Rassemblons-nous au même moment
Nos mille visages sur un écran
Pour déclarer d'une seule voix
"Prenons courage"
Let us gather at one moment
Our thousand faces on one screen
To declare with unified voice
"Let us take courage"
(from "Calling All Dawns", the full album from which the Civilization IV opening song "Baba Yetu" originates)
Now, I'm Flemish, so I'm certainly not one to sustain the myth that Belgium is French, but this song just seemed appropriate as tribute. Incidentally, this is one of my favourite songs, like, ever. It never fails to give me chills.
Let's not forget all those others out there; the recent bombing in Pakistan claimed about twice as many victims as the Brussels attacks, and all that is still peanuts compared to the tens of thousands that died in the war in Syria.
It's a dangerous world out there. But don't hide in your homes; that's what they want. Instead, let's gather on the streets and squares... and take courage.
I wholeheartedly support this message, but it is just a message. Actions in this case would speak far louder than words.
We need to find a way to directly help those who have been wronged by ISIL and ISIS, be that taking the fight directly too then, joining the Forces and putting yourself in danger to save them, or by doing charity work, trying to get food and shelter to those affected etc.
Words mean nothing without a supporting action.

Yeah, sure. The Belgian army will surely send both of its F-16s to go fight in Syria
