The Red Parade

Cars are still parked outside. If the rapture had happened, why was it unrecognizable? Why was the sky blue? Why did no one tell me? Do these things not announce themselves?

Red Delicious has spent his life fighting against the abyssals, and he doesn't intend on stopping any time soon. Silverstream intends to change that, one way or another.

Written for the Quills and Sofas Expanded Universe Contest, in which each author was tasked with writing a sequel to another author's story. This story is a sequel to Dreamer Deceiver's Plumbers Don't Wear Ties and is better understood if you read that first.

Thanks to Moonshot, Flashgen, Bill, Schattendrache, HatMan, Silent Whisper, Zontan, Seer, Drider, Wish, Dawn, StyngerSkies, and Nailah for reading during the contest.

Sometimes, it takes little moments and chance meetings to feel warm again.

My entry to the Right Back at it Again Contest. This story was inspired by two things: the story Coming in From the Cold by Timaeus and the song Dasher by Gerard Way. The story was originally a Quills and Sofas Speedwriting Entry during an open prompt contest where it tied for second.

Thank you to MasterThief, TheLegendaryBillCipher, Koren, Vis-a-Viscera, Seer, N30, Snow Quill, and ScopingLandscape for prereading during/after the contest.

This story was an exquisite corpse story written by the members of the My Little Reviews and Feedback Discord server. Join us here!

An exquisite corpse story is a collaborative writing exercise in which a group of people try to tell a story: the catch is that each author can only read what the author before them wrote and must continue despite not knowing the entire story. This was the result.
