Regarding most celebrity stallions being earth ponies: why?
Geology has never been my strong point, but "fireheart sunset diamond, moonlit opal, and pure diamond mixed into one" sounds like a conglomerate rather than a gem. And if you mix diamond with something, it's no longer pure diamond.
