart. Thank you Celestia!!! I have only 1 choice: take her home with me. I hope that I'm not dreaming because if I am, I'll cry forever.

2. Bringing Her Home

I opened the door and let Lyra in. She had her same colors, like in Equestria Girls. She had a simple grey hoodie and ripped jeans. She was wearing torn up shoes and her hair was a mess.

"Would you like me to get you some warm clothes?" I asked her.

She nodded. She didn't have to answer with words. I could tell that she was scared. I ran into my room and grabbed a T-shirt, jeans, and socks. When I brought them downstairs, Lyra walked into the bathroom. I sat there, thinking. Then, she came out, wearing the new clothes. She sat down on the couch and looked at me.

"Oh. Where are my manners?" I said.

I walked into the kitchen and made a cup of hot chocolate. She was still cold and I knew it. I handed her the cup and took a sip.

"M-my name is..." Lyra started.

"Lyra Heartstrings." I finished for her.

Lyra had a shocked look on her face.

"How do you know?" She asked.

"I've heard of you before." I replied.

"Oh." She said.

I had no idea what to do in this situation. It's just made me so nervous. Years and years of depression and all of that faded away. Suddenly, Lyra started to cry.

"Hey what's wrong?" I asked.

Lyra looked up at me. She shook her head.

"You can tell me. I'm here for you." I assured her.

"It-it's my friend, Bon Bon. I miss her so much." She said to me.

I put my hand on her shoulder and sat down.

"I'm sure that she misses you too. For now, if you ever need anyone to talk to, come to me." I told her with a smile.

She nodded.

"Do you wanna watch some TV?" I asked her.

She gasped.

"You humans really DO have TVs?" She asked.

I chuckled. "Yeah, we do." I replied.

I turned on the TV and Spongebob Squarepants was on. Lyra really liked that show. I'm just thankful that it didn't turn onto My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Lyra's not ready to know the truth: that she's a fandom pony and TV show pony. I just decided to take it easy and relax. That's what I did for the rest of the day.

3. A Place To Sleep

It came to be 7 PM very fast. I realized that Lyra didn't have anywhere to sleep. The house doesn't have another room. I thought about her sleeping on the couch but that's just rude. I had no other choice, she would have to sleep with me in my bed. It wasn't a problem because I had a bed almost as big as the room itself. I made dinner, we ate, I took a shower, and she did the same. I jumped onto my bed and covered myself up. A few minutes later, Lyra came out and got on her side of the bed.

"Good night, Lyra." I said to her as I patted her head.

"Good night." She responded.

I fell asleep very quickly. I started dreaming... I was walking down the sidewalk with Lyra. The roads were deserted but I didn't care. For once, these streets were quiet and peaceful. Something seemed wrong about it though. Everything was TOO quiet. The shops and attractions were deserted too. I didn't like it anymore. I looked down at Lyra with a worried face. She looked up at me with the same face. Suddenly, we heard the sound of an engine. We turned around and saw a van approaching us. It pulled up next to us and stopped. Multiple men jumped out of the van. They were armed. Without warning, they started shooting us. I heard Lyra scream in pain as she was shot. The men jumped back into the van and sped away. They were hit and runners. I was heavily injured too. I looked at Lyra who was bleeding badly. I tried to crawl over to her but I blacked out. My dream was over...

4. Going Outside

I woke up from my dream. I was sweating A LOT. I think I made a puddle of sweat. I looked over but didn't see Lyra. It was a dream, there was no Lyra after all. I became terribly sad at that moment. I walked into the living and saw Lyra. She was making breakfast. My jaw dropped. I should be making breakfast for her. She's my guest after all.

She looked at me and said: "Oh. Good morning."

She beamed at me.

"I heard you struggling in bed, so I decided to make some breakfast." She said to me.

She put down a plate of pancakes on the table. My eyes enlarged. I had never seen pancakes like these.

"You've probably never seen pancakes like these before." She said.

"No. I haven't." I replied.

She nodded towards the pancakes.

"Oh. Right." I said.

I took a fork and knife. I cut a piece off of the pancakes. I ate it and my taste buds were filled with joy. I made the biggest smile that I've ever made.

"They're delicious." I said. "What did you put in them?" I asked.

Lyra smiled.

"It's confidential." She said.

I shrugged my shoulders, sat down, and continued to eat the pancakes. Best breakfast ever. I decided that I was going to go for a walk. Lyra wanted to come with me but I told her that people would give her strange looks. The look that she gave me almost broke my heart. I then allowed her to come with me. I opened the door for her and she walked out. We went into town and I showed her the different attractions there. People kept giving me strange and grim looks. I tried to ignore them but it was very hard. One person growled at me when I walked by him.

I turned to him and said: "Be quiet and mind your own business. She special, deal with it."

The man never responded. We finally reached the edge of town and decided to walk back to my house. The walk back felt like it took hours. When we got back, I sat on my couch. Lyra looked at me with a concerned look.

"Are you OK?" She asked.

I looked up.

"Yeah... I'm fine. I'm just... sad." I replied.

She asked me why.

I told her that my parents had died and that I'm all alone.

She sat down next to me and said: "You are not alone. I'm here. You have me. Your parents are still with you. In your heart."

She leaned close to me and kissed me on the cheek. My eyes widened and I looked at her. She put her head down.

"Oh... I'm s-sorry." She said.

"It-it's OK." I said. "It made me feel better."

We sat there for the rest of the day, watching cartoons. I don't know what had happened. My entire mind went blank. I didn't what I was going to do tomorrow. Only time will tell...

5. A Close Call

It was the next day. I was feeling good. Lyra and I were playing Halo 4, when there was a knock on the door. I looked out the window and saw a cop standing there. My heart stopped. I quickly rushed Lyra into a closet and told her that I'll tell her about it later. I opened the door and greeted the officer. He told me that some people said that I have a strange human with me.

"What? No. I don't have anything like that." I said.

The officer nodded and walked away. I caught my breath and let Lyra out of the closet.

"What the hay was that about." She asked.

I told her that we have to be careful. If they find you, they'll take you to a lab and experiment on you. She gulped. I wasn't doing this to scare her. I was doing it to warn her. I kept thinking of what to do when I go for a walk. Leave her here or hide her somehow. I knew that wasn't going to be the first visit from a cop. My dream popped into my head. I almost started crying but I stopped myself. I was lost in my thoughts. I didn't know what to do. There are people everywhere. The only safe place that she has is in my house. I didn't want to keep her here for the rest of her life. I thought about living somewhere else but I didn't have the money to pay for a new house. I told her that I'll figure things out. I'll figure something out...

6. The Gift

Christmas came very quickly. Thankfully, we haven't had any more police visits. I had no idea what to get for Lyra. I had one thing for her but I didn't what else to get her. One day, my mind struck gold. I knew exactly what to get her. I didn't know if she knew what to get me. I'm sure that she'll know. Even if she doesn't, I'll still enjoy what she gets for me.

Instead of saying Merry Christmas, I said Happy Hearth's Warming Eve.

It seemed better. One thing that I tried to avoid was mistletoe. I always thought that it was a little weird. Lyra loved the idea. One time, she played a trick on me by putting mistletoe over my head. She then stood under next to me. When looked up, I panicked and she busted out laughing. I was not too amused. I was too old to believe in Santa Claus but Equestria was very different. They had Santa Whooves there and he was actually real. He was an alicorn so he lived longer.

"Your world sounds so much better than this world." I said to her.

"Oh come on. Your world must be full of love and excitement." She replied.

I frowned.

"No. It's not. Things have gotten terrible. There's terrorism, murdering, and hatred. Things get worse every day. Your world is full of love and peace." I said.

She was devastated.

I wish that I could go to her world. Christmas Day finally came and I was definitely happy. Lyra opened her first present. It was an anthropology guide. She loved it. Most of her gifts were human books because she loves studying about humans. My gifts were good too. They were video games, movie, and books. Lyra had one last gift under the tree. It was a medium sized one. I knew that she would love it. She ripped it open and her eyes filled with tears of joy. It was a lyre with her named engraved in it. She jumped on top of me and gave me a huge hug. I knew she would like it. I told her to try it out. She played the lyre softly. It sounded beautiful. It was the best Christmas that I've had in years. For some reason, I felt like our time is running out. I felt like I was living in My Little Dashie, except it was Lyra. Like in the video, Lyra would be taken away somehow. I never want that to happen. Never...

7. That Heartbreaking Day

View Online

It was a normal Sunday. Bright, clear, and sunny. I was listening to Lyra play a soft tune on her lyre, when I heard tires screeching outside. I looked out the window and saw a SWAT van stop at my house. My heart stopped beating for about 10 seconds. I ran up to Lyra, told her what was happening, and put her in my closet. The door was thrown open and a dozen of SWAT men stormed into my house.

"Woah! What's going on?!" I yelled.

An officer walked up to me.

"Where is she?" He asked.

"Who?" I asked.

"The girl living with you. The aquamarine girl living with you." He responded.

"I don't know." I said, trying to act innocent.

The officer grabbed my shirt and lifted me up.

"WHERE IS SHE?!?!" He yelled.

"I said that I don't know." I replied.

The officer threw me down onto the dining room table, which broke beneath me. My leg and rib was broken. I only prayed that they would find her. I heard a scream come from my room and my eyes filled with tears. I saw the SWAT men walk into the living room with Lyra in their hands. She was still holding lyre. The officer grabbed the lyre, threw it on the floor, and stepped on it. The lyre was broken. I tried to get up but I was in too much pain. I started yelling curse words towards the SWAT men. They were gone. She was gone. I lied there, crying. She was gone, forever. My heart was shattered. Why? Why couldn't Celestia just leave me alone and let me live a happy life. I crawled across the floor and grabbed the broken pieces of Lyra's lyre. I held the piece with her name on it in my hands. Suddenly, a bright lighted filled the room. I thought it was God, about to take me to heaven. It wasn't. I saw Celestia fly down and land in front of me.

"Tell me. Why did you want Lyra to stay with you forever?" She asked.

I looked up to her and said: "She brought happiness into my life. She brought a warmth in my heart. She made me forget about the terrible world that I live in."

Celestia gave me a reassuring look.

"Without her, you feel miserable, sad, and alone?" She asked.

I nodded.

At that moment, a light figure appeared next to Celestia. It formed into Lyra. Celestia's horn lit up and the pain in my body was gone. I got up and hugged Lyra tightly. She did the same.

"From now on, if anyone tries to hurt you, you'll be protected by a force field of harmony." Celestia announced.

"Thank you so much." I said.

"You are quite welcome." She said as she flew into the air and disappeared.

I looked back at Lyra's lyre. It was fixed. I handed it to her and she started playing a soft tune. My life would never be miserable again. I don't need anything. I don't need fame, fortune, or wealth to make me happy. The only thing I need, is my Lyra.

The End.
