Cozy Mark IV

Sequels1

T

Just as a lonely man once found a filly Rainbow Dash, so did a tiny Scootaloo turn up in the backyard of a loving couple with no children of their own. Years later, Prof. T. Sparkle, Ph.D, writes the official biography of one particular Earth's first Pony citizen, with instructions to 'talk to anyone you need to and don't censor anything.' Rated T and now 20% cooler.

WAIT.......

wasnt she adopted by an straight couple in the first chapter

Nice chapter, can't wait to see how else she changes tech indirectly.
It may be just me but the entire chapter is in bold.

Hmm...I don't know why this is getting some rather mixed reviews. I'll have to give this a read later on and judge it for myself. I'll be looking forward to reading your story.

2280968 That's pretty fucking mean of you to say. The writer obviously tried hard to make this. Dislikes are an inevitability but I'm sure you can tone down your hate in the comments. If you didn't like it don't say anything in the comments unless you can provide some real constructive criticism. I mean the writer did 70,000 words, which I am sure was a trial to complete.

Now a question... What the fuck is your problem? :flutterrage:

Wow... 18,000 words. I need to hurry up reading this so I can get to that quicker. :pinkiehappy:

This is good - I finished up to Ch. 10 on my kindle this morning, and was about to favorite it when I noticed there was a new chapter. I love it when that happens.

I think it's better than My Little Dashie, although I do like the reference to it in the video footage. It seems a little surprising, however, that the cartoon hasn't made a bigger appearance in the story. It's mentioned a couple times, and clearly Scootaloo knows she's a cartoon character, albeit a different one from the show, but her dealing with that seems like it would be a bigger part of her life and character development.

Chukker,

Thanks for the favorite : ) You make a good point about the cartoon: They know that the shows producers are getting dreams about Equestria, and using them to write the show, but no one knows how or why this is happening, or for that matter, how accurate the resulting portrayal is.
As to Scoot? She knows the above, but without anything more than dreams, there's not much she can do to interact with anyone, and there isn't much she can learn. By this point she has grown into a character very different from the one in the show, and her attitude towards the show is one of mild irritation because of the weird misconceptions people get from it.

Wow, I don't want to jinx it, but this is an impressive update schedule.

The vignette nature of the story is interesting. Personally, I found the discussion of religion in the previous chapter well done, and was looking forward to more of that. I like that you've continued it a bit in this chapter, but was looking forward to Scootaloo's reaction to church and more on her opinions of religion, and not just the other characters. I realize you do get her views a little in her responses to Conner's parents, but I'd kind of like to see a more positive/constructive viewpoint.

That makes sense about the show, but I'd say you should work a little more of that into the story - have someone mention the show to her a couple times so she can respond to it. It does make sense that she's a different character, however. And there is the scene where she gets fitted for a saddle for a kid's birthday party, and when she claims that the easiest way to explain things is that "she's a cartoon pony" - that means she's at least somewhat willing to accept her status as a cartoon character.

And I must ask - does she have a cutie mark? I think it was mentioned, but I may of glossed over that. It doesn't seem to come up, so maybe it's just not a big deal to her living in the human world.

A few other random comments from previous chapters I noticed. It's "guy wires," not "guide wires" that are used to support an antenna. And there is no way a law enforcement office would carry a blank and/or fire a warning shot. A taser instead of a gun - sure, but not a warning shot and a taser. Scootaloo's attitude towards guns is fine, but that's not something an officer/agent/spy/whatever Agent Tyler is would do.

Also, I could do with a little reminding about the relative speed of the different timelines in My Little Dashie's Earth and Equestria. That would help the story stand on it's own a bit more, separate from My Little Dashie, which it does a very good job of already.

I'm glad there's an Equestria scene too. Writing sequels to My Little Dashie and explaining what happened after that story is difficult, but the multiple personalities is a clever idea. I think it's one of the better ones I've seen, if not the best, since it leaves hope for everyone to be happy, but also has real conflict. I mean, I don't like sad/dark/tragedy MLP stories, so I want Dash's dad to end up in Equestria and everyone to live happily ever after, but you need a bit more conflict than that to make it a good story.

I like the Monty Python reference at the end... :rainbowlaugh:

So... Scootaloo in a human world, raised by a two dad family... Well it has my interest so I'll read some more. This is probably one of the few human stories I will take seriously. :derpytongue2:

This is High Templar Coranth requesting an Inquisitor of the Imperium of Mankind to perform an Exterminatus upon the abhuman filth formerly known as Pastor Gray.

Repeat: This is High Templar Coranth requesting an Inquisitor of the Imperium of Mankind to perform an Exterminatus upon the abhuman filth formerly known as Pastor Gray.

Awaiting response...

:twilightangry2: :flutterrage: :pinkiesad2:

Scoot should totally buck (kick) that traitorous...

...

.......

...........

TWI SMASH!!! :twilightangry2:

... but I can understand why it went down that way, I guess.

I wonder who is in that fanfiction Mel was talking about.....
Keep up the great work! :3

Loving the Doctor Who references:pinkiesmile: Also this story is awesome and I actually consider it better than my little dashie as it is considerably longer more detailed and generally filled with more awesomeness than dashie's story. I literally stayed up till five in the morning reading this just because I didn't want to wait till I woke up to keep reading. :rainbowkiss: Keep up the great work I can't wait for the next update :yay: (Also I have totally thought of Josie as being like Pinkie this whole time and that bit during the protest where she got all depressed made me think she went into Pinkimeana mode :pinkiecrazy:)

2800415 I got hate on doing the right thing. Logic of theirs is not sound. I stand by on what I said.:ajbemused:

By the way. Nice chapter! :pinkiehappy:

Jayne is one of the Dad's middle names, but he prefers to go by it. Don't know why, but can you fault the guy?

Do you leave a life lesson in the authors note at the end of every chapter? That's cool.

2797733

I completely agree with you.
And I think his problem is he has no 'open mind', per say.

I've only read to Chapter 10, but so far I give you:

5/5 Pinkie's - :pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy::pinkiehappy:
10/10 Dashie's - :rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2::rainbowdetermined2:
And 5/5 Scoot's - :scootangel::scootangel::scootangel::scootangel::scootangel:

:rainbowdetermined2: I'm in. And Equinoxian ponies do anything I say with the right Rift behind Thundering words.

Hehe. Name puns.

No! FOCUS! :twilightangry2:

Microsoft does make a rather fine flight simulator. I was the only one who dicked around with it at school that could get off the ground and land safely though. :rainbowdetermined2:

I haven't read the story yet, I'm just wondering why every single comment except the two newest ones all have 1-4 downvotes.

Why all the down votes?

The story was picked up by a group of... trolls, for lack of a better word. I'm an average author, and there are plenty of errors to complain about, but the down votes are mainly political.

As an example, when Scoot makes it to her teenage years, her parents give her access to basic sex ed information to help her stay safe. Some people who subscribe to 'abstinence only' have a real problem with that.

The reality is that I live in a county which uses 'abstinence only' sex ed, and our teen pregnancy rate is > 50%.

DF

This is good. The event where they receive Scoots is glossed over a bit compared to the detail spent on the rest of this chapter, but overall it's good.

DF

Well, this is a good story, not great, but still good. Your other story, The Frozen West, has much more punch to it. In any case, you've earned a like, a favorite and a follower.

WHAT!? SPOILERS WHERE!? I must have them! :pinkiecrazy:

Well this story was obviously troll voted. Imma give it a chance just because of that. Unless is trick... but trick that is shown to be trick, is it still trick? Or is trick trick in first place? Imma stop this now and download the story.

"Ac'fuwwy," Melissa explained, enjoying a cinnamon pretzel, "it'ff the Maffhew Effect again. The riff get riffer, becauff even when *gulp* the poor get paid better and have more social infrastructure, like roads and schools and an army and police and shit, poor people still spend the majority of their income. It's only once you reach 'comfortable' when you really start to save or invest the stuff. And when poor people spend money, guess who they give the money to in exchange for *bite* goodff and serviffefs?"

Just two things wrong with this paragraph...never, never, NEVER use *word* when describing an action while speaking (it's tacky). Instead, try this:

"Ac'fuwwy," Melissa explained, enjoying a cinnamon pretzel, "it'ff the Maffhew Effect again. The riff get riffer, becauff even when" - she swallowed her bite - "the poor get paid better and have more social infrastructure, like roads and schools and an army and police and shit, poor people still spend the majority of their income. It's only once you reach 'comfortable' when you really start to save or invest the stuff. And when poor people spend money, guess who they give the money to in exchange for" - she took another bite - "goodff and serviffefs?"

Hope that's helpful!

wow that was wow so very deep i loved it! this was amazing im not going to denial it just a fact to me thank you for writing this thank you thank you!:heart::heart:

Is Unaversalist like a real thing because it sounds kinda similar to sort of thing I believe in. Where basically everyone is right because god loves everyone, and since heaven is paradise you get to live in your own personal paradise and stuff. Also based on what we've just found out about Josie I'm starting to think of her kind of like a Sweetie Bell. If this is what you were going for you have done very well with it  Please continue as I very much like this story:heart::scootangel:

It's absolutely real. If you want to find a church exactly like Josie's near you, you can find one at UUA.org. (That's for the USA; but Google can direct one to Unitarian Universalist churches and chapels all over the world.)

The one shown in the story is a composite of four churches my wife and I have attended over the years, hopefully with enough details mixed together to give an approximate idea of the average medium-sized-city's Universalist chapel. I didn't find my faith until I was an adult, so the description of Sunday School was largely my wife's job (she actually did teach the third-graders, just as Josie does in the story, though they didn't manage quite so many cat-scratchers as the class in the story did, were also noted for baking dog biscuits for the shelter animals and apparently Jan's class didn't start fires,) plus the architectural layout has been purposely blended from all four sources.

But yes, this is absolutely a real religion and is pretty much as-described. Your mileage may vary, congregation-to-congregation; Pastor Josh's extreme pantheism and dedication to serving his community in every way possible is based in particular on a pastor based near our college campus, and while some UU churches aren't as big or 'full-service' as the one shown (not all of them have space for a food bank or someone there 24 hours a day, though many do,) they are all generally that inclusive, that nice and that welcoming.

...And they thought I was an atheist? Still can't figure that assumption out...

DF

3072598 Well, I'm almost done getting up-to-date on this story. Starts off a bit wobbly, but it picks up speed and improves a lot.

DF

Well, I don't have much to say. This story has improved by a very large degree and continues to do so. This latest chapter is no exception.

the footnotes have been doubled:pinkiehappy:.

One note about bullying. It's not always peers that bully kids. Adults can be bullies to kids too. I had teachers that were very abusive to me at times, calling me names, hitting me, threatening to cut my hand off, etc. People tend to think of bullying as being child versus child, but it can also be adult versus child, which is even worse. Especially bad is when child vs. child bullying is going on, and the child tries to get help from an adult, and the adult treats the bullied child as if they are a troublemaker/problem/the weird one, rather than helping to stop the mean/dangerous behavior.

Good lord! I can only hope it got better for you...:fluttershyouch:
You may want to skip ahead to Chapter 14 - 'Family Values'.

Young earth creationists are the ones that don't have any basis in science. Science can't confirm whether or not God exists. Saying "Creationists" as an umbrella term also excludes OECs and TEs. I accept evolution but I still believe that God guided the process.

Just because some people can't use guns responsibly doesn't mean the rest of us lose our gun rights. An important rule of gun safety is to always know what you're pointing your gun at before you fire. Most gun owners wouldn't just randomly shoot into the dark like an idiot.

This story seems to be mostly a political diatribe rather than a pony fanfic so far

Finally pony again. I was starting to wonder if this was the progressivist manifesto or a fimfiction. This chapter is actually pretty good. I like the idea of the split personality for Rainbow and it also makes the prospect of retreiving Scootaloo that much more complicated.

They don't need an abortion, and if a vaginal birth would be really bad for her then she can have a C section. There is hardly ever a need for an abortion, only in cases like ectopic pregnancies or other instances where the mother's life is in danger.

I really could never see the kind and loving ponies of Equestria murdering their own foals in the womb, dragging out pieces of a little foal that had been cut up with instruments, suctioning them out, or burning them and making their skin fall off with saline solution, etc. In this situation, the deacon is the one that should be punished, that's it. The parents of the special needs child should help the mother decide whether to adopt out the child or to care for the child with her parent's help. Killing a baby that doesn't pose a risk to the mother's life is completely unjustified.
