Random Game Review: Beyond Eyes · 11:13am Jun 24th, 2017

Welp. Looks like I once again dove into my Steam library looking for small cute things to play, and I found Beyond Eyes! I honestly don't remember how I got this game. Either it was part of some Humble Bundle, or I just stumbled on it in the Steam store and thought it looked interesting.

Concerning the Value of Groundhog Day · 5:31pm Mar 15th, 2017

Now, you may think, this is a bit late, no? But this wasn't actually inspired by Groundhog Day, nor by the movie about that day (which I haven't seen, anyway), but by Admiral Biscuit's excellent story Silver Glow's Journal, in which a pegasus exchange student got acquainted with an odd human tradition that went against everything her weatherpony training had taught her.

You probably heard him on Sesame Street... · 6:34pm Aug 22nd, 2016

This is a sad day for music. A legend left us today.

Pretty much everyone of my generation must've heard him on TV when they grew up; he did the harmonica in the Sesame Street tune. But those who are into music a bit deeper than that (specifically, into jazz) probably knew him by name: Toots Thielemans.

Random Game Review: Everlasting Summer · 10:36pm May 7th, 2016

I've reviewed Katawa Shoujo when I played that one, so it's only fair I do the same for what is, in spirit, its Russian counterpart. Like KS, it's completely free, though ES does require Steam (though their slightly older versions can still be found from the official torrent distributions if you look around a bit through some probably-Russian blogs of the creators)

Rassemblons-nous au même moment
Nos mille visages sur un écran
Pour déclarer d'une seule voix
"Prenons courage"

Let us gather at one moment
Our thousand faces on one screen
To declare with unified voice
"Let us take courage"

(from "Calling All Dawns", the full album from which the Civilization IV opening song "Baba Yetu" originates)

In case anyone's wondering... I'm still alive. · 6:14pm Mar 22nd, 2016

So. Yeah. As some of you who've taken a closer look at my user page may know, I'm Belgian. Got some concerned messages about the mess in Brussels, so I thought I'd put this out here... I don't work anywhere close to the capital. Though I do pass through a major train station (Ghent) on the way to work. The only damage on my part was a delayed train on the way home.

Random Game Review: Undertale · 9:59pm Dec 23rd, 2015

Yup. This game. My goodness, I just don't even know where to start. Everyone keeps saying it's brilliant. It won a recent online competition for "best game ever", on which fans of the many, many long-standing classics that got their butts kicked cried foul and swore that a two-month old game (now closer to three I guess) couldn't possibly legitimately beat these grand masters of gaming history.

Well. I only have one thing to say.

Believe it.

Frenemies Talk: S05E23 - The Hooffields and McColts · 7:42pm Nov 18th, 2015

So, once again, Prane and Gulheru dragged me into one of these review thingies, and once again I went along mostly so I'd actually get around to watching the episode. I still haven't seen a bunch of those in between, though :facehoof:

The Hunchback of Mamma Mia! · 7:54am Nov 2nd, 2015

Yesterday, I re-watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame, for the first time in... what, twenty years? Almost twenty years, yeah. We went to see the movie in the cinema when it was released, in 1996, and I'd never seen it again since then.
