When a mysterious girl dragon comes to Ponyville Spike finds out something spectacular but is it all a lie.

It was average day in Ponyville. The sun was shining on this clear day as the birds were chirping. In the library Twilight's favorite assistant Spike was organizing the books. "Lets see, only have one stack of books left to organize." Spike said as he walked to the last stack he needed to organize. He was glad that this job was almost done since Twilight spent most of the night reading them.
He took the time to put them back on the shelf and when he was finished his stomach growled. He put his claw to his belly. "Boy, all that work sure gets a guy hungry. I wonder if Twilight has any gemstones around here."
Spike started his search and began to check every nook and cranny for a single gemstone that might end his hunger. Twilight the alicorn soon came in from visiting AppleJack to use her magic to get rid of these strange crystal pillars coming out of the ground at Sweet Apple Acres and saw him searching. "Spike? What are you doing?"
Spike turned to her as he finished checking under his bed. His stomach growled again. "Do you have any gemstones Twilight?"
Twilight shook her head. "Im sorry Spike, I don't. You could go see Rarity she might have one."
Spike smiled thinking about happy that he will be when he sees his beloved Rarity. He hurried out the door.
It only took a few minutes and Spike was in front of the Carousel Boutique. In Spike's eyes it was very beautiful but not as beautiful as his Rarity. He knocked on the front door and Rarity opened it. Spike smiled widely as he saw her with her purple mane that looked as if it was freshly washed.
Rarity smiled. "Why hello Spike, care to come in."
Spike nodded as he eyes had hearts in them.
They get in and Spike sees a few mannequins with a few new outfits that Rarity had been working on. One had a dress covered with diamonds and another had all the colors of the rainbow.
He chuckled thinking of what his friend the cyan blue pegasus with the rainbow mane and tail, Rainbow dash would say. She would most likely say that the dress needed to be 20% cooler. Spike shook his head getting that thought out of his mind remembering about asking her for a gemstone or two.
He looks at her. "Hey Rarity do you have a gemstone I can have? " Rarity nodded. "Why yes Spikey- Wikey, I have a few I can spare. I was going to use these on a fabulous gown but they were the wrong shade of blue."
Her white horn glows with a blue aura as she pulls out a few sapphires. Spike licks his lips and takes them greedily with his claws. "Thank you Rarity."
Rarity smiled. "Enjoy them dear. Now I must be getting back to work." She walks off to her sewing machine.
Spike nods. "Okay, see you around." He walks out of Carousel Boutique drooling over the sapphires.
As Spike started to walk back to the library a small cloaked figure was walking around the market place. The ponies in town looked at the figure wondering who this pony or thing may be. Spike felt brave and walked up the figure. "Hello, I'm Spike. Welcome to Ponyville."
The figure looked at him. Its eyes the same shade of green as Spikes. "Spike? That's your name?"
Spike nods. "Yes it is."
The figure lowers its hood showing a female dragon with purple scales like Spike's and pink scales that looked like the green ones Spike had on his head.
She smiled. "My names Sarah and I am your long lost sister..."
Spike looked shocked at the news. "Sister? Really? I have a sister?"
Sarah nods. "Yes, I have been searching for you for years."
Spike smiled. "Really you have been searching for me? Lets go to the library and you can meet Twilight." He takes her claw and leads them to the library.
When the entered the library Twilight was reading a book on flying since she was still getting use to her new wings. She looked up from her page as Spike and Sarah entered."Hello Spike, I see you got some gems from Rarity. Who is your friend?"
Spike looked at Twilight with a big smiled. "She is my long lost sister Sarah."
Sarah nods confirming what he was saying.
Twilight raised an eyebrow not sure what to think. "Sarah if you don't mind me asking how do you know Spike is your brother?"
Sarah smiled. "Well besides of the fact that we look a lot a like. Long ago back when I was only a day old my mother lost a egg and was told it was sent to Canterlot to be used in an exam and when she couldn't find it, she gave up hope and I spent most of my life trying to find him."
Twilight still wasn't sure but Spike had always wanted to know about his family. Before she could say anymore there was a knock at the door. "Come in."
The door burst open as there was a loud bang from the sound of a cannon. Pinkie Pie came bouncing in. "Hi everypony. I heard there was a new dragon in town and thought we can throw a party for her."
Spike smiled. "Thanks Pinkie. This is Sarah she is my sister."
Pinkie gasps. "We can throw a welcome to Ponyville, I found my sister party. " She made her cannon go off as confetti rained down.
Sarah smiled. "Thank you for the warm welcome. I am so glad to have found my brother. "
That night there was a major party that Pinkie planned. It was full of sweets, dancing and games. Sarah like pin the tail on the pony. She lost to Rainbow dash but didn't mind it.
Rarity complemented Sarah on her sparkling scales and told her that she could make a new cloak. Sarah smiled hearing that.
AppleJack said that she was glad to know that Spike has a family besides them and asked Sarah if she would be staying in town for a while. She nodded telling the farmer pony she was.
As it got dark one by one ponies left until it was just Twilight, Sarah, and the now sleeping Spike.
Twilight gave a warm smile to Sarah. "You can stay here for the night."
She tucked Spike in and pulled out a bed like the one he had. Tears formed in Sarah's eyes. "Thank you I will." Twilight nods and goes to her bed, falling asleep quickly.
Sarah covered up in her blanket and sighed. A dim black glow came out from underneath her hood. Sarah noticed it and pulled out a string that was wrapped around her neck. On the string was a single black crystal.
The crystal spoke in a deep voice in her mind. Are you in? Sarah nods. "Yes master, I am. They don't know anything. There was the sound of cackling and the glow faded. Sarah put it back under her cloak and went to sleep.
The next morning, Spike was standing on a ladder by one of the book shelves. He was getting a book for Twilight while she was gone. She had gone out to figure out why more mysterious crystal pillars had started to pop up all over Ponyville. She told Spike before she left to look for a book that might help them. He glanced at a book he got down, seeing that it wasn't the right one he put it back. As he grabbed another one he saw that Sarah had woken up. "Hey Sis. Did you sleep well?"
Sarah was still wearing the cloak she wore yesterday and she nods. "Yes I did Spike. Did you sleep alright? I hope so, what are you doing?" She walked over to the ladder.
He put the book back and nods. "I slept pretty well. I dreamed of my lady Rarity, the most beautiful mare in the world. As for what I'm doing, I'm looking for a book for Twilight." He picks out a small one with a worn out cover and flips through the pages.
Sarah chuckles when she hears the comment about Rarity. She thought it was cute that he had a crush on her. When she met Rarity last night, she found that she was very nice. "What does Twilight need a book for?"
Spike sighs, finding that the book he had wasn't going to help Twilight. He puts it back and looks at Sarah. "Well it seems that strange crystal pillars are popping up all over. First it was at Sweet Apple Acres by AppleJack's trees and barn and now it is by the Everfree forest. It's so strange don't you think."
She nods slowly when she hears the words crystal pillars. She glances at the single black crystal on her necklace. A chill went down her spine thinking about it. "Crystal pillars? Boy that does sound strange. I wonder what the cause of it is." She tried to sound surprised when she talked.
Spike nods as he got down from the ladder, he figured he would continue to look for the book later. At this time he wanted to spend it with his newly found sister. They had a lot to catch up on and he had a lot of questions. He looked at her. "Hey Sarah, I know you told Twilight and I briefly about what happened to me when I was an egg but I want to know more. May you please tell me."
Sarah sighs thinking for a minute or so. She had to choose her words carefully. "Yes I will. If you want you can go get your friends and we can chat at the colorful gingerbread looking building." She smiled thinking that if she got them all together she would have a less likely change of changing details of the story.
Spike nods as he headed for the door. "Oh you mean Sugarcube Corner. I'll make sure to get everypony there. " He headed out the door.
She put on a fake smile as he left, once the door closed she looked at the ground. She tried to think carefully about what she was doing. She sighed and headed out the door remembering that she must accomplish her mission from her master.
As Spike was rounding up his friends Sarah made her way toward Sugarcube Corner. As she was walking three fillies on a scooter flew over head. When they landed, one of them made the scooter skid to a stop. The yellow filly with the red mane and bow pointed a hoof at her. "Hey aren't you Spike's sister that we heard about? Howdy to ya."
Sarah smiled. "Hello. Yes I am, my names Sarah. Who are you three."
The orange filly with the moderate cerise mane got off the scooter. "I'm Scootaloo, this is Applebloom and Sweetie Belle." She pointed to the yellow filly with the red mane and bow and the white filly with a pink and purple mane. They all smiled at Sarah.
They exchanged words for a few minutes. Sweetie Belle told Sarah that Rarity was her sister and that they both made a new cloak for her. It was a pretty pink color with a small diamond on it. Applebloom said that her sister was AppleJack and Sarah kind of figured that since they both had a southern accent and thought that they seemed alike. Scootaloo basically told her how much she wanted to be like Rainbow dash and how Rainbow dash was the greatest pony ever. Sarah smiled as Scootaloo spoke thinking that it was nice that Rainbow dash had a fan. They finished talking and they went off on their way. Applebloom mentioned something about them trying to get their firefighter cutie marks.
When Sarah got to Sugarcube Corner everypony was sitting down enjoying some juice and cupcakes. Rarity saw her first. "Hello darling, we are over here."
Sarah nods and comes over to them, taking her seat next to Spike as he ate a sapphire. "Its great to know that you all came."
Rarity smiled. "Well we all would like to know about our little Spikey-Wikey." Her horn glowed blue as she pulled up the cloak that Sweetie Belle had told her about. "I just couldn't stand the thought of you having to go one more day with that cloak on so I made you this. Isn't it fabulous."
Fluttershy nods. "It does look nice. " She said that in her usual quite tone.
Sarah smiles, thinking that she doesn't desire it because of what she was hiding from them all. "Thank you Rarity." She takes the cloak figuring she would put it on later.
Applejack smiles. "Well now that we are all here how about you tell us the story sugarcube?"
Twilight looks at Sarah thinking about the brief story she told her and Spike. She thought it was kind of strange that this dragon who is claiming to be Spike's sister the same time strange crystal pillars are popping up. "Yes Sarah please tell us in complete detail."
Sarah nods. She took a deep breath and remembered what her master told her about Twilight. She knew she would have to be careful around this one. She seemed kind of hesitant to start but did. "As my mother...I mean our mother told me, it all started years ago. It was a nice day and she laid in her cave, watching over her two eggs. Both of them were light purple with dark purple spots. I hatched first and our mother was making sure I was alright when the wind blew and the egg fell."
Pinkie pie gasps. "Oh no!" Applejack looked at her as a way of saying to keep quite.
Sarah continues. "It landed in a wagon and somepony took it away. Our mother tried to search for it but she couldn't find it. She later found out it was taken to Canterlot to be used in a magic test. When I got old enough our mother told me this story so I went to Canterlot and asked around. I found out about the incident where you Twilight made him grow huge and it lead me here to Ponyville. "
Twilight nods remembering that day. "Yeah, I remember that day so that's your story."
Sarah nods. "Yes..it is." Her black crystal dimly glowed as it spoke in her mind. Good stick to the story I gave you
Fluttershy smiles. "I'm glad you found each other."
Rainbow dash sighed. "It was good but not as good as Daring Do, add some action and it would be way better."
Spike gave Sarah a hug. "Thank you for telling me. I'm so glad to know about my family."
Sarah smiles. "I'm glad as well." She gives him a hug, she felt kind of sad knowing that she was hiding the truth from him.
Sarah held the hug for a few extra seconds trying to put all the bad out of her mind. She took a deep breath and smiled at Spike. "So, what do you want to do now?"
Spike smiled at her. "That is a good question." He put his claw under his chin thinking for a minute and turned to Twilight, Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie. "What do you all do with your siblings?"
Pinkie Pie starts bouncing. "I got my cutiemark after I threw them a party."
Spike chuckles. "We already had a party. I don't think we need another."
Rarity moved her hoof through her mane. "Me and Sweetie try to get along when she isn't messing up my work. We did do the Sisterhooves Social that one time. "
Applejack smiles. "Well me and Apple Bloom do chores and stuff like that sugarcube."
Twilight smiles as well. "Me and Shining Armor flew kites maybe you both could do that." She got up from her seat. "I'm going to send a letter to Princess Celestia to see if she knows anything about these crystal pillars, that are still up. "
Rainbow dash looked at them after thinking a minute. "Crystal pillars...hmm, could it be King Sombra."
A chill went down Sarah's spine at the mentioned of that name.
Fluttershy shivers. "Sombra? He was scary.."
Spike shook his head. "No it couldn't be him, remember when we went into the Crystal Kingdom and got back the crystal heart, he basically went kaboom."
Twilight nods. "Yeah, I doubt that he is involved. We haven't heard a peep about him in a while. " She walks out the door and heads back to her library.
Spike stands up. "Come on Sarah lets go fly a kite." He starts to drag her outside. "Bye everypony."
Applejack chuckles. "Have fun, y'all."
Sarah smiles as she was being dragged. She had her new cloak in the claw, that Spike wasn't holding on to. Soon Spike grabbed two kites and while he did that, she put on her new cloak. She made sure to put it on while nopony could see so that they don't know about her black crystal. She smiled as she saw the kites that Spike held. " Looks like we are all ready to fly."
Spike nods handing her a blue kite. "Yep, now lets get flying."
Sarah nods, taking the kite and they soon start flying. They flew their kites in the clear blue sky till sunset. While they were flying Spike told stories about all the adventures him and Twilight had. He of course started out with telling her about when Nightmare Moon returned and when they first arrived in Ponyville. He also went on and on about Rarity until Sarah told him to change the subject. Sarah did enjoy a lot of the stories he told her but the story she least liked was the one that mentioned King Sombra. She would love to have told Spike what she knew about him but she couldn't speak about her master. As Sarah noticed the sunset, she turned to Spike. "Let's go home Spike. It's getting late even dragons need their rest."
Spike nods and smiles. "Yeah your right. Thanks for the fun day, I really enjoy having another dragon to hang out with and its even more fun to have you as my sister."
Sarah smiles. "Same for me as well." She starts to head to the library.
When they arrive at the library, Twilight was pacing around. When she saw them enter, she looked at Spike. "Spike I need you to send this to the Princess."
Spike nods as he takes the scroll. "Sure Twilight." He blows his green fire and the scroll was sent to the Princess.
They soon went to bed. Sarah couldn't sleep, she wondered what the letter to the Princess was about. She wondered what it said or if it might have mentioned her. She reached under her clock grabbing the black crystal in her claws. She whispered. "I need to speak to you master."
After a minute the crystal glowed dimly as the voice spoke in her mind. Meet by the Everfree don't leave me waiting or else. The crystal stops it glowing and Sarah headed to the Everfree forest but little did she know that three little fillies decided to try to get there spying cutie marks so they followed her.
When she arrived it was dark and the stars glittered the sky. She looked around and a dark black shadow started to come closer. Sarah looked at the shadow. "Hello Master."
The shadow chuckled. "You wished to speak with me. Is it so important that I have to wait before I can finally rule over my crystal ponies once more." The shadow started to form into his true shape but barely could be held together, only his head could stay in its form while the rest turned back to shadow. He looked like a dark gray unicorn with a smooth curved red horn that looked like it was once broken as a small glow was covering the cracked part. He also had black spiky mane.
Sarah looked at him trying to have some courage. "I want to stop lying. I don't want to hurt them Sombra."
Sombra angrily glared. "You want to stop. Do you not remember who was the one who gave you life, it was I, your master and you will do as you are told."
She looked at the ground as he spoke and when she looked up at him to respond, she had tears in her eyes. "I care about everypony here. They have showed me love, kindness, and generosity. Spike would be very sad if he realize I have been lying. " She looked at the cloak Rarity had given her as a tear fell.
Sombra laughed. "You care about them and that dragon? Remember you are only using him to get to Twilight Sparkle, we need her to help us with my plan. How could you care about him or anypony else when you don't even have your heart. It is in my hooves if you have forgotten." Some of the shadows move to show a small red, beating, glowing mass. Sombra used his shadows to squeeze the mass.
When he did that Sarah clutched her chest with her claw. "Ugh.." The pain he caused her was unbearable. As he continued she knelt to the ground clearly in a lot of pain.
He stopped. "Remember that pain Sarah if you do break any of my orders you will feel much worse and you and your heat will be no more."
Sarah nods as the pain started to subside and she got up. "Yes..master...I will follow orders..." There was a sudden sound of a sneeze coming from nearby bush.
Sombra used his shadows and dragged up Applebloom, Sweetie belle, and Scootaloo from the bush. "Oh look who we have here."
Sarah looked shocked and worried to see them. "Girls! What are you doing here."
Scootaloo looked at Apple Bloom. "Nice going Apple Bloom, now we will never get our spying cutie marks."
Apple Bloom frowned. "Sorry y'all. Your working for King Sombra, Sarah? Why? My sister Applejack told me about him. He is evil."
Sweetie Belle looked over at Sarah. "Wait till Rarity hears about this."
She turned away from them. "I'm sorry. Master don't hurt them, punish me not them."
Sombra chuckled as he made his shadows start to cover the fillies as they started to scream but the shadows muffled them. "No, they know to much. It looks like we may have to change our plans Sarah. Remember all we talked about if you want to save them."
Sarah put her claw on her chest. "Yes master..."
Sombra soon leaves with the Cutiemark Crusaders leaving only a few crystal pillars in front of Sarah.
Sarah cried for a few more minutes, she felt upset that Sombra took the Cutie Mark Crusaders. She knew she couldn't tell anypony about this. She thought about what might Rarity or Applejack say or do about this. Sarah figured that they would be really upset and try to do anything to find them. She wiped the rest of her tears and looked as the sun started to rise. The colors of the night sky changing to light blue with pink and orange mixed in. She sighs. "I better get back before anypony sees me."
Sarah hurried back to the library and went back to her bed, she figured she would try to at least get some sleep before anything else happens.
Spike woke up a few hours later. He was munching on a few gemstones that he forgot he had. He burped as a scroll came out of the fire. He looks at it. "Oh, Its a letter from the Princess."
Sarah turns in her bed as she started to wake up, hearing her fake brother's voice.
Twilight yawned as she came down seeing Spike with a letter in one claw and half a emerald in the other. "Is that for me Spike?"
Spike nods as he gives it to her. "Yes it is. It must be a response to your letter from last night."
Twilight nods before she reads it. "I hope so, my last letter to the Princess was about if she had any ideas to get rid of these crystals." She scans the letter, reading it carefully. She frowns and closes it.
Spike looks at her. "Anything wrong Twilight? If there is can I help."
Sarah sits up and rubs her eyes. She really wanted more sleep. "Whats going on..."
Twilight starts to pace around. "Spike, Sarah, we need to head to the Crystal Empire."
Spike eats the other half of his emerald. "The Crystal Empire? Why?"
Sarah frowned wondering why they need to head there. Her black crystal around her neck glowed but was hidden under her cloak. She heard King Sombra's voice as it came to her mind. Perfect, Sarah sighed thinking of what might happen if she went along with them.
Twilight sighs. "The Princess says we should check the Crystal Empire library for a spell that may help. Lets go get everypony."
Sarah slowly gets out of bed and stretches as Spike grabbed a ruby that he found along with the emerald he had finished eating.
"Here Sarah have some breakfast." He tosses her the ruby.
She catches the ruby and holds it to the light seeing it sparkle. "Thank you Spike." She smiles and eats it.
Twilight looks at them. "Come on you two."
The two dragons nod and follow Twilight out. One by one they started to get everypony. Rainbow dash was practicing her sonic rainbooms. Sarah smiled at the colors. She had never seen anything like it before, she wondered how Rainbow dash could do it with not much effort. Twilight explained to Rainbow dash where they were going and why. Rainbow dash replied by telling Twilight and the dragons that it will be a blast to go back to the Crystal Kingdom since it had been awhile since they all had been there.
The next pony the group found was Pinkie Pie. She was blasting her party cannon everywhere. There were streamers in the trees, confetti all over the ground and in everypony's mane, she also had given out balloons in all shapes and sizes. It seemed like that she wanted any excuse to have a party. Sarah smile grew wider as she watched the pink pony being so happy and crazy. She wondered how Pinkie was able to act as positive all the time. Then suddenly Pinkie's tail starts twitching. The group covers there heads except for Sarah who had no clue what was happening. The next thing she knew a muffin landed on her head as a grey pegasus with a blonde mane and crossed eyes was flying over them with a basket of muffins.
Pinkie pie smiles. "Oh it was just a muffin. I guess that was what my Pinkie Sense was telling me. "
Spike soon explained to Sarah all about Pinkie's Pinkie Sense while Twilight was filling Pinkie about what was happening. After that they soon got Fluttershy who was just feeding her animals. They filled her in as well and soon they were almost ready to go.
They found both Rarity and Applejack at Sweet Apple Acres which seemed strange to Sarah since she thought that Rarity hated everything that was grim and dirty in her eyes. They both looked worried. Sarah could guess why. It was cause they couldn't find their sisters. Twilight went up to them and told the of the plan to go to the Crystal Kingdom.
Applejack frowned. "I would love to Twilight but I can't find Apple Bloom anywhere at the moment and I want to know she's alright."
Rarity nods. "I can't find my sister either. I thought her and the other Cutie Mark Crusaders would be here."
Rainbow dash nods thinking. "Yeah your right. I haven't seen Scootaloo either to tell me how awesome I am."
Spike scratches his head. "That is strange."
Fluttershy nods. "Yes it is. I hope they are alright."
Sarah nods looking at the ground with a frown. She as well wanted the three fillies to be alright since it was her fault they got into this mess. She hoped King Sombra hasn't hurt them.
Twilight looks at Sarah. "Is something wrong Sarah?"
Sarah looked up at Twilight. "No I'm fine. I'm sure the Cutie Mark Crusaders will come back while we're gone."
Applejack nods. "Yeah yer right, I'll just have Big Mac keep his eye out for them."
The group nods and agreed to head to the train station after they had all their things prepared. They went their separate ways. Twilight said she was going to fly back to the library and that left Spike and Sarah walking.
Spike looked at Sarah. "I guess you know how Rarity and Apple Jack feel right now."
Sarah looked back at him wondering what he was talking about. "What do you mean."
"You know not finding you sibling. Like when you couldn't find me." Spike replied.
Sarah nods remembering that she was suppose to be his sister. "Oh yeah, I guess I do. " She gives him a hug.
Spike smiles as he continues to hug her. "We are together now and that's all that matters. AJ and Rarity will find the CMC soon I know it."
Sarah nods and stops the hug, not really believing that they would find the fillies. She expected the worst considering she knew a lot about her master and the pain he was able to cost even if he is just a shadow at the moment.
They continue to walk back to the library and saw Twilight getting her things together. She looked as if she was ready for anything and wanted to get rid of the dark crystal before all of Equestria would be covered. Spike helped Twilight with her things and they all headed to the station. When they got there the rest of the gang was ready to go with their tickets in hoof. Soon the pink train came up and they all went aboard. Sarah took a seat by the window and Spike sat next to her.
"Oh I do hope my dear Sweetie will be home by the time we get back." Rarity said.
Rainbow dash nods. "I bet they are just trying to earn their cutie marks."
Apple Jack shook her head after remembering something. "I know that Apple Bloom didn't come home last night. What in the name of Celestia made them not show up."
"Does anypony know.." Fluttershy said quietly.
The group said that they had no idea. Sarah hesitated to respond at first. "I know..." before she could finish the sentence she felt a horrible pain in her chest from her master squeezing her heart and her crystal glowed back as she heard his voice. Be careful what you say... She took a deep breath.
Twilight looked at her with a worried look. "Are you alright?"
Sarah nods taking another breath. The pain subsided in her chest, the crystal stopped glowing not like anypony could have noticed it and she spoke again, making up a lie to go with her story. "I was saying I know how you both may feel. When I was looking for Spike, I was really worried.."
"Well they will turn up soon and when we do we can celebrate. We have to hope for it but for now lets just focus on those crystals popping up." Pinkie pie replied.
The group nods and start discussing the problem. As they did that Sarah sighed and looked out the window when the train started moving. She thought back to the day she was given life and wondered if she made the right choice that day.
Sarah zoned out and basically ignored everypony as she looked out the window. She watched as they passed green fields full of flowers. She sighed thinking soon they would be near the Crystal Empire and the Frozen North. The Frozen North was where originally Sarah's egg was. She remembered the day she met Sombra like it was yesterday.
It was shortly after Twilight, Spike and the rest of the gang stopped King Sombra his red curved horn was blown away. It landed in the ice cold snow. It still had some magic in it but not much. The magic in his horn was full with enough magic it was able to collect the pieces of shadows that was King Sombra but it took time for it to happen. Over that time Sombra had came up with an idea to get back his body, the crystal heart, and the crystal ponies. When he first was able to manifest himself into mostly shadow but still show his face, he looked around a saw all the snow. He mumbled to himself that he need somepony's help to complete his plan, somepony who could act as a pawn. It was when he discovered a frozen egg. He used his magic to give it life and hatch.
The small dragon that came out was pure white from its claws to its tail. It's eyes were just as white. King Sombra grinned. "Hmm.. This dragon could help me quite well. Just needs a little color change. " He used his magic changing the dragons scales to be like the dragon who helped stopped him. In the end the dragon looked like Spike except with pink instead of green scales on the top of its head. The dragon was still a baby at this time and Sombra used his magic once more, aging it to be about Spike's age and given it details about things like food, enemies, words, and much more.
The dragon looked at him. "Hello..."
Sombra smiled looking at the dragon. "Hello. Your name is....Sarah and I'm your master. I need you to help me with a plan."
Sarah looked around at the surroundings then back at him. "What is the plan?"
Sombra chuckled. "There is a certain group of ponies and dragon, I need you to get close with. You will tell the dragon that you are a lost relative of his and earn his and the others trust , then I will have them come to the Crystal Empire.."
Sarah raised her claw in the air. "How will you make them go there."
"Its quite simple. I will create crystal pillars and they will have to go there to find a spell to get rid of them but the spell you will find and show them would be to get me my whole body back so that I don't have to be shadows anymore. Then I will get back the Crystal Empire and its crystal heart." He said with glee.
Sarah thought for a moment. "What if I don't want to help you."
"You can have anything you desire. I gave you life, helping me is the least you could do." He replied glaring at the dragon, not believing what he was hearing.
Sarah shook her head. "I don't need anything. I have this feeling at it tells me not to trust you."
Sombra chuckled as an idea came to him. "Well if you don't want anything then I'll take something you need." Sombra used his shadows and made it go through her body. When it came out her heart was glowing red as it was wrapped in the shadows. When Sarah saw it she gripped her chest.
"My heart...if you have it how am I still alive." Sarah said looking at the heart.
Sombra gave the heart a slight squeeze, giving Sarah some pain in her chest. "My magic will keep you alive just like how it hatched you so here is the deal if you do what I say then you will live."
Sarah nodded. "Yes master...." She had only just hatched and came to life. She wanted to see what the world was like. She wanted to have adventures, make friends, eat gems, read books and so much more. Her stomach growled. "Do you have any gemstones I can eat."
Sombra created some dark crystals. "Try these." He used his shadows to give one to Sarah.
She tries one and spits it out. "Thats terrible. I'll just find some tastier gems later."
He nods and wraps her up in his shadows. When he unwrapped her, she wore a old cloak and a black crystal necklace. "That necklace is so you and I may speak if needed now head to Ponyville, that is where you will meet those ponies and their dragon."
Sarah nodded. "Yes master.."
The next thing Sarah knew was she felt somepony shaking her. She turned snapping out of her thoughts. She saw Spike.
"We are here." Spike said.
Sarah nodded noticing they were at the train station in the Crystal Empire. "Oh..so we are..."
AppleJack looked at her. "Is something the matter sugarcube?"
She shook her head. "No I'm fine."
They all nod and start to head for the exit of the train. Sarah followed them out last, thinking about what will happen next.
As the got off the train the group was talking quietly as Sarah looked at the ground. The ponies could tell something might be wrong with her since she was quiet the whole way here.
AppleJack looked at Twilight. "I think something is mighty wrong with Sarah, she was mighty quiet all the way here."
Twilight nods. "I noticed, she seemed quiet for a while now. Maybe she knows something we don't."
Spike shook his head not believing it. "No I doubt that. If she knew anything she would have told us or at least me, I am her brother after all."
Rainbow dash flies close by them. "I say we just keep an eye on her still, just to make sure."
Fluttershy spoke softly. "I'm sure she is ok."
Twilight shrugs. "Lets just get to the Library."
The group nods and soon head to the library. It was blue and had griffon statues on the outside. When they get inside they see it was three stories tall with lot of book. Twilight smiles as she sees all of them. "I wonder where the spell could be."
Rarity looks around. "There are so many, it could be any one dear."
Pinkie pie smiled. "We can do it everypony lets start looking."
They all split up and start searching. Sarah took a deep breath and went over to a bookshelf far from the others. "I'm sorry everypony but I must do as my master tells me." A tear fell from her eye as she started to search that bookshelf for the right spell. She started taking the books one by one and looking at the covers trying to see if they were the one her master had told her on one of her.
Twilight had already gone through a big pile of books and yelled out to her friends to see if they found anything. "Did you guys find anything."
Fluttershy shook her head as she had a book on tiny ewes in her hooves. "No."
Rarity shook her head. "Sorry darling, I found nothing of the sort." She flipped though a book on crystal empires past fashion trends.
Pinkie pie gasped and bounced up a down. "I found a book."
Twilight looked stunned surprised that Pinkie pie found the book that might help. "Really let me see."
She handed Twilight the brown covered book with gold trim. Twilight frowned as she read the cover. "101 ways to throw a crystal themed party. Pinkie this isn't the book I need."
Pinkie snatched the book back from her. "No but think of the possibilities Twilight. Think of all the crystal parties we can have back at Ponyville and all the fun. " She flipped to a page with a colorful picture of a goody bag full of things like crystal berries and Crystal Empire berry pie. "Look at the goody bags Twilight. The goody bags!"
Twilight sighed. "It seems nice Pinkie, now lets get back to searching."
Spike was searching hard for the book as he soon got over to Sarah as she was searching. "Hey Sarah, find anything yet."
Sarah shook her head. "Not yet Spike..."
He looked at her. "Sarah is there anything wrong. You seem kind of quiet, is there anything you need."
Sarah shook her head again holding back her tears. She so desperately wanted to tell him. "No Spike, I'm fine don't worry. " When she finished speaking she saw that Spike was giving her a hug.
He smiled. "I'm here if you need me."
She nods. "I..know.." After they spoke Spike went back to searching. Sarah spoke softly to herself. "I...I'm sorry Spike..." She quickly wiped a tear from her eye as she found a small black book. She opened it to the place it was bookmarked. The title said Return to greatness. She knew what this spell would do when Twilight would preform it. She looked around on the bookshelf and saw the magical quill Sombra had hidden for her, it had the power to change any word. She moved it over the title and changed it to The get rid of crystals spell. She shut the book, putting back the quill where she got it. "I found it."
Twilight came running over, she scan the page quickly. To her it looked like it was right. "This seems like it could work. Lets go to the castle and try it out."
Fluttershy smiled at Sarah. "Good job. "
The group congratulated Sarah on her find. They all seemed so proud of her. It was something that no pony had ever felt towards her. She just smiled back at them, telling them it was just luck and with that they went off to the gigantic beautiful crystal castle. After several minutes they arrived and waiting for them was a white unicorn with a sapphire blue mane with cerulean and dark blue stripes. He was standing by a pink alicorn with a dark violet with rose and pale gold streaks mane. The unicorn smiled. "Twilly."
Twilight smiled back. "Shining Armor! Cadance!" Twilight ran up to them and her and Cadence started to a sing song dance thing. "Sunshine, sunshine, ladybugs awake! Clap your hooves and do a little shake!"
Sarah smiled thinking that it was cute.
Shining Armor gave Twilight a hug. "Its good to see you. Did you find the spell?"
She nods and smiles, holding up the book. "Yeah Sarah found it."
Shining Armor and Cadance looked at Sarah. "I don't beleive we have met. I'm Cadance and this is my husband Shining Armor." Cadance said with a smile.
Sarah smiles. "Its nice to meet you both. I'm Spike's sister."
They nod and smile. "Well lets get to the spell." Shining armor said.
Twilight nods as she opens the book and reads the spell aloud. "In times of hardship and when its the end of rule. All this time its been so cruel. I cast this spell to correct a wrongful fall, its time to become whole once and for all. " As soon the spell started the sky grew dark.
Rainbow dash looked at Twilight. "Is this suppose to happen..."
Twilight frowned. "I don't know. Sarah are you sure this is the right spell..."
As sky grew more dark and shadows soon started to come closer to them and the sound of evil cackling could be heard. Sarah looked at the group. "It is the right spell." The shadows started to form into something pony shaped.
Spike looked at Sarah. "Sarah whats going on. You said this is the right spell."
There was more cackling as King Sombra's full shape was complete. He smiled. "Its time to take back my empire."
Everypony but Sarah gasped. "Sombra." They all said in shock.
Sarah whispered quietly so nopony could hear. "Master..."
Twilight looked at her friends then back at Sombra. "How could this be...the spell said it was going to get rid of the crystal pillars."
Sombra chuckled. "Oh silly Twilight Sparkle but the spell was wrong. Now I'm going to be taking back my throne now."
Cadance glared angrily at him. "This isn't your throne Sombra, it is mine."
He rolled his eyes. "Well then I'll just take the crystal heart. " He used his magic and grasped the crystal heart.
When Rainbow dash saw that happen, she knew she had to do something. She quickly flew toward the crystal heart and knocked it out of his magic. "Fluttershy catch."
Fluttershy cowardly turned away not wanting it to hit her. "Eep."
Spike grabbed it before Sombra's magic could get by Fluttershy as it had gotten close to her. He looked at it thinking about when he first helped return back to the crystal empire when they first visited it. He looked at the others to see who was open. Twilight looked open as the others where close by Sombra. "Twilight."
Before Spike could throw it. Sombra said, "If it is a game of catch then I am surely out numbered, I should try to even out the teams a little. " His glowed as a puff of black smoke appeared. When it cleared there stood the three Cutie Mark Crusaders. They looked how they normally did except their eyes looked as if they had swirls in them.
AppleJack smiled. "Apple Bloom come over here now sugercube."
Rarity nodded. "Thank Celestia you are safe Sweetie, now come to your sister."
They all stood silently as if they were waiting for a command.
Rainbow dash looked at Scootaloo. "Come over and stand by your hero Scootaloo. " When she saw Scootaloo not coming over by her side like normal she glared a Sombra with anger. "What did you do to them Sombra."
Sombra smiles. "I just made them into my minions, no big deal. Now my slaves get the crystal heart."
"This is the worst possible thing." Rarity says.
AppleJack looked angry. "Give me back my sister Sombra, you thief."
He shook his head and grinned. "No they are mine now. Now as I said before my slaves get the crystal heart."
They three fillies nod and spoke in unison. "Yes master." They galloped toward Spike.
Spike looked around quickly not wanting Sombra to have the heart. He saw Sarah was open and he knew he could trust her with the heart. "Sarah catch." He tossed it to her.
Sarah caught it but wished that Spike hadn't thrown it to her.
Sombra smiled. "Now hand it over to me Sarah."
Pinkie gasped. "Don't do it."
Shining Armor looked at Sarah. "Toss it here."
Sarah shook her head and walked over to her master. She held it out to him. "Here you go master."
Pinkie gasped again. "Master?Just wait a second." She pulled a random glass of water out of no where and did a spit take.
Spike looked at Sarah, his eyes full of sadness. "You were working for him along...Why.." His eyes changed from sadness to anger. "Was any of it true? Are you really my sister? Did you really care about me??"
Fluttershy looked sad. "Oh..please say its not true Sarah."
Sarah looked at the ground. "It was all a lie..It was all apart of Sombra's plan." She didn't want to say anything else.
Rarity looked her straight in the eyes. "How could you do that to over Spikey-Wikey, you monster. You are no better than Sombra here."
AppleJack frowned. "I can't believe we trusted you."
Twilight looks at Sombra. "You won't get away with this."
Sombra smiled. "I already did thanks to you." He looked at the crystal heart that Sarah had given him. He used his magic making it turn grey, filling the empire with sadness. He then made a ring of crystals trap the group of ponies and used his magic to make the trapped ponies teleport away from his sight. He looked at Sarah and the brainwashed Cutie Mark Crusaders. "Time to go."
They nod and follow as they walk away into the castle. Sarah looked at the ground as a tear fell from her eyes. "So what now, my master? I did what you said, will you release these fillies and let me have my heart."
When they got to the throne room Sombra set the heart down and used his magic to hold onto the glowing heart that at one point was in Sarah's chest. "These fillies can be taken to one of the towers and locked inside. They are of no use to me at the moment. Your heart on the other hoof is another matter. You still can provide my help for me."
Sarah looked at him, her eyes full of tears. "But I helped you. I want it back." She jumped at him to get it.
He used his magic to raise it higher, making her fall on her face. He squeezed the heart creating a dreadful pain in her chest. "You dare try such a thing. As long as my magic run through your dragon veins, you are mine unless you would rather have me squeeze your heart to dust. " He squeezes it harder and the pain increases.
"AHH.." Sarah screamed. "Just...stop.."
After a moment Sombra stopped and made her heart disappear. "Good we understand each other, now take them to a tower." He pointed to Sweetie Belle, Apple Bloom and Scootaloo.
Sarah nodded and looked at the fillies. "Follow me."
The fillies looked at Sarah then at Sombra as he nodded his head in approval. They followed her silently.
When they left Sombra looked at the crystal heart. "Soon all of Equestria will be under my dark rule."
As he spoke it was clear that Sombra's rule had once again began as almost everything in the empire started to fade in color and as the crystal ponies lost their shimmering coats and became full of gloom. Slowly soon all of Equestia may end up like the Crystal Empire now.
Sarah brought the three fillies up to a tower in the castle. She opened a brown wooden door and walked inside. The room was a sparkling blue room that was clean with a trunk at the foot of the bed, the bed had nice warm covers, there were a few paintings on the wall, a purple rug on the floor and it looked like that this room was a guest room for when an important pony would visit the empire. The Cutie Mark Crusaders' eyes went back to normal as Sombra's magic faded. Apple Bloom looked at Sarah. "What the hay just happened? "
Scootaloo looked at Sarah as well. "You let Sombra take us and your lying to our friends."
Sarah nods. "Yes, I know. I have to do what I am told, I am sorry that you three are now under Sombra's control it wasn't meant to be like that." She walked to the middle on the room making sure everything looked at least comfortable for them.
Sweetie Belle sighed. "We heard what Sombra said, is it true that he has your heart?"
Sarah looked at the ground and nodded. "It is..his magic is being used to keep me alive while its not here. "
Scootaloo frowned. "That is so not awesome. We need to get out of here."
Sarah shoot her head. "No I am sorry but you must stay here till Sombra needs your services."
"But I don't want to." Apple Bloom cried.
"Yeah we don't have to listen to him." Scootaloo added to what Apple Bloom had said.
Sarah sighed as she looked at the fillies, they all had moved from standing in the room to sitting on the big comfy bed that was in the room. She knew that they all wanted to be with their sisters and friends.
Apple Bloom looked at her before she went out the door. "Where is my sister?"
Scootaloo nodded. "Where is Rainbow dash?"
"I want Rarity here." Sweetie Belle cried.
She sighed. "They are most likely under ground." Sarah closed the door and locked it with the key she had.
Once she left the three fillies looked at each other. They spent a few minutes in silent letting their thoughts just go around in their minds as they thought of what Sombra might make them do if they stayed here. They also hoped that everypony would be alright and that none was hurt. Scootaloo stood up. "Come on girls, we are the Cutie Mark Crusaders. We can't just do nothing. We need to get out of here."
Sweetie Belle nodded. "We need to come up with a plan then."
Apple Bloom nodded and with that they all started to chat and come up with a plan.
Meanwhile Twilight , her friends, her brother and sister-in-law were still trapped in a circle of crystal in a dark place. Twilight made her horn glow so that they could see and she looked around seeing a whole bunch of crystals on the wall. She looked at Cadence. They both thought that this place looked a lot like the crystal cave systems that are under Canterlot. Rainbow dash tried to break their prison by flying into the crystal pillars that surrounded them. "We need to get out of here in like ten seconds or faster."
Twilight nodded as she faced everypony. "We do Rainbow but I don't think doing that will work."
Shining Armor thought for a minute. "We all could try to do a spell."
Rarity smiled. "That is an excellent idea. "
Twilight nods. "We can try." She looks at Cadence and they both do the spell together. They end up doing the spell correctly but they ended up back where they were. The crystals that held them filled up and glowed with the magic from their spell. Twilight and Cadence felt a little tired from doing their spell.
Cadence noticed this happening. "Oh, no the crystal as absorbing our magic. It wont work."
Pinkie pie gasps. "Oh no. "
AppleJack started to kick the crystals as if she was bucking those green leaved apple trees on her farm at Sweet Apple Acres. They were pretty hard and couldn't break easily. When she was able to break one it would just grow back in 2 seconds or so. "Well we are in a real pickle it seems. Maybe if Big Mac was here we could break them faster."
Twilight sighs and looked at Spike who was awfully quite. "Spike is something wrong?"
He nodded. "She lied to me. She made me feel so happy that I finally have a family like everypony that I know. I was so glad that I wouldn't be alone anymore but it was all a lie."
Rarity looked at him. "Well that monster will get her just deserts. She will know that it was wrong to mess with the heart of our Spikey- Wikey. I should have never made her that cloak even if she did look fabulous in it."
"I should have never thrown her that party." Pinkie replied with a frown.
"I wanna buck that dragon into next week for messing with our trust and knowing where our sisters were." AppleJack replied.
Rainbow dash nodded in agreement. "I wouldn't mind putting a thunder cloud over her evil little head."
"I can't believe such a thing happened. She seemed like a nice dragon." Fluttershy said in her usual soft tone.
Shining Armor looked at all the gloomy faces. "I guess you learned not to give your trust out so easily. She only wanted to get close to you all so Twilight could do that spell."
Twilight nodded. "I knew something was fishy when Sarah first showed up but I guess I was so happy for Spike I just let it be."
Spike frowned. "I hate her..if I ever see her again..it will be too soon."
The Cutie Mark Crusaders were still trying to come up with a plan. It soon became around lunch time where there was the sound of a key turning in the lock. Sarah opened the door then pushed a small food chart full of things like crystal berries and pies. There was also a few books on the cart. Sarah turned to them. "I brought you some food."
Scootaloo looked at the food. "Well we are pretty hungry..." She quickly went to grab a slice of pie.
Sweetie Belle grabbed a berry and noticed when Sarah took off her pink cloak, setting it on the bed. That she wore a black crystal around her neck. "Sarah, whats that?"
Sarah folded up her cloak. She didn't feel like she should wear it any more. When she heard Sweetie's question, she touched the crystal with her claw. "It is something Sombra gave me. It is so he can speak with me and for him to keep track of me." She took off the necklace and held it out to the fillies.
Apple Bloom looked at it. "It needs more color."
Sarah nodded. "I know..." She looked at her cloak. "You guys can keep that. I don't deserve something that Rarity had made for me." She slipped her necklace back on and looked at the books that was on the cart. "I also brought you three some books. I thought they might waste some time before you are needed." She set the books on the bed and pushed the cart out of the room and locked the door.
Scootaloo finished her slice of pie. "Ok girls, lets try to break down the door. On the count of three. One...two...three.." All three of the fillies ran toward the door and smashed into it. They did that several times till they were able to bust the lock and open the door. "Cutie Mark Crusaders escape artists." They all said. They all checked their flanks to see if they got their cutie marks but frowned disappointed that none appeared.
Sweetie Belle smiled. "Lets go save Rarity."
"And Applejack and the rest of the gang." Apple Bloom added.
They went through the castle looking for a way to get to the others but they failed to hear the sounds of hooves walking towards them. "So which way?" Scootaloo asked.
"How should I know?" Sweetie and Apple Bloom said in unison. They continued walking till they bumped into somepony.
It was King Sombra. He glared at them. "It seems I have some troublesome ponies who tried to escape..."
"Run girls...." Apple Bloom shouted. They all started to run but Sombra used his magic to make them go under his control once more. They all stopped in their tracks.
"Now how about I put you all to work." Sombra said.
The brain washed fillies nodded and said, "Whatever you please Master."
He smiled and lead them to the kitchen where there were mass piles of dirty dishes. They were piled up as high as the ceilings. "Get to work." He told them and left.
The fillies nodded and turned on the water and started to was the dishes using the sparkly Crystal Empire Soap.
Sombra went over to the throne room finding Sarah polishing his throne. "Sarah those fillies tried to escape."
Sarah gasped almost dropping the rag that she was using to polish the throne. "I'm sorry... I didn't know. I'll repair the door, put in a stronger lock, it will never happen again. Sir."
Sombra nodded. "You better hope it does not. I'm going to where I placed the hearts.."
Sarah nodded she knew that Sombra had moved the Crystal heart to where he last hid it and he also moved her own heart which was know placed in a locked box with it. Sombra looked at her once more before he left. "When you are finished here, make sure those fillies are back where they go."
Sarah nodded. "Yes sir."
Sombra left and went to check on the crystal heart. He was glad to have the empire back under his control and was also glad that hatred and fear had taken over the Empire as well because slowly all of Equestria was started to become like the Empire is now.
Sarah had sighed. "Those fillies. " She finished polishing the throne and went to the kitchen. When she arrived there the three of them were acting like a well oiled machine. They were almost finished. She waited a few minutes and once she saw that they were done, she quickly went to fix the door and put on a better lock. Sarah then took the girls back to their prison, if you actually felt like calling it that. Once they got there Sombras magic faded and they had control again.
Sweetie Belle looked around. "AWWW, we are back here."
Sarah nodded. "Yes you are. You shouldn't have escaped. Now I suggest you get some reading done. The big green book is especially interesting. " She went to the bed and pulled the green book from the pile. She touched her necklace making only a part of it break off. She set the book down to the fillies and the shard of her black crystal that she just broke off and walked out leaving the fillies.
Scootaloo look at the book. "Reading really? "
Sweetie Belle nooded. "Yeah she must be an egghead."
Scootaloo opened the book. "Yeah but not as big of an egghead as Twilight. Rainbow dash says so."
Apple Bloom looked at the crystal shard. "Why did Sarah leave this." She picks it up.
Scootaloo turned a few pages. "Who knows... hey look at this." She showed them a spell. It was called the movement spell.
Sweetie Belle looked at the page and read aloud. "Needs a crystal. Say the spell in front of the crystals you want moved then use one crystal that you have and move it. The others should move too..."
"Sarah must have left this here so we can some how send it to AppleJack and the others." Apple Bloom replied when Sweetie had finished.
Scootaloo nodded. "Well how can we get it to them?"
Apple Bloom looked at the shard in her hooves. "Hm..this is a piece of the crystal that Sarah has and it is full of magic... maybe if we say a teleport spell we can send the book and this to them."
Sweetie smiled. "Your a genius Apple Bloom." She searched through the other books and found a teleport spell. "Ok set the shard on the book."
Apple Bloom set it down. "ok do it."
Sweetie Belle nodded and looked at the spell. "Take this to our friends, they will need it so we can get out in the end."
The shard glowed black and the glow started to cover the book. A second after the book disappeared and now the the girls could only hope that everything will turn out well.
Back in the underground crystal caves systems. The group had no clue how to get out. They had tried to make several attempts but all failed. Spike was still angry. "Its all my fault. I should have never trusted her...she lied to me..tricked us and got us trapped."
AppleJack nodded. "Just like a mouse in a mouse trap. She laid the bait and we took it."
"Don't worry Spikey-Wikey, its not your fault. It is that snake's fault." Rarity said.
"Actually she isnt a snake. Sarah is a dragon." Fluttershy said softly.
Rainbow dash facehoofs.
Twilight nodded. "We need to get out of here but these crystal soak up our power.....If only I had a spell."
"Yeah a spell would be great now Twilly." Shining Armor said.
Rainbow dash looked at Twilight. "Its not like a spell book is going to drop from the sky." When she said that the book and crystal shard hit Rainbow on the head. "Scratch that..." She rubs her head and gives the book and shard to Twilight.
Twilight takes them. "I guess somepony wants to help us..."
"But who?" Cadence asks.
"Don't know." Twilight says as she looks through the book. "Lets see... the movement spell. We can use this shard to move the crystals apart to make a big enough gap to get out."
"Then do it." Pinkie pie charmed in.
Twilight nodded she did the spell and moved the crystal shard as it gave off a faint glow. The circle of crystals that were surrounding the group started to move apart, creating a big enough opening for them all to get out.
"Good job Twi." AppleJack said.
"Yes, good job. Now lets go free Sweetie Belle and the others." Rarity said.
Cadence nodded. "You go and find them, while me and Shining Armor go to the library to find a way to get rid of Sombra."
Twilight nods. "Alright everypony move out." The group nodded and soon they found their way out of the cave system. Shining Armor and Cadence went to the library while the others and Spike went to free the CMC.
The mane six and Spike got in front of the castle. They looked around and saw a few of the crystal ponies, they looked sad and not sparkly. Twilight looked at her friends. "We need to find the Cutie Mark Crusaders right away."
AppleJack nods. "We darn too-ten need to and I don't see the crystal heart, how about y'all?"
Rainbow dash looked around. "Yeah its not here. Sombra must have hidden it again."
Pinkie Pie was bouncing up and down. "Don't worry everypony. Twilight can find it like she did last time."
Twilight smiled. "I'm sure I can find it but we first must find the girls."
"Lets hope that despicable Sombra or that wicked Sarah have not done anything to them." Rarity replied.
Spike looked at the ground. "I...I..want..." He couldn't really finish his sentence.
"What is it Spike?" Fluttershy asked.
Spike looked up at them, his claws clenched. "I want to find Sarah. She is the reason why we are here. You guys go find the Cutie Mark Crusaders and then head to the library to meet up with Shining Armor and Cadence. "
Twilight looked at him with concern in her eyes. She wondered what he would do if he found her. Would they get into a fight? Will he end up fighting Sombra and something happen to her favorite assistant? She sighed and figured she would have to hope nothing will happen. "Do you want one of us to help you look?"
Spike shook his head. "No..this is something I have to do."
"Make sure when you see that trickster you give her the old one, two for me. Rainbow dash said as she moved her hooves in a boxing motion.
"Yes make her pay." Rarity said.
"Do what ever you think is best" Applejack told Spike.
"Please don't do anything drastic Spike." Fluttershy said.
Twilight nodded. "Then go. Everypony else lets start the search."
Pinkie pie pulls out a crystal flugelhorn and plays it. "Charge!" She said after she finished playing.
Rarity rolls her eyes. "Pinkie dear this is no time for that."
Applejack nods. "Yes lets go." She gallops inside and went down one of the hallways.
Soon everypony but Twilight and Spike were inside. Twilight took one last look at her friend. "Please be careful Spike, I don't want anything to happen to you."
Spike nodded. "Same to you Twi." Him and her went inside the castle. Twilight took the hallway that the others went down while Spike went down another. The search was on to find their allies but also the one they called their enemy.
Meanwhile the door to their room was slammed shut and was locked as the Cutie Mark Crusaders were done being brain washed zomponies. They had spent their day scrubbing the crystal floors, washing the windows and cleaning the rest of the castle from top to bottom. They looked around the room and saw that somepony, most likely Sarah had left a few plates full of crystal corn and crystal candy in there. Sweetie Belle fell straight to the bed and covered up with the pink cloak that Sarah had left. "Well at least we know we didn't get our cutie marks in castle cleaning..."
Scootaloo sighed as she sat on the floor. "Yeah...but I don't think we would get them since we were controlled."
"Yeah, y'all are right." Apple Bloom added. She was glad that they didn't get their cutie marks in castle cleaning and she was able to agree with Scoots that they wouldn't have gotten it anyway. "I wonder what Sarah is up to..."
Sweetie Belle had tears in her eyes. "I want Rarity here. I'm tired of being here, I want my sister."
Scootaloo looked at Apple Bloom as she stood up. "I wonder that too, we didn't see her yet today." She went over to the bed and gave Sweetie a hug. "I know Sweetie, we miss the others too. They will either find us soon or we will get out of here and find them.
She nodded and looked at her. "Yeah I know. I hope that spell thing we did with that crystal shard and book worked."
Apple Bloom smiled. "I hope so too."
Scootaloo smiled. "I'm sure it worked. Sarah wouldn't have given it to us and pointed it out if she didn't think it would work. She wants to get rid of that nasty Sombra as well, he does have her heart still."
Sweetie Belle wrapped herself in the pink cloak. "And he is keeping her alive with his magic while he holds onto it. If he is defeated what will happen to her? "
"Boy...that is one hard question to answer Sweetie Belle. I'm sure my sister and the others can figure it out." Apple Bloom replied. She went over to the plates with the crystal candy and corn and picked some up. "Lets eat y'all."
The other two nodded and went over to eat.
While this was happening Sarah was in her own room. It was blue colored wall room with a small bed and rug. That was it nothing else. She had been following Sombra's orders all day, whether it was getting him a meal fit for a king, being a jester, or taking notes. She smiled at the thought of taking notes. It reminded her of when Spike would take notes for Twilight. She looked at the black crystal on her necklace. It now looked whole again since the magic in it made it so the piece she took off would grown back making it look like nothing had happened. She really hoped that the little magic in the shard of crystal had enough power to help Spike and his friends, she hoped that they would find the Cutie Mark Crusaders since it was her fault they were here. She was only glad that she was able to sneak food in the room also known as their prison for them. She sighed. She really wished that since had never happened. She wished that Sombra had never found her egg and gave it life, she wished he never gave her knowledge, took her heart, kept her alive with his magic and she mostly wished that she never had to lie to Spike. Even if the story she told him about them being sibling was false, she still considered him, her only family. He was a baby dragon after all just like her. Their beginnings may have been different like paths they walk today but they were still dragons none the less.
Twilight soon caught up to her friends. They all were ready to search the castle high and low for their friends. Rainbow dash was being look out in case they were to run into Sombra. She flew up and down the hall. "So which way?"
Fluttershy looked around. "I don't know, this place is so big."
"They could be anywhere." Rarity said.
AppleJack nodded. "Lets hope they aren't with that monster Sombra."
"Or that witch Sarah." Pinkie pie said as she pulled out a witches hat out of nowhere.
Twilight looked at them. "I don't think name calling will get us anywhere. Where could they be?"
Pinkie pie put her hoof to her chin and started thinking. "Lets see...In story books the ponies are always trapped in a dungeon or guarded in a tower by a giant fire breathing dragon. So do any of you see a giant fire breathing dragon?"
"I don't think there are any dragons here besides Spike and Sarah. Maybe we can just search around really quietly." Fluttershy responded.
Pinkie pie put away her her hat. "Okay Fluttershy, lets start searching."
Then the group slowly and quietly started to search the castle. Rarity kept moving curtains, checking behind them for a secret passage or to check the stitching on them. Pinkie pie pulled out a magnify glass and was using it as if she was searching for clues. Fluttershy was checking under vases as she was searching. Rainbow dash was flying as she heard the sound of hooves coming towards them. She flew as fast as she could to get back to her friends. "Everypony hide! Somepony is coming!"
Everypony nodded and hid behind whatever they could, like the curtains that Rarity was looking at or some opened up a door and found out it was a broom closet and hid there. They had the door opened a cracked and peaked out of the curtains to see who was coming. It turned out to be King Sombra. He didn't even seem to notice the ponies where there. Rainbow dash whispered inside the broom closet. "Lets get him."
Twilight looked at her and whispered. "Shh..Rainbow, that would be a bad idea at the moment. Lets first just go with our plan to find the Cutie Mark Crusaders. "
Sombra talked to himself as he walked down the hallway, still not knowing the ponies where there. "Hmm...Maybe I should go get those fillies from their room inside the tower and have them give me a hooficure." He soon walked offed and the ponies come out of their hiding place.
"A hooficure? The only pony who Sweetie will give a hooficure to is me. " Rarity said moving her hoof through her mane.
"Did...you hear that they are in a tower." Fluttershy said.
Applejack nodded. "Lets go get them then." Applejack quickly went running wanting to get to her sister.
Pinkie pie was right by her as they followed her. "We're off to find the CMC, the best ponies we know." She sand to the turn of "We're off to see the wizard", from the movie the Wizard of OZ.
"Pinkie this is no time for singing." Rainbow dash said. They all turned down a hallway and went up some stairs.
As they were walking Twilight was wondering how Spike was doing, she hoped that he wasn't in any trouble. That would be really bad. She didn't want to see anything happen to him, maybe she should have gone with him to look for Sarah. "Maybe one of us should have gone with Spike. He could be in trouble."
Rainbow dash looked at her. "Don't worry Twilight, Spike should be fine."
Rarity nods. "Yes darling, Spike is capable of handling things himself."
"I'm not sure he still is a baby dragon after all." Fluttershy said.
Twilight nods and sighs. "I really do hope he is alright. "
They all nod and soon got to a locked door. Rainbow dash shouted. "SCOOTALOO! APPLE BLOOM! SWEETIE BELLE! ARE YOU IN THERE!!!"
Applejack covered her mouth with her hoof. "Quite down sugarcube, we don't want the whole castle to hear us."
Rainbow dash nodded and Applejack removed her hoof from her mouth. "Sorry AJ" She said in a whisper.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders heard them and started jumping up down. "We're here. "
Apple Bloom ran to the door. "Buck the door down Applejack."
Twilight looked at AJ. "That might be a bad idea. We might not want Sombra and Sarah to know that they are gone right away. I'll just use my magic to pick the lock."
Pinkie jumped up and down and smiled. "Or we can crawl through the key hole."
"I say we go with Twilight's idea if you don't mind." Fluttershy said.
Pinkie shrugs. "Suite yourself."
Twilight used her magic and opened the lock. They went inside and immediately Rarity and Applejack were giving their sisters a hug and Rainbow dash was hugging Scootaloo. They all looked happy to see each other.
Applejack smiled. "I'm so glad to see y'all. Are you alright?"
Rarity nodded. "Please tell me that nasty scaled dragon Sarah didn't do anything to you."
Rainbow dash stopped hugging Scootaloo and punched her hooves together. "And if she did I'll beat her up."
The three fillies looked at each other, shook their heads and said in unison. "Sarah is good not evil. She helped us."
Twilight raised an eyebrow not believing it. "Really? She got you trapped here."
Scootaloo shook her head once more and grabbed the green book that Sarah left here. "It was our fault. We thought we could get our cutie marks in spying. She didn't want Sombra to take us. Sombra has her heart, she has to do what he wants or else he will kill her."
Pinkie gasps. "He has her heart.."
Apple Bloom nodded. "Yes. Sarah gave us this book and we used a spell in it to get a piece of a crystal she had and a sheet of paper that had a spell so you can get free." She pointed to the book Scootaloo had.
"How can she live if he has her heart? " Fluttershy asked.
Twilight nods agreeing with Fluttershy's question. She also wanted to know how it was possible.
Sweetie Belle grabbed the pink cloak that Sarah had left there. "She says it was cause his magic runs through her veins. She also said she doesn't deserve the cloak you made Rarity."
Rarity took the cloak as tears filled her eyes. "Oh..that poor dragon. If only we knew this sooner. "
They all nodded and all but the CMC said. "SPIKE!"
"Oh he doesnt know...that Sarah is good. He still is so angry." Fluttershy says.
Pinkie nods. "Who knows what he will do."
"We must search for him y'all" Apple Jack said.
Twilight nods. "That is true girls but I don't want to risk all of us getting captured again. " She took a deep breath and looked at the ground. "I believe its best we get back to Shining Armor and Princess Cadence. We can make a plan to fix this all once and for all there. Let's get out of here."
"What about Spike? We don't want him to hurt Sarah." Sweetie said.
"Lets just hope he doesn't, now I'm going to do a spell to teleport us. Everypony together in a group. " Twilight said.
They nodded and Twilight did the spell and they were out of the castle. The CMC looked at each other and really hoped that Sarah would be alot. Who could have guessed what might have happened if she didn't help them.
Meanwhile in Sarah's room, she was writing. She had excellent memory but she wanted write everything that she seen, heard and remembered since the day Sombra used his magic to hatch her from her egg and given her life. She even write down things that didn't make sense to her like a sound she thought she heard or a dream she had that made no sense. When she thought about it, the real reason why she was writing was just in case Sombra did crush her heart and she died so that other ponies could know what she did.
Sarah had a quill in claw as she was writing on a scroll. As she was writing each of these journal entries she thought about everything she had been doing, she thought all the lies she had told and everything that she hidden. She knew Sombra's dark magic flowed though her veins. It kept her alive but would her being alive mean that others had to fall under Sombra's control. She sighed as she put her quill down.
She started to pace the room. "This bad...maybe I am bad. Maybe I should just leave..." She shook her head. "No I must not. If I did Sombra would crush my heart turning it to dust and I would be gone. If I left would that mean Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo be in even in more trouble? I can't let anything happen to them. They are the only ones who trust me.." She shed a few tears from her eyes.
Sarah went over to the scrolls that she had been writing her journal in. She looked at the first entry that she wrote and read it aloud to make sure it sounded write. "Dear Journal, Today I woke up to seeing Sombra my master. He said I was needed for a plan. I didn't want to help him so he took my heart and now his evil magic is flowing through my veins. I now start my travels to find a place known as Ponyville and to find a dragon known as Spike. I look at the colors of my scales and wondered if just sort of looking like this dragon will make him believe that I am his family. I wonder if I have any family.. I guess that it for now. I must begin my travels from Sarah."
Sarah set that entry down. She looked at the last sentences and said one of them to herself. "I wonder if I have any family.." She thought about Spike and how he wondered if he had a family. "I really do know how you feel..." She said just as quietly. She sat on the floor till her black crystal glowed. Sombra's words echoed in her mind. Sarah you are needed please report to the throne room immediately.
Sarah nodded. "I'm coming Master." She stood up as her crystal stopped glowing. She headed to the throne room. As she walked through the castle she looked around. It was a beautiful castle with amazing design, she wished she didn't have to see the Cutie Mark Crusaders clean it. After a few minutes Sarah arrived in the throne room. Sombra sat on the crystal throne that he turned black. Sarah bowed. "You called me here Master.."
Sombra nodded. "I would like to ask you something."
She nodded. "Yes sir, what is it?"
"What do you think of those fillies that we have imprisoned in the tour?" Sombra asked her.
Sarah looked at him. "They are nice..good workers when you have them under your excellent power. Why are you asking me?"
Sombra gave an evil smile. "I am sorry to say but I would like to get rid of them. I feel as if I have no use for them. Kill them at once."
Sarah looked shocked. "What? I will do no such thing! " She didn't want to hurt the only ones who trusted her. She also knew that since she stood up against her master's orders that he might crush her heart.
Sombra put his hooves together. "Even with out a heart you care about those ponies."
"You don't need a heart to feel Sir." Sarah replied. "I beg you don't hurt them."
Sombra thought for a moment. "Fine I will reconsider it but don't expect to be free at this time. You may leave, that is all."
Sarah nodded. She knew she would never be free but she could only hope. She had to hope that maybe Spike and his friends would come and help if they didn't want to get revenge on her first. She knew she lied to them but maybe they would forgive her one day. She headed to her room not noticing a baby dragon like shadow following her.
When she got to her room she grabbed a random scroll and was going to start writing a journey entry but when she looked at it, she saw that she had already already have written on this one. As she glanced over the scroll she found it was one that she wrote about the time she was traveling. She read it softly aloud to herself. "Dear Journal, I have been traveling for days from the Frozen North to this place called Ponyville. Along my journey I have been mostly alone with just my thoughts. I have spent I don't know how many hours just practicing what I'm going to say. It seems like it is going to be tough to lie but I might be able to do it when the time is right. It is almost nightfall and I munch on an garnet gem. I hope that I don't have any weird dreams tonight, it seems like since I was hatched I have had these dreams where I keep seeing a frozen pool and a frozen land. I think it might be the Frozen North but I am not sure. In these dreams the words snow and unborn keep bouncing around in my head. This makes me think was I never meant to be born. I guess I'll sleep on it. From Sarah." She set scroll down.
When Sarah thought about it she still kept dreaming about those words while she slept. She never told anypony not even her master. She just kept it to herself and hoped that maybe those dreams would stop. She took her quill and start writing on a clean scroll. She wrote more recent events involving the treatment of the Cutie Mark Crusaders and how she made sure to bring them food and stuff. As she was writing she started wondering what Spike was doing and how the others were. Then there was a sudden knock to the door.
Twilight and the others have just teleported out of the castle. They were heading to the library to meet up with Shining Armor and Cadence. They all were in their own minds thinking about about the same thing. It wasn't what their next move would be, it wasn't about tests, flying, designing, taking care of animals, throwing parties, or trying to get their cutiemarks. They were thinking about Sarah. They now understood that she didn't want the CMC to be captured and that she wanted everypony be to okay. She only lied because Sombra had something she needed. As Twilight lead the group to the library she wondering if she could find the crystal heart more and also Sarah's heart. She wondered if there was a spell that could fix it all but she doesn't know.
They soon get to the library where the true rulers of Crystal Empire were waiting for them. They have been searching for a spell that might help their cause. Shining Armor smiled. "Twilly! You all are alright."
Cadence turned to them seeing the CMC. "And you found the fillies this is great. We are pretty sure we will find the right spell that can help us soon."
Twilight nods. "Yes we have and we learned some interesting news."
Cadence raised an eyebrow. "Really? "
Apple Bloom nodded. "Yes, Sarah didn't want to betray y'all. She didn't even want us captured. Sombra used his magic to hatch her from an egg just like a Scootaloo...."
Scootaloo looked at her. "Don't you mean a chicken?"
She nodded. "Well isn't that what you are?"
Before they could start bickering about if Scootaloo was a chicken or not Shining armor stepped in. "Please go on with the story."
Apple Bloom nodded. "Ok, So Sombra hatched Sarah and when she didn't want to do his plan, he took her heart so she would have to do it. His magic is keeping her alive with out it."
"She also gave us the materials needed to help free you guys." Added Sweetie Belle.
Cadence nods. "So she is a victim in this as well, wait isn't Spike going after her."
Rarity nods as she refolds Sarah's pink cloak. She wanted to keep it nice and neat. "Yes it seems so. We must help her and tell Spike before he can do anything."
Shining Armor nods. "We have informed Princess Celestia and Luna about what is going on, they are on their way as fast as they can. Sombra's control over the crystal heart is making most of Equestria scared and sad. We must get back the Crystal heart."
Applejack adjusts her hat. "Yeah we need that heart. If we can get it and make the crystal ponies become cheerful and happy then hope and happiness with shine through out Equestria right."
Twilight nods. "That is right Applejack. Now the crystal heart must be where me and Spike found it. Maybe the Sarah's heart is there too. "
"Good idea girls. Now lets search for that spell." Pinkie says then pulls out a crystal flugelhorn and plays it.
The librarian pony tells her to be quite and soon the group starts their search, looking for the spell. After some time searching Twilight found one. She called to the others. "Hey everypony, I think I found it." She showed the spell to them. "It's called the heavenly light spell and it looks like both me and Cadence need to preform it and that it makes the pony that it is cast on turned to permanent shadow and that any and all magic the pony did disappear."
The rest of mane six nodded and wondered if Sarah knew about this spell.
Cadence nods. "Thats what it seems. We will hold onto the spell while you go get the crystal heart."
Applejack nods. "Alright. Cutie Mark Crusaders. You will stay here with Cadence and Shining Armor."
"No we want to help." Apple Bloom said. They did not want to be left out on this. They wanted to help Sarah since she helped them.
Fluttershy shook her head. " I'm sorry girls but it will be too dangerous for you."
Twilight nods. "Yes it will be, we don't want you to get captured again." Twilight didn't know what trouble
Cadence looks at the fillies. "Don't worry I'm a great foulsitter. One of the best so I been told."
Sweetie Belle looks at the ground. "Alright but can you guys promise us one thing."
Rarity raises Sweetie's chin with her hoof. "What would that be Sweetie my dear?"
She looked up at her sister with light green puppy dog eyes. "Please make sure Sarah is alright if you see her."
Scootaloo nods. "Yes please make sure, she helped us and we want her back in one piece."
Rainbow dash picks Scootaloo up. "We will make sure of it, don't worry your awesome little head Scootaloo."
Apple Bloom looked at her sister Applejack. "So you will make sure she comes back safely."
Applejack nodded. "We will do our best sugarcube, I promise." After that they all said their goodbyes and planed on getting both the hearts that they needed and if by chance they run into Spike they would tell him the truth about Sarah. If they ran into Sarah and they had her heart they would give it to her. If none of that happens then they would agree to meet in front of the castle gates in about an hour.
They all soon returned to the castle and went inside. Only Twilight knew where they needed to go so they let her lead the way. As they were walking throught the castle, they listened and watched closely to make sure they didn't see Sombra. Twilight soon arrived to the throne room. When they all got there and looked around they noticed Sombra was nowhere to be found, he left after he had chatted with Sarah unknown to anypony's knowledge. Twilight looked around seeing that it was black like when she used that one spell to find the secret door. She used her magic and made the secret passage appear and headed down the purple crystal colored stairs.
"Eep! that's alot of stairs..I might just stay here." Fluttershy said.
Rainbow dash looked at her. "Fluttershy it will be a breeze to get down there. You and me can do it in ten seconds flat, all we have to do is fly." She zoomed down the stairs.
"Whoa partner hold yer horses." Applejack said as Rainbow dash zoomed past her.
Fluttershy slowly went down all the stairs. Pinkie pie was right behind Rarity as they too went down the stairs. It took some time but they all were soon at the bottom of the stairs. Twilight stood in front of the door. She remembered when the door's spell once made her see her worst fear. It was Celestia saying she wasn't her student anymore and she failed.
Rainbow looked at the door and went to open it but it started to move around all over the place so she ended up chasing after it. "Come back here. "
"Rainbow stop and give me a second." Twilight did a spell and her horn glowed a mixture of purple and green. It stopped moving. "Ok, what ever you do don't open the door."
But it was too late and Pinkie pie had already bounced happily over to the door and soon everyone's eyes were glowing green. They were their greatest fear. Rarity was seeing a line of amazing fashion she made. It was great, their were ponies modeling down a fabulous catwalk with magnificence music playing in the background but then the most elegant of ponies in all of Equestria were saying how horrible her work was. She felt so disappointed in seeing this. "Why don't they like my fashions." After a minute she saw her friends chatting with another fasion designer pony saying how nice her clothes looked. "Don't they like me anymore..."
Pinkie pie saw her greatest fear as she was throwing the best party ever and in her room above Sugercube Corner and it was full of things like decorations, games like pin the tail on the pony, delicious treats and party music. "This is going to be the best." Pinkie pie had said. Time passed and passed and Pinkie hoped that the room would be full but with all the decorations, games and food, the room was empty. The only pony was Pinkie pie herself. She looked so sad, she wanted ponies to come to her party. Her hair went flat both in her fear and while she and the others were all sitting in front of the door.
Fluttershy was seeing herself in a field full of flowers and pretty blue sky. The birds were chirping and the other animals were having their own fun until a giant red dragon came breathing fire all over the place. Fluttershy was scared a first but knew her stare would work. She flew over and stood on the dragons snout. She gave him her menacing stare. "Ok mister you are going to leave right now, does your mother know what you are up to?" After she said that she thought the dragon would leave but it didn't. That was when she realized that her fear of dragons was back and that her stare couldn't help her this time.
Applejack looked at the door seeing herself back at home at Sweet Apple Acres. The trees were bare, there were no green leaves or jucie red apples. The barn was in shambles and there was a closed sign out in front. She saw her family packing up the wagon. "What is going on y'all." Granny smith looked at her. "Well we lost the farm since you left so now we are moving, isnt that right Big Mac." Big Mac nodded. "Eeyup." They finished packing up the wagon leaving Applejack all alone.
Rainbow dash sat in front of the door seeing herself flying in the sky going through the clouds but the sky darkened and suddenly her wings stopped working and she was falling. The Wonderbolts showed up. Spitfire looked at her. "You can't be one of us if your wings don't work. " Rainbow dash looked back at her. "I can still be..please.." They flew off leaving her still falling.
It took some time but Twilight shook all of them awake. She closed the door. Pinkie pie shook her hair to poof it up. "Is that really the only exit? I don't like what I saw."
Fluttershy nodded. "Yeah..neither did I."
Twilight nods. "Yes this is where we need to go. This door has a spell that can show your greatest fear."
"Well that would explain what I saw." Applejack said.
Rarity puts her hoof through her mane. "It was just dreadful what I saw."
"Don't worry. I just have to do this." Twilight said as she used her normal magic to open the door. When she opened it they were in a light blue crystal room with a giant stair case.
"Thats a whole lot of stairs." Pinkie pie said jumping up and down.
"It indeed is. " Rarity exclaimed.
They all started to climb up then or as in Rainbow dash and Fluttershy's case flying by them instead of climbing. After some minutes of climbing Rarity was complaing about how long this was taking. Then at that instant she remembered her gravity spell and decided to use it on them. Once she did the spell they all were sliding up to the top and when they got there the crystal heart was hovering in the air. Twilight looked at the ground seeing the circle. "Ok. everypony do not step there if you do then black crystals will surround us."
The group nodded and Twilight used her magic to move the crystal heart to them, handing it to Rainbow dash. Rarity looked around and saw a pretty well crafted box. She went over to get it. "Look everypony at this beautiful box."
"Could that be where Sarah's heart is?" Fluttershy asks.
Rairty drops it and Twilight catches it with her magic. "Well if it is, Im not touching it anymore."
Twilight scanned it with her magic. "Yep this is it. Lets head to the castle, give Sarah the heart, and use the spell to get rid of Sombra." She hands the box to Fluttershy then used her magic to levitate Rarity, Applejack, and Pinkie pie while the rest of them fly and they were soon at the castle gates once more.
When Spike went off to look for Sarah, he didn't know where to looks. Anger was clouding his thoughts and judgement. He was furious at the lies and the tricks. He didn't like how Sarah had betrayed him. When she first gave Twilight the spell that they thought would be able to get rid of the black crystal from Equestria, he thought that it was great and that his own sister in a way saved Equestria but when he saw that the spell wasn't what they though, he figured it was a mistake. Then came when she gave Sombra the crystal heart, that was when he felt his heart break. Spike trusted Sarah since they met. He felt so happy to finally have someone he could call family but now all her wanted to do was get revenge. He wanted to get revenge from when Sarah helped Sombra foulnap the Cutie Mark Crusaders, for when she didn't do anything when Sombra trapped them and most importantly he wanted to get revenge for her betraying his trust.
As he opened and closed many doors in the castle, he was getting no where. He had who he was looking for. The first door he opened lead him into an Armory. It was full of purple crystal kingdom armor and a few spears. Spike thought that maybe there would be something he could use in her in case he ran into Sombra on his hunt. He grabbed a spear. "I will save you Princess Rarity." Spike said as he started to day dream about saving Rarity.
Only Spike would start to day dream when he knew the other were searching for the CMC and while he was searching for Sarah. He shook his head to wake himself. "Ok Spike, get focused. " He took the small spear in his claw and headed out of the Armory and began his search once more. The next door he opened up lead to a empty guest room.
"Come on, Sarah should be around her somewhere." Spike said. He started to walk down the hallway and saw a fancy purple crystal door with some gold on it and a few rubies. He thought that if something had a fancy decorated door like this then surly some good must be behind it. He opened it up and saw that it was a treasure room full of deep blue colored sapphires, grass green emeralds, shiny gold bits, and other shiny things. Spike's stomach rumbles.
"I don't think Cadence or Shining Armor would mind if I snack on a gem or two. I am trying to save the Empire after all." Spike licked his lips and started to eat several gems. Soon he had a full belly. He patted his belly with his claw then brabs his spear.
"Now that I had this snack, I will have the energy to find Sarah and get my revenge." As he was walking he was suddenly thinking if he should really get revenge. Was it in his dragon code? Does he really have the heart to do it? Suddenly he imagines a miniature Fluttershy wearing an angel costume on his right shoulder and Rainbow dash dressed up a devil on the left.
The angel Fluttershy looked at him. "Don't do it Spike. It would be really mean if you do, you are not a cruel dragon."
The devil Rainbow dash smiled. "Don't listen to her. Think about it Sarah has helped Sombra all this time. She betrayed you and the others, she is a liar and that is all she will ever be. "
Spike thought about it for a minute. "You both are right. I am not cruel or mean. She did do all that stuff, she deserves to get her just deserts..." He was soon close to the throne room and saw Sarah's shadow. He could barely hear Sombra's voice but he couldn't tell what they were talking about. He hid behind a suit of armor as Sarah had came out. He quickly followed her with out her knowing. He was still on high alert in case Sombra was coming. Sarah had entered a room and closed the door behind her.
"That must be where she is. Give her the old one, two." said the devil Rainbow dash as she moved her hooves as she was pretending to punch/box.
The angel Fluttershy shook her head. "No don't do that unless you feel that is right."
Spike sighed. "What to do..what to do." He looked at the devil and pony versions of two of his pony friends. "May you please leave, I want to think in peace."
The angel Fluttershy nodded. "Ok..if thats what you think is right." She disappeared.
The devil Rainbow dash sighed. "What ever but you lost out on some awesome advice." She disappeared as well.
Spike thought for a few minutes and took a deep breath. He decided to go and give Sarah his two bits about everything. He knocked on the door.
When Sarah heard the knock, she put her papers from her journal down and said softly. "Who could that be? Sombra never knocks, he would use his magic and open the door by force with out warning." She thought that it might have been Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, or Sweetie Belle. She opened the door and saw Spike with a spear that he had gotten from the Armory in the castle.
"Spike...what are you doing here?" She said to him as he stepped inside.
Spike looked at her as he gripped the spear with his claw and spoke in an angry tone. "I have something to say to you."
Sarah frowned. "Spike, you don't understand.."
Before she could say anymore Spike interrupted her. "I understand plenty. You lied to me about being my family. I felt so happy to finally have somepony who cares about me besides Twilight and the gang. You used us to bring Sombra back from the shadows, foulnapped the Cutie Mark Crusaders, gave the crystal heart to Sombra, of all the ponies big or small to give it to, you gave it to Sombra..."
Sarah looked at the ground. "I had no choice. I'm sorry.."
He glared at her and pointed the spear towards her body. "Your sorry? Thats all you have to say? You had a choice not to do it. We all have choices to make things happen."
She took a deep breath and looked at him with tears in her eyes. "Sombra has something of mine. He has my heart, his magic flows through me just to keep me here. He was the one who hatched me. I never wanted to help him, I always figured he would give me back my heart if I did but now I know thats a lie. I truly did enjoy the time we shared flying kites and partying with you friends. I doubt I will ever really know who my own parents were or if I do have my own sibling but that's fine because you and the others have really shown me what friendship is. "
When Spike looked at her straight in the eyes he could now see she was speaking the truth. "You really mean that." He lowers the spear and the sound of clapping hooves could be heard.
Sarah gasped. "Master....." She sounded scared since it was none other that Sombra standing in the door way.
Spike turned and held up the spear to him. "You! Sombra you monster, Sarah told me what you done to her. Give her back her heart."
Sarah was shocked at what she was. Spike was defending her after all she had done. Maybe he actually forgives her.
Sombra smiled as he walked in. "I will not give back her heart just like I won't let you do anything at all. For you all are pawns in my giant game of chess, free for me to sacrifice at my disposal. " His horned glowed and aimed at Spike ready to shoot. His magic shot like a beam and went straight to Spike, he braced for the hit but it didn't hit him. Sarah jumped in front of him and took it in his place. She fell to the ground.
Sombra laughed. "I guess your death is sooner than I wanted. I personally wanted to squeeze you heart to dust and watch you die like that but this will do. Your time as my pawn has come to an end."
Spike held Sarah up. She was badly injured from the blast of magic. "You took the blast for me? Why?
Sarah smiled and cringed in pain. "Cause you don't deserve to die.."
A tear fell from both the dragons eyes. Spike wiped away his tear. "Don't say that. I wont have you die. Stay with me ok? I'm sure Twilight will be here soon and she can use her magic to heal you."
Sombra chuckled. "How touching. Enjoy your final moments my pawn. Even with out your heart, you will be out of this world in a matter of minutes. "
Sarah closed her eyes trying to ignore the pain she was in, another tear fell from her eyes. She felt like justice was being served now and karma was getting her back. The black crystal on her necklace glowed dimly but not enough for anypony to notice.
Twilight and the others have waited about an hour for Shining Armor, Cadence and the Cutie Mark Crusaders to arrive. They all wondered if Spike had found Sarah or if King Sombra had found him first, little did they know that just a minute earlier in Sarah's room she had just taken a magical blast from Sombra's horn that was meant to kill Spike. When their friends did arrive the fillies ran up to them asking questions.
"Did you find it?" Apple Bloom asked. She really hoped that they found the heart so they could help Sarah.
"Is everypony alright." Sweetie Belle asked her sister.
"Tell us." Scootaloo said.
The group looked at each other and Fluttershy nodded as she held the box with the heart. "Yes, I have it." The Cutie Mark Crusaders smiled. They all seemed to so happy.
Rarity smiled at her little sister. "Yes Sweetie we are all alright. I hope you were good for Cadence and Shining Armor."
Cadence nodded. "They were angels. They were all glad that they could help you guys now."
Pinkie Pie smiled. "Yeah now we can finish this."
Twilight handed the Crystal heart to Cadence and she put it back where it went. They all knew that the magical power of the heart will not work unless the crystal ponies were happy. Shining Armor cleared his throat before he spoke. "We can't wait to make the crystal ponies happy. We must first stop Sombra and help our dragon friends. "
Rainbow dash nodded. "Yeah lets go." She went to fly straight into the castle but Applejack stopped her.
"Whoa there partner, don't go flying your tail in there all alone." Applejack told Rainbow dash.
Sweetie Belle smiled. "Yeah we are all going as a team."
The three fillies looked at each other and spoke. "Cutie Mark Crusades dragon savers."
Twilight looked at the fillies. She knew if she told them that they couldn't come with them then they would be really upset since they just wanted to help their friend who made sure they were taken care of when they were imprisoned. "It is going to be dangerous girls. I know that you want to help but we don't want you to get hurt. "
"We are going to help." Apple Bloom said stomping her hoof to the ground.
"Yeah danger is my middle name just RD." Scootaloo said.
Sweetie takes the pink cloak that was once Sarah's. "We are going and you can't stop us."
"Please girls think about this." Fluttershy said.
"We thought about it and we want to help. All for one and one for all. Right Cutie Mark Crusaders." Scootaloo said.
"Right!" Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom replied.
Shining Armor looked at Twilight. "Twilight, they can come but let them stay behind us."
Cadence nodded. "Yes, that sounds right. Now we must hurry and use the spell to get rid of Sombra once and for all."
Everypony nodded and headed into the castle. They all hope they would find Sombra and get their in time before anypony gets hurt or does anything they would regret. Twilight lead the group as they ran though the castle, she used her magic to find Sombra saw he was in a room. It only took a few minutes but they got their and saw Spike holding an injured Sarah. Sombra stood close by the door.
"Sarah!!!" The Cutie Mark Crusaders said together.
"Is she okay? Sombra what did you do to her" Cadence asked worried.
Sombra chuckled. "I did nothing to hurt her on purpose. She jumped into my magic beam that was meant for the other dragon."
Spike nodded and a tear fell from his eye. "Its true, Twilight, shes hurt can you help her.."
Pinkie Pie jumped up and down. "Yes she can. We have her heart. Oh and this is for you Sombra." She threw a pie at him and it hit his face.
Twilight nodded. "Yes Spike I can but first we must use the spell to get rid of Sombra."
Sarah opened her eyes slowly. "Twilight..you wont be able to help me. I know the spell of which you speak of. It is called the heavenly light spell am I right?"
Shining Armor nodded. "Yes it is."
She nodded slowly at Shining Armor's response. "The spell will get rid of all the things he used his magic on including me.."
Spike looked at Twilight. "Then we can't do that."
Sombra chuckled as he wiped the pie that Pinkie threw at him off his face. "You can't get rid of me with out getting rid of the one who betrayed you but I can still get everypony here with out regret." His horn glowed and shot at them but Cadence created a shield to protect them.
Rarity looked at Twilight. "You go give Sarah her heart and try to help her. We will take care of this ruffian. "
Twilight nodded and at that moment all of the group except for Twilight and the CMC who wanted to check on Sarah, attacked Sombra. He used his magic and covered the floor with crystal. Rainbow dash flew around him to distract him while Pinkie pie brought out her party cannon.
Twilight and the CMC got by Spike and Sarah. They all looked concerned. "Sarah how do I give you back your heart?" Twilight asked.
Sarah's crystal on her necklace was still glowing dimly. "I..don't know..Sombra just used his magic and took it...ah..sorry it still hurts where he hit me..."
Twilight nodded and she used her magic and the heart in the box disappeared and was back where it belonged.
Spike up his head on Sarah's chest hearing the heart beat slowly. "Its slow but there."
"Stay with us Sarah." Apple Bloom said.
Sarah nodded and smiled as she felt her heart beat. It felt so nice to finally have it back. "I know its there I can feel it, Twilight please do the heavenly light spell please. Defeat him for me."
"But if I do that then you will..." Twilight said as a tear ran down her face.
She smiled and winced in pain. "I know..just do it."
Twilight looked at Cadence who was making a shield around the others as they all did their hardest to fight. "Cadence we must do the spell now."
Cadence nodded and they took out the spell. They stood side by side and spoke the spell aloud. "With magic all around in times of good and bad. The darkness comes and makes things sad. We speak the spell to show a great and wonderful sight, we say this spell heavens light. Away from the darkness in evil's soul we call. We are here to save before this empire fall." The light their horns glowed and covered up Sombra and he turned back into shadows. All over Equestria the black crystal pillars that Sombra's magic had caused disappeared and the feeling of despair was also gone. Outside the crystal heart glowed and spread its light all over.
Everypony went over to the Cutie Mark Crusaders, Spike and Sarah. When the two alicorns did their spell it made the purple and pink scales Sarah had to turn back to the original white color to which were first like when she was hatched. Her heart beat was very slower now and a tear fell from everypony's eyes.
Pinkie's hair went flat. She sniffled. "We are going to miss you Sarah."
Twilight looked at Sarah. "Are you sure theres nothing I can do?"
Sarah nodded. "Yes I'm sure. Im glad to see that your all are alright. This feels like it is all my fault."
Sweetie Belle shook her head and put the pink cloak on Sarah. "Its not."
Spike smiled slightly as he held Sarah. "I wish we could have met sooner.."
Sarah smiled, her necklace glowing a little brighter. "Me too..oh Spike please remember this, you are baby dragon just like me, our beginnings that we had may have been different like paths we took and walked up to today, you were hatched by somepony during an exam and I was hatched by evil out in the cold but we both are still dragons none the less so even if are different we are both still family. " A tear fell from her eyes as she closed them. "Goodbye brother.." Her heart soon stopped and white light covered her body and it made her disappear leaving only her pink cloak and her black crystal necklace but the black crystal had turned white and it soon stopped its glow.
Spike looked at the necklace. "Goodbye sister, I love you." He went over to Twilight and cried on her shoulder.
Soon everypony was crying at the lost of their friend. They all wished that it wouldn't have ended like that. After an hour Princess Celestia and Luna had arrived and saw that all the sad ponies and baby dragon were still sitting in bedroom where Sarah had left in. Twilight explained what happened in full detail from beginning to end and Celestia nodded. She looked at Spike and knelt down to him. "May I see that necklace."
Spike wiped away a tear and handed it to her slowly.
Celestia took the necklace and scanned it with her magic. "This necklace wasn't always white am I right?"
Apple Bloom nodded. "Yes. It was black, why is it white now?"
The Princess of the sun smiled. "Your friend..Sarah? Is that correct? Had purify the dark magic in this crystal with her own."
"Dragons have magic?" Fluttershy said in response to what Celestia had said.
Celestia nodded. "Yes they do. All creature big or small have a certain magic inside them. It might not be like the magic that unicorns or alicorns use but there is a magic in everypony. Your friends magic was full of good so she was able to purify the crystal. "
Spike eyes widen in surprise. "Really? My sister did that?"
Twilight smiled. "Wow.."
Princess Luna went over to the scrolls that Sarah had written on for her journals. "What are these?"
Rarity shrugged. "I don't know, they were there when we arrived."
Cadence walked over and looked at them with Luna. "They appear to be journal entries." Luna looked at one of them and passed it to her sister.
"This is one ye might want to see dear sister." Luna said.
Celestia nodded as she took the journal entry. She read it over as she gave Spike back the necklace. When she finished she looked at everypony. "Your friend seemed to have dreams about a place I have heard about and that since her body isn't here, it makes me believe that she went back to this place as if by magic."
"Where?" Rainbow dash said.
Celestia look a deep breath. "It is a place where dragons go when they die but some say that they are their before they are hatched. Legends have stated that the entrance to this place is somewhere in the frozen north passed the Crystal Empire and it is also stated that you can try to bring them back if you pass all the challenges and risks."
Spike stood up. "I want to go. I want to get back my sister. I don't care about the challenges and I'll face the risks if I need to. Please tell me where to go."
Applejack put a hoof on his should. "Your not going alone. We all will help you."
Rainbow dash nodded. "Yeah we will stick to you like glue and help you Spike."
He smiled. "Thank you, you ponies are the best."
Twilight smiled. "Then its settled, we will find her. Cadence may you either watch Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo till we get back or make sure they get back to Ponyville."
Shining Armor nodded. "We will make sure they are well watched, don't worry Twi."
The fillies sighed. They wanted to go but they understood. They just hoped that they could get Sarah back.
Luna walked over to her sister. She looked at the group. "Thy journey will be hard we wish ye luck."
Spike nodded. "We will need it. " He folded up Sarah's cloak and put on the now white crystal necklace. When he put it on, he felt as if Sarah was right next to him.
"Yeah we will." Pinkie pie said her hair had just poofed back up.
Cadence smiled. "You all should get some sleep. We will get everything ready in the morning and you can start your quest."
Celestia nodded. "Yes get some rest my little ponies. It is now late and you all have had a very hard day. The next few might be harder. "
They all nodded and went to the other spare bedrooms in the castle. Even the Princesses stayed so that in the morning they could give more info to them before they go off on their journey. Only Spike and Twilight stayed in Sarah's bedroom. Twilight looked at her baby dragon friend. "We will get her back. She is family after all."
Spike nodded and clutched the crystal in his claw. "Yes family. She is my sister and I will do anything to get her back." Twilight put out the light and everypony in the castle was asleep.
