When Twilight Sparkle learns that her assignment to make friends is the most essential one, she has a panic attack that results in a magic surge, one that puts her in a time loop.

Pinkie Pie has been aware of the audience watching her world and its ponies, and now she has the time and opportunity to throw parties for said audience. Even she has limitations, though, so she creates a network of humans to help her arrange parties for them.

...And sometimes she comes bearing gifts.

Derpy is a special pony who has a talent for traveling between universes. Today, she adds an extra dimension to her life.

Luna takes a trip to familiarize herself with Equestria's advancements, as well as places that had not been settled a millennium ago, and discovers something that requires an explanation from her sister.

Before going to Ponyville, Twilight Sparkle connects more dots than usual, which gives her more reason to face Nightmare Moon alone.

Marshall is in a rut, drifting without a purpose. Rarity is in a rut, looking for inspiration. By chance they meet, despite living in different universes, and find what they're yearning for with the aid of the other.

Fair warning:

Out of necessity (for various reasons), the story is told from the point of view of an original character. Character interaction and development is an integral part of the story's plot, and said plot really takes its time to unfold. Also, there's a man-to-mare element, although it takes a backseat to the main elements of the story. If you don't care much for any of those things, you may want to pass this story up.

...Also, I haven't watched My Little Pony: Romance is Magic, so bear that in mind when you consider reading this story.
