Amber leaf lived a perfectly good life with Sombra and her fellow Crystal Ponies, in the Crystal Empire. She loved him, and she still does. Why did he have to study dark magic? Why?
After Sombra became dark, all the crystal ponies rejoyced. Except one. Amber Leaf. The only pony who had ever loved him. She still loves Sombra even today. Amber would give her life just to see his face again. When Sombra gets that choice, will the two be reunited once more? And what happens when an old enemy comes back? With the hellp of some new and old friends, Sombra is about to find out.
"There's nothing to tell!" I practically yelled. Thinking about the past.
"Please...?"
"Fine. . ."
"Yes. Finally." Rose Quartz said. Clapping her hooves together.
It was painful reliving it all, I mean the slavery, and most of all him. Sombra. The most sweet and loving pony I had ever met. Or I thought. He was corrupted, and still is, but I still love him.
I know Cadence and Shining Armor saved us. And every pony else is all happy and cheery, but not me. I stay alone. Every pony always wants answers to there most wildest questions. Like "why did he do this?" Or "why did you ever love him?". Finally one of them got to me, every pony will now know the truth...about every thing.
"It all started at the market, I was just going out for some fresh air...
Walking down the main road, I noticed a tall stallion, he was like no other I had ever net in my life. Tall, with red eyes, and red crystals for a cutie mark. His dark coat and mane was mesmerizing. I knew at that moment that he wasn't from here, and I decided to give him a warm welcome.
"Hello."
"Uh, hi." He responded shyly.
"My name is Amber Leaf, welcome to the crystal Empire" I smiled, and a piece of my light purple mane fell into my face.
"Mine is Sombra." He said, pushing the piece of hair out of my face.
"You aren't from here, are you?"
"No, in fact, I'm studying here with Star Swirl."
"Oh, that's really cool. So, do you want a tour of the best places?" I asked, hoping he would say yes.
"I would like that very much Amber. Can I call you that?"
I smiled. "Sure."
"I like you, you're... Not like any pony else..." He trailed off, then smiled.
I answered the door and saw Sombra. "Hey," I said with a smile as I answered the door to find my boy friend. It's been two months since we've met in the marketplace, and our relationship has only grown stronger.
"I want to show you something, for our anniversary." He smiled and put a purple blind fold over my eyes. He guided me for what seemed like hours, and then he spoke. "Right here. You can see now."
I grabbed the blind fold with my hooves and saw Sombra he used his magic, but I was like no other magic I have ever seen in my entire life. It was black with purple and green specks.
I was amazed.
"I learned a new spell! Isn't it cool!"
"It's amazing! I have never seen that type of magic before!" I replied.
"Star Swirl says it's very powerful, and in the wrong hooves, can be very dangerous."
He obviously sees the expression on my face, and gives me a kiss. "How can something so beautiful be so dangerous?" I said with a smile.
We were in line for the annual crystal fair, when some pony cut in front of him.
"Hey, you just cut me and Amber!" He yelled.
"Yeah, so!" The other crystal pony snapped back.
"So, it means you should go to the end!"
"I'm NOT moving!"
Sombra shot a bolt of his dark magic at the stallion, and it hit he mane. Turning a streak of hair in it green, when it was originally blue. I was shocked.
"Sombra, why did you do that?!"
"I-I'm so sorry, I-I don't know what hit me, I have to go!" He turned around and galloped away, and that was the last time I saw him. . .
I sat in the caves I have been imprisoned in ever since Princess Cadence and Prince Shinning Armor defeated me. Every pony thinks I'm dead, but , sadly I am not. I have had a lot of time to think about things. Me, King Sombra, the biggest jerk ever. I miss her, and the Crystal Empire. Amber Leaf, the nicest most amazing pony ever, and I blew it.
I picked power over her, and now I will never see her again.
Every night, I have nightmares about how I made her my slave, and whipped her. I could see the blood dripping off her flanks as I did. And for what? I whipped her because she talked to me...
"Sombra, it's me! Don't you remember? Stop the madness!"
"It's King Sombra, you ungrateful slave!"
I tried to open my eyes, to stop the visions,
"Why?" She looked up at me with great pain.
"Guards! I don't want to hear another word out of her! Ever again!" The guards came and tied a rope in her mouth, so she could not speak.
A single tear rolled down her face, and she closed her eyes.
I ran away from her, I broke her heart. And shattered our love to pieces.
Into the snow I ran, to the outskirts of the Crystal Empire. All alone in my thoughts. I wished I could've given Amber a good reason why I left, but she wouldn't understand. No pony would.
I never told her it was dark magic, why didn't I stop when I destroyed the book in The library?
I insisted on being the most powerful being in all of Equestria. And just look where that got me? I looked at my reflection in the ice.
I shuddered at the memories, it was just too much. I took everything away from her. Her life, her happiness, and most of all, our love. When I fell through the ice, I felt the darkness inside consume me, and there was no goodness left.
Another thing I took from Amber Leaf. Her goodness. Once a cheery pony, now a gloomy mare.
"Thanks. . .why are you here? Miss Hattie normally delivers my food. Princess Cadence."
"Today's your trial."
"Oh...right."
"Let's go, we don't want to keep every pony waiting..."
I walk into the court and see Princess Celestia, Luna, Cadence and Twilight. I also see Prince Shinning Armor. Not making eye contact, I take my seat, and my trial begins.
"King Sombra, you are charged with the enslavement of the Crystal Ponies, the penetration of the Crystal Empire, and Hiding the Crystal Heart." Princess Celestia rose and spoke. "Do you have anything to say in your defense?"
I nodded and walked up to the stand. "I already know that I have no chance of escaping the death penalty, but can I just say one thing? I am sorry. I apologize to the Crystal Ponies, and I apologize to Princess Twilight and her friends. But most of all, I apologize to Amber Leaf, I still love her, and I now know what I did was wrong. If I could just see her one more time, to hold her, to tell her I love her. I would die, but with my last memory being a good one, instead of all the others."
Nearly in tears, I left the stand and sat back down in my seat.
"Very well, you will see this Amber Leaf. But only, if she wants to see you."
I lifted my head out of my hooves in surprisment, "w-what?"
"You may see her." Princess Cadence answered.
My heart nearly skipped a beat. But then I thought something. . . 'What if she doesn't want to see me?"
I was just sitting at my crystal dinning room table when I heard a knock, knock, knock on my door. I walk over to see Princess Cadence.
"Hello, are you Amber Leaf?"
"Y-yes your majesty?" I respond, bowing.
"No need, and you need to come with me."
"A-am I in trouble?"
"No, no, I can't tell you, or at least not here."
"O-ok?"
I follow Princess Cadence all the way to her castle, and we finally stop in her room.
"There is some pony who wishes to see you if you wish?"
"Who is it?"
"That's the thing, his name is Sombra."
"K-king Sombra?"
"Yes."
"Where is he! he's still alive!?"
"Yes, do you wish to see him?
"Yes! take me to him!"
I can't believe I get to see Sombra again, I thought that all these years he was dead, that Princess Cadence and Prince Shinning Armor defeated him. I followed Her once again, this time to the dungeons of the Crystal Castle. after a long walk.
"Here you are, just follow me."
We both walk into the cell, and there he is, sitting facing the wall, with his head down. He didn't even notice we walked in.
"I'll leave you alone now."
"S-Sombra?"
"Amber?! it's really you!"
I ran into him and we hugged each other, with tears streaming down my face. I bush my muzzle into his chest. "I'm so sorry Amber, for everything!"
"I-it's ok,"
"I'm sorry I hurt you."
I didn't answer, but held him closer, embracing his presence.
"Amber, I have to tell you something."
"Yes?" I said wiping tears from my eyes.
"The only reason why I am seeing you here, is because I will recieve the death penalty."
"NO! T-THAT'S NOT FAIR!"
"Amber-"
"No! I spent years thinking you were dead, and it nearly consumed me! imaging what would happen if you really were dead?!"
"It's not my decision."
"And it won't be the final one! I will fight for you! and you won't get it! no pony should."
"Thanks Amber."
"And when we win, we can start a new life and a family, and live a happy life together. Since you lost all your powers, no pony will recognize you."
The next day spend all day studying court and court laws at the Crystal library. When I leave, the librarian talks to me.
"Amber! you are finally your cheery self!"
"Lets just say, I meat up with an old friend..."
I leave the library with a good vibe. I'm finally my self again.
Finally it's time for me to go to court. I arrive in a navy blue suit, and shoes.
I spot Sombra, where he waves over and I take my seat right next to him.
"Alright, court is in session!" Princess Celestia says.
"You're majesty," I bow "I would like to speak on the defendant's behalf, and I would like to try and persuade to court to not give the death penalty."
"Very well, were listening..."
I clear my throat and begin. "Sombra will receive the death penalty, this I am very sure of, but why? What has he done that makes him deserve it?" Yes I am quite aware that her enslaved me and the other crystal ponies, an took over the Crystal Empire, but that is in the past."
I pause, take a breath, and continue.
"He is of no danger to you, or any pony else for that matter. Here in Equestria, we encourage friendship and love and peace, not death and depression."
"Wait a minute, who will be depressed?" Princess Cadence asks, and the other princesses, and Shinning Armor nod.
"I will! I love him, and he loves me, Ever since I met him at the marketplace."
"But, he enslaved, and probably whipped you."
"Yes, he did. But I know that he was corrupted by dark magic, and will never do that to me ever. I Forgave him, and I think you should too."
The jury deliberates for a couple minutes and then Princess Celestia speaks.
"Sombra gets to return to the Crystal Empire with Amber Leaf, and will not get the death penalty." she announces. bang. "court adjured!"
I run up to Sombra and give him a big hug and a kiss.
A couple weeks passed, and I did many good deeds for the Crystal citizens. I helped get a gat out of a tree, worked some food stands, and even helped at the library.
"Sombra, I think they are ready."
I nodded and stepped into the center of the Crystal square.

She went up to Twilight's door, and knocked.
"Hey Fluttershy, what brings you around?"
"Um,"
"You haven't knocked on my door in forever." She interrupted.
I finally stepped forward.
"Sombra!?"
"H-hi."
"You can't be seen! get inside quick!" she literally pulled me in and Fluttershy in, while slamming the door with her magic.
"Why are you here?!" she demanded.
"I-it's Amber, she's been captured by the angry people of the Crystal Empire." I said.
"What? why?"
"She told the citizens that I was alive and well, they didn't believe it. They got so scared of me, that they tied her up with ropes! and she told me to run, so I teleported in the Everfree Forest to find you."
"Why should I help you? You nearly killed me and my friends!"
"I'm really sorry, and I-I've changed..."
Twilight just turned her head away and sighed.
"She's the only thing that I care about at this point...take me instead! don't put her through this please!"
She turned toward Fluttershy, and they both nodded. "alright, lets get the gang together! operation save Amber Leaf is in progress!"
"Amber? Are you there?" I kept repeating with no answer. from Amber.
Finally I heard faint shuffling like some pony getting up.
"Who's asking?" I heard her sweet sweet voice ask.
"It's me."
"Who's me?"
She doesn't remember.
"It's your hero, I've come to save you." I said.
"My hero?" she asked.
Thinking she wouldn't say any more, I followed her voice down the long hallway. my hooves hitting the cold stone floor like pounding thunder. I must save Amber, I must.
"Amber?" I asked again hoping that I would hear her voice.
"How do you know my name?"
That's all she needed to say, I now knew where she was. I urged the others to follow me. And soon, I was standing right in front of my love, Amber Leaf. Her mane and tail was all knotty and her face was dirty. She looked gloomy.
"Amber, we're here to save you."
"That's nice, but who are you?" She asked with a tip of her head.
"I told you already, I'm your hero."
She smiled bluntly. "That's very funny, but I won't leave with a stranger!" She exclaimed stomping her front hoof of the ground. That's my stubborn Amber...
"Shhhhh. We'll get caught!" I hissed.
"You mean you will get caught! go away, I have no intention of leaving with someone I don't know!" she stuck her nose up in the air and went to lag down.
There goes that idea of leaving.
"What are we going to do? she won't leave."
"Oh don't worry darling, she will leave." Rarity said. Her horn started to glow a light blue and poof! Amber leaf was fast asleep.
"Wow."
"She won't wake up for another three hours. It works on Sweetie Belle and her friends when I want some piece and quiet."
And with that, I draped Amber over my back like a wet cloth and took off.
I felt so happy, even though I was totally unaware of the battle that has just begun . . .
''Amber, are you ok?'' I asked the crystal pony before me.
''S--Sombra! I missed you!'' Once she finished her sentence, Amber jumped onto me, embracing my presence in a hug.
''Amber. Y--You remember me?''
She didn't answer, she just sobbed into my chest hugging me tightly. ''I--I'm so sorry!''
''For what?''
''F--For everything.'' She sobbed. ''For getting us into this mess, and--and everything else, its all my fault.''
''No ...You saved me for death, you loved me, Amber, you have nothing to apologie for!'' I half smiled at her.
Amber just kept looking at the ground. Finally she lifted her head up and I looked into those beautiful, sparkling blue eyes of hers. I brought my hoof up to her chin and the side of her mouth quivered into a small smile. Our eyes locked together, and Amber smiled more. The next thng I know ...Amber changes back into her cheery self.
''Sombra?'' She asked me. ''Don't ever let me go ...''
"So. now that we saved Amber, we can lea-" Sombra started to say.
"No, we can't..." Amber Leaf intterupted.
Every pony looked at her with concern and worry.
"What? Why not?" Sombra asked.
"That...That thing in there is not Princess Celestia..."
"What?" Twilight asked.
Amber turned towards her. "Twilight, you know Princess Celestia... Right?"
"Well ...Yeah."
"Is she kind, and honest, and understanding?"
Twilight's face lit up and she smiled. She remembered Celestia helping her with studying and magic when she was little, and her kindness and compassion. "Yeah, she's all that and more!"
"Well the thing in there is ... is evil, and mean, and nasty! And not Celestia!"
"Queen Chrysalis!" The mane six said together at the same time.
Sombra and Amber were throughly confused. "Who's Queen Chrysalis?" They both asked looking and shrugging at each other.
"Queen Chrysalis is the ruler of the changelings, she triend to take over Canterlot and consume everything." Twilight started to say.
"And she kidnapped Princess Cadence snd replaced her." Rarity said.
"Gaining the love and trust of Twilight's brother, Shinning Armor, she fed off his love and became extremeley powerful." Apple jack continued.
"She became so powerful, that she defeated Princess Celestia in a magic duel!" Rainbow Dash exclaimed.
"We failed to get to the Elements of Harmony, and were captured." Pinkie Pie started.
"Um ...But in the ...um end ...Cadence and Shinning Armor defeated her with ..um their love.."
"Wow. So we need to get to Princess Cadence and Prince Shinning Armor then! We need to save Equestria from Queen Chrysalis!" Amber Leaf exclaimed.
"So it's settled then, we need to go back to the Crystal Empire!" Sombra stated.
"Only one problem, neither me or Sombra have a good reputation with the Crystal ponies..." She said with a scratch of her hoof in the dirt.
"Oh, right ... That's just one more problem for us to solve ..." Twilight groaned.
"IDEAAA! I recently made some cloaks, you two ould wear theese until we get into the palace. We can explain everything to Cadence and Shinning Armor, I'm sure they will understand." Rarity said as she pulled out two cloaks. She handed Sombra a red one with a purple gem for a button. She gave Amber a purple one with a ruby as a button.
"That reminds me! Amber. I wanted to give this to you the day ...you know ...here." He handed her a red scarf with red strings for tastles. "I love you, Amber ..." ( Listen to Till the sun burns out by Sebell. Official song of this chapter!)
"It's the red scarf!" She smiled, and then started to blush. "Thank you. I love you till the sun burns out." Amber said, blushing even more. Sombra smiled and leaned in to kiss her on the cheek. But Amber turned her head and redirected the kiss to her lips.
"SO CUTE!!!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed, snapping a picture from a camera. "That one's going in the scrap book!"
"Where did she get the camera?" Rainbow Dash asked Apple jack.
"I don't know, it's Pinkie, don't question her ..." She replied, shaking her head and rolling her green eyes.
When they arrived at the Crystal Empire, they got a lot of weird looks from the citizens. Considering that two of them are wearing long cloaks to shield their faces, they looked pretty weird. They all walked up the steps into the castle, when they were stopped by a guard. It was Flash Century.
"Hi, Flash!" Twilight exclaimed, hugging the stallion.
His cheeks turned crimson."Uh ..hi Twilight. What brings you here?" He said in a serious tone.
"Me and my friends are here to see Cadence and my brother." She repiled in the same tone as Flash.
"Oh ...ok, go right ahead." He seemed sad that Twilight wasn't here to see him, and she knew it.
"Guys, go ahead of me, I have to talk to Flash for a minute. Ok?" She waved for them to go forward. When they were gone she smiled at him and kissed him on the cheek. He blushed again, and she smiled at him, he returned the smile. Twilight waved to Flash Century and walked inside the castle.
She actually kissed me. He thought to himself as he brought a hoof up to his face and smiled again.
Twilight wlked up next to her friends, they were talking with Cadence.
"What do you mean Celestia's been replaced?" She repeated in shock. "And who are these two mysterious ponies in the robes?"
Sombra and Amber removed their hoods and Cadence gasped.
Chapter 16: The Everfree Forest's many challenges and Discord
"Sombra, Amber Leaf? I thought you two were with Princess Celestia." Princess Cadence was very confused, and explaining to her that Celestia wasn't Celestia was even harder for her to wrap around her brain.
"So we need your help to stop Queen Chrysalis! Are you in?" Twilight asked.
Cadence was dumbfounded."Sure ..I guess?" She shrugged. "But how do you know that it's not just Princess Celestia in a bad mood?"
Amber Leaf stepped up. "Trust me. It's not." She said in a serious tone, shaking her head.
"Ok, so first, we need to infiltrate the castle. And considering that we have two fugatives on our hooves, no offense, it's not going to be easy." Cadence used her magic, and floated over an ink pen and a map of Canterlot, How she got that ..I don't have a clue.
"None taken." Amber and Sombra both said at the same time, and then smiled at each other.
"Here's the plan." Cadence started. "Twilight, do you know where the elements are?"
"Yeah ...." Twilight and the other mane 6 ave a solumn nod. "The everfree forest.....
Sombra and Amber Leaf were almost halfway to the tree of elements. So far they had been attacked by aligators and poisionous mist-shooting deadly plants, what's worse?
There was an awkward silence, and then Amber broke it. "Hey ...thanks for saving me back there from the aligators .." She smiled bluntly, recalling previous events.
"And thank you for saving my rump form those plants!" They both giggled and smiled, and they were 5 steps loser to the tree of elements.
"No problem!" Discord exclaimed, resting on Amber's shoulder.
Aligators: 10 minutes earlier
Amber and Sombra approached a river, and a path of greenish-grey rocks leading to the other side. "Well, let's go! They need those elements!" Amber said in a determined voice as she started to hop from rock to rock.
until one of those rocks started to move. And then another, and another, and another, untill all of them were moving around.
"S-Sombra!" Amber turned around, to see the land moving further and further away from her- it was not the land that was moving- it was her! "H-help me!" She was terrified.
Sombra was so worried, he needed to save her! But how? He looked around for something-anything- to save her with. Finally he realised that he could just teleport to her using his magic.
Amber was still holding onto the moving rocks back with all her might. Then it started to stand up, and it had a tail, and claws, and teeth!
Amber Leaf was clinging onto an alligator, and it wasn't happy with it's new guest. The alligator started to reach for her. It grabbed her in it's scaley hand, it's claws digging into her blue coat drawing a little blood.
"Sombra Help me!!!"
It was all over in a flash of magic. Sombra used all of his magic to teleport, grab Amber, and get out of the aligators' reach across the river. They wern't going to take any chances with crossing bodies of water again.
Poisionous Plants: 5 minutes earlier
After their mishap with the alligators, Sombra and Amber were on the lookout for anything else that could, and would, kill them. They never expected the plants to try though.
All of a sudden, Amber turned around and notices that Sombra was gone. She called out for him. "Sombra?! Where are you? If this is a joke, it's not funny!" No answer.
She heard som pony coughing though. She ran int eh direction of the horrible hacking, and found Sombra. He was barely standing, and bein attacked my plants that were spraying this weird blue mist at him.
She knew she had to save him.
But how? She didn't want to fall victim to the plants too, I mean what good would that do?
But it was too late, the plants started to come after her too! "Any pony! Help!" She exclaimed out loud.
The last thing she saw was two mismatched feet, one green claw and one a hoof.
Discord had rescued them, and was now helping them find the tree of the elements.
Chapter 17: The Elements are home at last ....maybe?
After Sombra, Amber Leaf and Discord got thorough the Everfree Forest's challenges, they made it to the Tree Of Harmony.
Amber and Sombra looked at the tree in awe. "Wow!"
"It's amazing!" Amber exclaimed after Sombra.
Discord was not amused. "Come on you guys! I've seen this thing like a million times! Let's just get the elements and get out of here!" He was growing quite impatient.
\But Sombra and Amber wouldn't stop staring into th tree. And to make it even worse, they wern't blinking. Discord decided to wasve his lion paw hand in their faces, but they wouldn't respond.
"Amber, Sombra? It's just a tree you know. Right?" Discord was starting to get really worried.
What would he tell Fluttershy (and the others) if he came back without them? He couldn't let his new friends down, especially since they counted on him to help them.
I can't let them down. Discord thought. I have to bring them the elements myself. I have to leve Sombra and Amber here, it's for the fate of Equestria!
Discord grabbed the Elements of Harmony out of the tree and ran out of the cavern. Leaving his new friends behind.
"Where are they?" Rainbow Dash asked, pacing the sky.
Twilight and the others told Amber and Sombra (and Discord) to meet them outside of Canterlot castle. And yet here they are, waiting outside for the special delivery.
They were just about to go after them , when a familiar face popped out f nowhere (Literally, he popped out of nowhere). "Discord!" They all exclaimed, in a whisper.
"Where's Sombra and Amber Leaf?" Fluttershy asked in her sweet voice.
"Yeah, where are they?" The others all asked at different times.
Discord felt like her was shrinking ...smaller and smaller and smaller. Well, that's probably because he was literally shrinking himself out of grief. "Um well ..." He laughed nervously. "They are still at the ...tree. When they stared at it, they wouln't move. They were stuck in a trance." He gulped. "So, I decided to leave them there so I could bring the elements to you."
"Discord-" Fluttershy started but Discord interrupted.
"I didn't mean to! I'm sorry Fluttershy!"
"There, there, it's ok, we'll save Equestria without them."
"Um Fluttershy? The plan strictly evolves around them! And if they are in a trance with the tree, the that's bad." Twilight said.
"Why?" They all asked.
"Discord, do you say that they were linked to the tree in some way?" She asked.
"Yeah, it was like they became one with it."
"This is bad, this is really bad."
"Twilight! We need details here, we can't read minds!" Rainbow Dash almost yelled.
"You do recall when we had to give up our elements to the tree so it would live, right?"
Applejack's eyes widened. "T-that means ...."
"That since Discord took the Elements from the tree and Amber and Sombra are 'linked' to it ...." Twilight said.
"The tree will die." Rarity said.
"And since they are linked to it, they will die with the Tree Of Harmony!" Twilight exclaimed.
"We have to save them!" They all exclaimed together.
"You are the one's who will need saving! Next time you plan to storm my castle, don't yell so loudly." Celestia/ Queen Chrysalis yelled, as she put them in chains.
I couldn't stop staring into the light of the tree, it's beautiful blue glow, it was mesmerizing. A piece of my light blue mane fell into my face, but I didn't care, or bother to move it.
Why should I? And miss one moment of that beautiflul tree? No thanks.
The tree was my new true love, and no pony can ever take it from me! At that moment I turned to the side to see this weird stallion with a black mane and tail.
I shook my head numerous times to get out of the trance. I know the tree's beautiful, but I need to step back into reality, one hoof at a time. Baby steps, baby steps. I thought to myself.
And I started to walk towards the tree, the blue-green aura glowing brighter by the second.
Then I realised comething ...Where are Amber and Discord?
I looked around and saw Amber. She was walking towards me. "Amber? Where's Discord?" I asked her, but she didn't respond.
"Away." She finally mumbled.
"What?"
"Away from my tree." She said a little louder this time.
"What's gotten into you?"
"The tree, get away! It's mine, and you can't have it's beauty!"
"Amber, where's Discord?"
"You will just chop me up and use my bark as furniture, well you can't! get away!"
Sombra was confused. Why did she say get away from me? He thought. Not wanting any trouble, he stepped away from the Tree Oh harmony.
Sombra looked back at it, and realised that it wasn't glowing any more. That's ....strange. He was trying to wrap his brain around this.
"Amber, it's me, Sombra!"
"Who's Amber?!" 'Amber' sounded pretty angry.
"You, your name is Amber Shiny Leaf, you live in the Crystal Empire." I can't believe I said her full name. He thought to himself again.
'Amber' tilted her head to the side "That's such a pretty name ....Too bad it's not mine!"
"It is such a beautiflu name, and it belongs to a beautiful pony, the one standing right in front of me. I smiled at her, and for the first time, she didn't return it.
"Just leave me! Me and my shame!" 'Amber' said in pity.
Welll that came out of nowhere ....
"Who are you anyways?" I asked, hoping i didn't just shoot myself in the hoof.
"My name is Treeo Harmony, I'm really sorry that I used you 'friend's' body. I am dying, and I needed something to save me." She quoted the word friend's.
"It's ok ...but can I have my Amber back please?"
"Oh ...yeah! Sorry I forgot."
With that Amber Leaf was lifted up into the shy, the same blue-green glow surrounds her, and her eyes are just plain white. Her mane and tail was blowing in the wind.
She was incased in a sphere, and then dropped back down on the ground.
"Amber?"
"S-Sombra?" She got up, putting a hoof ontop her head. "What happened?"
I smiled, and she returned it, and I was happy that she did. I was worried that I would never see it again. "It's along story ..."
"And I think it should be shared with Amber Shiny Leaf here." A majestic voice echoed off the cavern walls.
A light purple-white pony appeared out of the shadows. She looked like Princess Celestia, except her mane wasn't flowing, and she wasn't an alicorn. Her horn was split off into two at the top, and her hooves were furry at the bottoms.
Her mane and tail was purple and zigzaggy, it had rough angles. Her short mane was up in a ponytail with a darker purple band around it. Her eyes were blue and striking, with sharp eyelashes.
She had a star with 6 points and swirls around it. Her ears were furry just like her hooves. She looked just like the Tree of Harmony! (I will provide a picture if i can)
"How do you know my name?" Amber asked, in a shaky voice. "And who are you?"
"As I told you little 'friend' here, my name's Treeo Harmony. Nice to meet ya!" She had a lot of energy. "Sorry, I have been a tree for so long, I guess it's cool to be a pony again! Again ...sorry too much enthusiasm."
"Tree of harmony?"
"No, T-r-e-e-o H-a-r-m-o-n-y, But I am the tree! Hey....what's your friend's name anyway?"
"My name is Sombra."
Treeo jumped back "K-King Sombra?" She seemed afraid. "Celestia and Luney told me about you!"
"No! I'm good now. And who's 'Luney'?"
"Princess Luna! I used to call her that ..you know ...before all that." She frowned. "But! Now that all that's over, every pony's happy!" Treeo looked at the ground. "But I wish they would come and visit me ..."
"I'm so sorry." Amber said almost in tears.
"What's that crown on your head? Why are the gems missing?" Sombra asked, changing the subject.
"Oh, when Discord took the Elements away from me, I became too weak, so I simply used miss Amber's body temporarily. And then I turned into a pony, and the crown is where the Elements Of Harmony go! And since I don't have them, the crown is empty."
"Oh. What happens when you get them back?"
"I think I turn back into a tree, but I'm not sure." She put her hoof on her shin, thinking. "yet." she added. "But ffor now, we have to help the others save Celestia!"
"Wait. How do you know about the problem in Canterlot?"
"I'm connected with the Elements ...duh ...I know exactly where they are."
"Well, where are they?"
"Your not gonna like this. They're in the Canterlot dungeons!"
Chapter 19: Canterlot Dungeons and a history lesson
The mane 6, Cadence and Discord were trapped, and to make it even worse, Queen Chrysalis used and anti-magic spell!
There only hope was Amber and Sombra.
"Well, Discord darling, it sure is a good thing you left Amber and Sombra at the tree, right?" Rarity said wiith a little bit of humor in her elegant voice.
"Yeah, I guess." Discord laughed a little.
"So, let's hope they aren't dead." Rainbow Dash said flatly.
"Rainbow! Don't say that!" Applejack scolded.
"I'm serious. We were aware in the Everfree forest and almost got killed..." She thought for a second. "3 times! Imagine if you were stuck in a trance!" Rainbow basically yelled.
"You're right!" Pinkie Pie exclaimed.
All of a sudden, a flash of light purple light consumed the room. Standing in the center were two figures.
An earth pony, a unicorn, and a very tall unicorn with a split off horn.
All the prisoners stared in amazement.
"Why is it so bright!?" A feminine voice yelled.
"I don't know, maybe it's because we used the magic of 2 unicorns?!" There was another female voice, and they all recognized it instantly, it was Amber Leaf!
"Amber? Is that you?" Applejack asked, shielding her eyes with her hoof.
"Applejack! Yes! Yes! It's me and Sombra and Treeo!"Amber exclaimed, she was happy to have found her friends.
"Who in the hay is Treeo?"
"The tree of Harmony became a pony after Discord took the Elements, her name is Treeo Harmony." Amber explained.
Treeo stepped forward and every pony gasped. But Discrodd just stood in awe. "T-Treeo? Is it really you?"
"Discord!" Treeo jumped into the god of chaos's two different arms. Tears in her eyes.
"Treeo! Your back! I missed you so much!"
"Where's Luney and Tia?" She asked, breaking the hug and wiping her teary eyes.
"WAIT A MINUTE! WAIT A MINUTE! WHAT IN THE HAY IS GOIN' ON?" Applejack screamed.
"Oh Applejack ..." Discord giggled. And Treeo returned the laugh. "Looks like it's time for a history lesson!" Discord exclaimed, pointing a finger at the sky. "Come around and sit every pony, this is a long but sad story.
(Discord's narration is in Italics. Sorry if not to cannon. don't hate meee!)
It started when me, Celeestia and Luna were only little foals ...
"Look, Tia!" Little Luna said, pointing to something on the ground.
You see, Queen Galaxia and King Cosmos had just gone to save the Crystal Empire from you, Sombra.
(I remember that!)
Yes, yes, shut up. Any way .....They stumbled upon your truly, me!
"What is it Luna?" Younger Celestia asked her sister. She had not yet matured, so her mane was all pink. Luna's was light blue.
"I don't know. I think it's alive though." Luna poked the sleeping creature with her hoof, and it shook awake.
"Hey! I was sleeping!" If yelled.
"AH!" Celestia and Luna both exclaimed in fear.
"AH! What! Is it behind me!?" It frantically ran around, screaming.
I made Celestia and Luna laugh that day. I introduced myself, and soon enough, we became friends. They invited me to their castle, and gave me a room all my own! Then one day, some terrible news came from the Crystal Empire ....
The castle gurard ran down the hall, his hooves making a loud noise on the marble floor as each one hit the ground with some force.
He stopped right at the three little ponies ...well two at least, not counting Discord. He bowed. "Your highnesses, I'm afraid I have some terrible news."
"What is it, sir?" Luna asked in her sweet little voice.
Celestia put her hoof in front of her and shook her head. "I'll handle this, how about you and Discord go play outside?" She waited for the two to leave the room, then continued to speak with the guard.
Considering Celestia is older than Luna, she decided to take this crisis herself. "You see, Queen Galaxia and King Cosmos have ...."
"Are they returning?" She asked.
When Luna and I left, I stayed behind, what can I say? I was curious. Celestia made it even harder for the castle guard to tell her because she was still young.
He gulped. "The king and Queen have died in battle. They won against King Sombra, but did not survive." He said bowing his head.
I was horrified, The king and gueen have died. And by the look on Celestia's face, she was horrified as well as me. Her own parents. Dead.
So, the small kingdom of Canterlot (It was just founded a few years ago, mind you) needed a new ruler, and more importantly, some pony to rise the sun and moon.
Being taught by her mother to raise the sun, and her father about the moon, Celestia took on both rolls herself. That was when she got her cutie mark. Celestia rose the sun in front of the whole kingdom, seeing her skills, they appointed her the new ruler.
Princess Luna became upset. Two of the 3 ponies she loved the most in her life were gone. And she could never. ever. see them again. Celestia was equally sad, but, she had a whole kingdom to run, and didn't show her emotions that much.
Luna used to practice rising the moon with her father, and doing it again would only make her sadder. So, her sister raised the sun and the moon for 2 years, until finally, she would do it herself.
The kingdom, though saddened by the loss of their King and Queen, started to grow and prosper under the rule of the two sisters.
(Flash forward a couple years.)
Princess Celestia's mane was starting to get the color it is today, and Luna's was still blue, but longer than before.
And I, well I was getting older, my claws were sharper, and iI was starting to get more mischievous.
(You! mischievous? There's naw such thing!)
Applejack, are you going to let me finsish?
(Whatever.)
As I was saying ....
All three of us went on a walk into the Everfree forest, when we stumbled on a cave with a light purple glow coming from the entrance.
Being curious, we entered the cave. There, sitting on the floor was Treeo.
"Who are you?" Luna asked.
"I was a tree. But now, I have no idea." She responded.
"What type of tree?" Princess Celestia asked.
"I was the Tree of Harmony."
"I got it! Treeo Harmony! That's your name!" Princess Luna exclaimed.
"That's a pretty nice name! I think I'll keep it!"
"So, what are you doing here?" I decided to ask.
She went on about how she was a tree, and then POOF! A pony! And just like that we became friends.
One day we went to visit her again, and we saw no pony there, just a tree.
The tree had these beautiful jems on it.
"Treeo? Where are ya?" Princess Luna asked.
A voice responded, it was Treeo, our friend, she had become a tree again.
"Luney! Celestia! Discord! It's me, Treeo!"
"Where are you, we're not playing hide and seek silly!" Luna yelled back and giggled.
"I'm the tree. See these gem stones?" We all nodded. "These are called the Elements of Harmony, they are very valuable sorce of defense. I want you two to have them , Celestia and Luna."
The elements floated off the tree, and landed right infront of my two friends, not me. I was seriously jealous. But that comes into play later ...
"Goodbye my friends." Treeo's voice faded out, and she was just a tree.
Chapter 20: Defeating Queen Chrysalis and Discord's depression.
After they sneaked into the main hall of the Castle, they all saw her. Queen Chrysalis...Who wasn't disguised as Celestia anymore. She was holding the real Celestia in a green bubble. And she was also holding Princess Luna hostage!
"Unless you don't want them dead, I suggest you stop walking forward." She smiled an evil smile.
"Let them Go!" Twilight blurted out.
"Hmm ....Let me think. NO!" She laughed.
"You have revealed yourself s foolishly! We will stop you!" Treeo stepped forward.
"You are such a good actress, Treeo!" She smiled again.
Discord looked straight at his old friend. "No ...Please tell me it's not true!" His eyes were starting to fill up with tears.
"I wish I could, Discord. I'm sorry ...." She said softly, then smiled as she walked up to Queen Chrysalis and stood beside her.
"You see, me and her go waaayyyy back! Speaking of my friends, c'mere Amber!"
Amber was grabbed in the evil queen's magic, and trapped like Celestia and Luna. "Let her go!" Sombra yelled.
"Sombra! Help me!" Amber Leaf screamed.
"Let my Amber go, you monster!" He charged at Queen Chrysalis, only to be held back by the others.
Now we had Sombra, who was angry that she took Amber, and Discord. Who's sadness turned into anger. "How could you! You were my friend Treeo! I-I trusted you! We trusted you!" He narrowed his eyes.
"That was what I was trying to do! You're so foolish, Discord! Before I stumbled into you and the two princesses, I met Chrysalis! We were the best of friends." She smiled widely.
The two hugged. "I missed you so much, Treeo."
"I missed you too, Chryssy."
"I gotta say, you should win a whinny award for that performance! And the way you hugged Discord and fake cried." She pretended to blow her nose, " Such a tear jerk-er."
"But you're the Tree Of Harmony! You can't be evil!" Rainbow Dash yelled.
"Yeah, we trusted ya'll!" Applejack started to yell too.
"Enough." Discord mumbled.
"huh?"
"Let's just use the Elements, and get this over with!"
"Yeah! I wan't Amber back!" Sombra chimed in.
The mane 6 shrugged and put on their necklaces.
Discord walked away, a single tear streaming down his cheek.
"C'MON GIRLS! LET'S SAVE EQUESTRIA!" Twilight yelled.
With that, a rainbow consumed Chryslais and Treeo as the mane 6 were lifted up in a flash of light, Chrysalis screamed.
She was shot back into the Everfree forest, and Celestia, Luna, Amber, and Treeo remained.
"Celestia! Luna! Are you OK?" Twilight screamed, running towards them.
Sombra ran strait to Amber Leaf and hugged her. "Are you OK, Amber?" He asked, concerned.
"I'm fine." She said, returning the hug.
"Luna! How could you?! Betray me like that?" Celestia looked over to her sister who was lying on the floor unconscious.
"Sister?" Luna responded.
"No, Celestia, it was Queen Chrysalis! She took over replacing you and thinking she was Luna." Twilight explained, then she looked over to Treeo and lifted her up with her magic.
Then she opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
"You! You're evil! How could you betray us like that?"
Treeo didn't answer.
"Answer me before I throw you towards the Everfree Forest with your best friend!"
"What?" She answered, a flash of green light leaving her eyes.
"Huh?" Twilight mumbled.
"What's going on? Where's Discord?!"
She doesn't seem to remember a thing. Twilight thought.
"Rainbow! Applejack! I need you two to keep an eye on her, while I go talk to Discord. And don't hurt her ...yet."
"Can do, Twi!"
Twilight ran out of the castle to see Discord sitting on the steps. "Discord, she was under a spell, it wasn't her."
"She betrayed us!"
"Discord, Queen Chrysails put her under a spell! She didn't betray us- you willingly."
"I hate her." He mumbled so softly that Twilight couldn't hear.
"What?"
"I said! I HATE HER, AND I WISH I NEVER MET HER!"
Standing at the doorway was in fact, Treeo.
Twilight was correct, she was under a spell.
"I can't believe I did that!" She said to herself. "I ruined our friendship!" Treeo ran after him.
When she finally caught up to him, he was in tears again. And so was she.
"D-Discord?"
"What do you want?"
"I-I'm sorry!" She ran up to him and buried her head in his chest. "I was under a spell!" She sobbed, "I would never betray you! You're my best friend!"
"You are such a good actress! Never again will I be your friend! Y-you liar!"
Treeo only hugged him tighter. "No! Please!"
"I guess that makes two of us."
"What?" She looked up to see a toothy grin on his face.
"We are both good actors! Of course I forgive you, Treeo!"
She returned that smile and he wiped away her tears.
After Queen Chrysalis was defeated, Celestia and Luna both ruled Canterlot again, and Cadence went back to the Crystal Empire.
There was still a great decision to make on Amber and Sombra's part though ....
Where do they go next?
They are both technically fugitives after all. And no matter what Cadence or the royal sisters say, the citizens of Canterlot and the Crystal Empire will always hate them.
So where do they go next?
"Amber!" Sombra yelled after his mare-friend. (girlfriend)
"Yeah?"
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to take a walk, wanna come?" She gave him that irresistible smile.
"I'd love to," He blushed, then remembered something.
Sombra had recently bought her a ring. This wasn't just any ring, he was planning on purposing to her. But he didn't know where he would do it.
He wanted everything to be perfect.
It had to be!
The two walked up and down the Canterlot courtyard until it was dark. Sombra had asked Luna to make the moon especially beautiful tonight. And considering he and Amber had saved her kingdom, she was happy to.
Of course, once Rarity and the others had heard about this they each decided to help. they had helped string up some beautiful lights. Sombra was so grateful for their help.
The alicorn of the night waved to him from the balcony. Sombra gave the signal and nodded. Princess Luna raised a large, golden moon into the sky.
"Amber?" He asked, swallowing the lump in his throat. What if she says no? That would be so embarrassing! Maybe I shouldn't ask.
"Yes, Sombra?"
C'mon, Sombra! You can do this! Just breathe and ask! It's a simple question, just ask her! "I was wondering ...." He trailed off.
Sombra took a deep breath.
He bent down on one hoof and held the golden ring in his magic. "Will you marry me, Amber?"
Inside the box was a ring, it had a piece of amber in the middle, and it was surrounded by gold.
"S-Sombra! I- YES! I will, I will marry you!" She exclaimed, hugging him tightly.
Ceslestia had heard, and she set off fireworks. Reds, blues, greens, oranges, yellows, pinks and purples filled the sky.
Sombra just looked up at where Luna was standing and saw every pony. He smiled and rolled his eyes.
-Up on the Balcony-
"NOW?!" Pinkie Pie asked, so excited that she might burst.
Princess Celestia smiled and nodded. "Yes. Now, Pinkie." She laughed a bit.
Pinkie jumped off the balcony, screaming : "WEDDING PARTY!" She shot off her party cannon and covered every pony in confetti!
"Sombra." Amber giggled, "You set this up?" She said gesturing to everything.
"Well ....the moon yes, but not the lighting or ...Pinkie." He started to giggle too.
Luna flew down to the ground. "So, when's the wedding?"
The mane 6 were getting Amber ready. Rarity had made her a special wedding dress. It was white with a tint of an amber color around the edges. Her dress had a long train that had her cutie mark embroidered in the center on the bottom.
"Wow darling, you look amazing!" Rarity exclaimed.
Applejack and Rainbow Dash rolled their eyes. "C'mon Rarity, it's time for the ceremony." Applejack said, motioning for the others to literally push her out.
"Wait!" Amber yelled.
"Yeah, sugar cube?" AJ answered first.
"I know it's a little late ...but, I was wondering if you wanted to be my bride's maids?" She asked hopefully.
"Of course!" Rarity answered. "Oh! I need to get the dresses! Come on girls! Follow me! Oh, Amber see you in there!" The rest of the mane 6 left Amber Leaf to herself.
It was finally time for the ceremony. Amber walked down the aisle, looking at her groom the whole time. She was so nervous!
She reached the altar, and stepped up, and stood next to Sombra.
"Mares and gentle colts. We are gathered here together for the marriage of Amber Leaf and Sombra." Princess Celestia began.
CRASH!
The front window had broken, and standing there was a very angry pony wearing a black cloak. A green glow formed around Amber leaf, and she screamed.
"Let me go! Help me!" She tried to struggle, but to mo avail.
Amber was put into a green ball. All the other unicorns in the room, including, Twilight, Rarity, Sombra, and all the royals used their magic.
It was no use ...it was a magic-proof prison.
Then there was an all to familiar laughter.
"HAHAHAHA! I have captured your love, Sombra! And friend to all the others!"
"Let my fiance go!" Sombra yelled.
"I just want to have a little fun! If you can't find Amber two weeks from now, then I will kill her!"
Amber's prison disappeared along with her in it in a flash of light.
For that laughter belonged to none other than Queen Chrysalis.
"NO!" Sombra yelled, tears streaming down muzzle and falling onto the floor.
Then a smaller pony emerged from the shadow of Chrysalis.
"Remember when I told you that I would get my revenge, Twilight Sparkle?" Trixie smiled. "Well, I just did! Your friend .." She pointed to Sombra, "Should thank you. After all, this is your fault, he and his future bride just got caught in the cross-fire!" She laughed and vanished along with Queen Chrysalis.
Twilight just sat there with her head in her hooves.
