walk-in closet brony

I'm a closet brony... I mean, if thats ok.

It has now been a decade since the first and only Human/Pony war has ended and both countries, The United States of America and Equestria, are writhing in the destruction it has caused. Many civilians on both sides resented the war and all who fought in it, many of the valiant warriors having stories left untold to the public ear.

Now, CNN plans to venture forth throughout both worlds seeking out the battle-hardened veterans to get the true story behind the inter-species war of 2016.

*In a way, I'd like this fic to mirror the Vietnam war veterans who gave their lives for a cause that their own country did not support.*

And so it begins! :pinkiehappy:

I also want to take this time to apologize for doing absolutely nothing for the past month. This story was floating in the back of my mind for a while and I figured, "Why the fuck not." :pinkiecrazy:

Also. remember my story Camaraderie? In the beginning, Camaraderie was either going to be about the army fighting against the ponies or with them against a common enemy. That juggled around in my mind for a while before I chose the latter. This fic is kinda like what would've happened if we went to war with the ponies.

Oh well, Like, comment, and enjoy! Any of the three make me a happy writer!

Haven't read yet, but the description says human-pony war, yet it also implies that only America fought, so did they start the war or is the story focused on american war veterans

2359266-It's gonna flash between both Pony and Human veterans
2359562-Whaddya mean?

2360039 ok, that only partially answered my question and that is my fault because I worded it badly.

What I meant to say is which human factions (I.e. England, America, Russia) fought in the war

2362194-Only America, but we'll get into that later. It's all a matter of resource warfare.

I really don't understand why this is being rated so badly.... I think it's really interesting. I hope you come out of your hidy hole soon.

2381289-
I know. It's odd that even though I've posted only one chapter on this thing, everyone thinks it's terrible. I mean, it was only like one thousand words worth of story. Well, it must have been bad enough for eleven people to hit the dislike button. Oh well, I'm not scorning them for it, I'm just wondering how such a little bit of introduction was so unbelievably terrible. Thanks for the positive feedback anyway!

Chapter 1 is up! WARNING! If you don't want to listen to me whining, don't read the next paragraph.

I hope people don't down vote this as much as they did the last chapter. In a way, I see some unfairness in the ratings this story received when I posted it. It was only one chapter with like, a thousand words in it. It also bugged me that the people that down voted didn't even leave in the comments why they did it so that I may have a chance to improve. I mean, it's not the best story ever written but it's certainly not the worst. I guess I just posted it at the wrong time with the wrong viewers. I've heard of the people who down vote just because they see a certain topic and say, "THAT MUST BE THE WORST STORY EVER!!!!1". Sorry about my incessant whining, but I feel a little cheated. Now I'm afraid most people will just look over my story now because of the amount of dislikes compared to likes. But then it got me thinking, what if all the people who Favorited my story also took the time to click that little thumbs up button. THAT is the thing that makes my day. when I see one more tick on the like bar. Please don't take this the wrong way though, I simply feel elated when people favorite my stories. Thank you all for reading. Like, comment, and enjoy the chapter. :twilightsheepish:

Wait, why did the war begin in the first place? And surely the US Army must have been smart enough to send more than just infantry.

2422048-All in due time my friend. The infantry was an expeditionary force, there will be armor later. I'm going to slowly tell the story of how this all unfolded through further interviews.

2422323 What about air force?

2422351-Y'know what? I think I may actually have the U.S. send in some Apache helicopters. Perhaps maybe some more advanced aircraft too.

2422500 Well, it just confuses me. Is there a limitation to the warp? If I were the SECDEF of that universe, I'd be trying to send as much as I can over there. Jets, bombers, tanks, mabye even destroyers.

You write war stories and battle scenes so well... They cheated.

2438966 Seriously though, you're war stories are the best I've read on the site. When I look at other stories, it's just "yadda yadda shot yadda yadda explosion yadda", but the way you write it makes me feel in a sense the way the soldiers feel and lets me connect to it more.

2441755-Wow. :pinkiesad2:

I seriously need more messages like that. God bless you sir.

I've come out of hibernation!:yay:

However, it's 5:33 in the morning so I'm going the fuck to sleep.

War sucks, full stop. You captured that atmosphere.

Anyways, can we see interviews from the Equestrinian troops?

"All the weapons in the world couldn't prepare us for the disaster that was the first battle of Ponyville. Can you imagine it yourself? The superiority of the United States' army swatted like a fly by a bunch of technicolor ponies?"

When I got to this part, I nearly stopped reading.
When i got to the part where the princesses were blocking fucking bullets and routed THE FUCKING US MILITARY, i stopped reading. Enjoy your dislike. And please actually reply to this comment instead of deleting It and then hiding like every single other author who enjoys making the ponies OP.

Seriously, the lance stabbed through the armor of a FUCKING APC?

4586517 -Well, at least you actually said why you disliked unlike the thousands of nameless people that swoop in, dislike the story, and not say a fucking word about it. Now, I'm glad you said why you disliked it, but I don't agree with clicking a button that openly displays someones negativity about a story which ultimately affects another persons choice to decide to read it. Also, I don't think I'll "enjoy" the dislike.:ajbemused:

4586525 well the Bradly's armor is light because it is supposed to provide supresive fire and not engage in direct combat

4586691

Light does not = sheet metal

A fucking medieval lance can not (Read, not SHOULD not, but CAN NOT EVER) penetrate that kind of armor. :V

4587564 It appears we are like minded.

I appreciate the fact that you're trying to even up the fight for the equestrians sake, however spears can NOT punch through tank armour ( even if it is a APC ). The only weapon I really see the ponies using against our machines effectively is magic, so maybe use that instead. regardless I am still giving this story a like and a favorite. I am intrigued.

4588987 -Well, the Equestrians put two and two together and decided that raw iron isn't going to punch through steel, but they did enchant their weaponry with auras suitable for penetrating armor. (Because magic, that's why) Thanks for the critique! :ajsmug:

4587564 actually it is possible because the Pegasus has help from gravity and from how high the author said they were flying a metal tipped lance could easily pierce the topside of Bradley armor

The three of us look up and smile as Bill Powers, former U.S. army infantry man

Infantryman is one word. But I'm starting to like this.

4681429 -Infantryman is one word and I've been doing it wrong the whole time?

With the rest of the first infantry division

Should be First Infantry Division

Spoke sergeant Hayworthy as he picked up an entrenching tool and started reinforcing the left side of the dugout.

Capitalize Sergeant

"Y-yes sir. Of course." Said Powers, returning dutifully to his work.

You don't call NCOs sir in the Army. Only officers

You should really do some REAL research before representing military tactics in a fic. The Americans in this fic are extremely stupid. Just look at the 2003 Invasion of Iraq...

The invasion was preceded by an air strike on the Presidential Palace in Baghdad on 19 March 2003. The following day, coalition forces launched an incursion into Basra Province from their massing point close to the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border. While the special forces launched an amphibious assault from the Persian Gulf to secure Basra and the surrounding petroleum fields, the main invasion army moved into southern Iraq, occupying the region and engaging in the Battle of Nasiriyah on 23 March. Massive air strikes across the country and against Iraqi command and control threw the defending army into chaos and prevented an effective resistance. On 26 March, the 173rd Airborne Brigade was airdropped near the northern city of Kirkuk, where they joined forces with Kurdish rebels and fought several actions against the Iraqi army to secure the northern part of the country.

All major military combat operations were officially ended on may 1st. An invasion of Equestria would be like this. Utterly massive air-power being send through the portal to cut off the head of the snake and to destroy industrial capacity and CnC. Massive Shock and Awe attacks would be initiated as soon as they got through the portal. I'm talking complete and total air superiority by Helicopters, Aircraft and Drones. This would shield the ground forces, consiting of fast-moving APC's, tanks and infantry, including portable artillery pieces. The entire "war" would be over before a medieval army could even organize or gather their armor.

An invasion of Equestria would not go down even close to this. The US Army specializes in Rapid Dominance Doctrine. They go on the offensive as soon as they can.

The Idea behind this fic was very interesting, but in the future I think you have to research a lot more.

P.S. Never, ever, EVER just say "It's Magic." Even magic has a thought behind it. It doesn't just happen. Magic isn't that different from Technology. It has fundamental principles that have to be followed, and this is supported time and time again in the series. Simply saying "It's magic" makes the whole thing simply boring, and it ruins immersion.

The ponies are a little too overpowered right now (Especially a lance stabbing through an APC).

Though, I've had a thought for a plot point. So far, we know that equestrian's have a habit of turning their enemies to stone. So, what if they did that to our POW's?

Why gi to war with each other?

Is this an alternate universe from comraderie?

Vietnam war veterans were unknowingly sprayed with chemicals in the jungles and veterans like my grandpa actually gave it to their kids. The chemical is called agent orange and actually if you look up agent orange itself it actually gave veterans and their kids disabilities and like my grandpa who actually had to get his toes removed gave it to my dad and his siblings. My uncle who is my dad’s brother died from cancer and he had a latter and some scammers took it and I don’t know where it’s at. My dad’s sister had a heart infront of my cousin Megan and died! My dad’s sister had heart problems and lived until when she died infront of Megan. My dad’s lucky and he is losing sight on both eyes and the kids including me and Connor have eye problems but for Connor it was bad to the point where he had to get laser eye surgery (I think Connor did but I remember my mom mentioning that.) For me I’m wearing glasses and I have autism.

But I have issues with tippy toe walking and what’s worse is I got the flu shot and I got the flu and I actually got acute mitosis and my already fucked up legs are now worse and I had to get surgery on one leg and wait for the other one but I had the surgery done and it was worth it. I didn’t know what was wrong because after getting the flu again and getting better. I was walking like a drunk and was falling down randomly and I thought it was funny until basically i couldn’t walk one day. That day I was walking like a person who just drank a lot of alcohol. I was at puppy class with daisy and we didn’t have Junior yet until the first day of boarding game club. But I don’t think anyone asked me if I have something wrong with my legs. But however when I look back on it I’m probably am asking agent orange if it gave me immunity apparently.

When Covid started, I think I already got coronavirus before lockdown and I didn’t know. But I can’t get it now which is weird and I’m hearing that the vaccine is killing people and I don’t know why it has not been tested further for issues like this.

But I don’t want to get COVID from a fucking vaccine and yet I’m somehow immune and when we had to stop taking the flu shot. I did not get the flu at all after what happened to my legs. Hell I actually didn’t want to get the flu repeatedly! My parents aren’t anti vaxxers but I actually had side effects from the flu shot that includes getting the flu repeatedly.
