Amusing read. It was very well done in that you kept the focus on the toast rather than Twilight.
As a creative suggestion, you could start a Slice of Life series about each of the MLP:FiM characters and their particular breakfast favourites and its meaning to them (e.g.: Rarity & bagels, Spike & omelettes, AppleJack & flapjacks, Rainbow Dash & hash browns, Princess Celestia & belgian waffles, etc.).
Damn, now I am hungry for something breakfast-y at 0100...

Anyway, excellent work. 
I've been meaning to read this for a while, and just haven't found the time till now.
It was great. I saw no real flaws, other than a lack of conflict, but that's okay considering it's a slice-of-toast... err... Slice-of-life story. That's the beauty of slice-of-life. You really don't need a conflict to make a great story. I very much enjoyed this story, and I'll be stalking you to see what more you come up with. Oh. And have a moustache for the great story.

Your comment made me realize that I should come up with more stuff... I've had ideas for other potential chapters of this story detailing the morning routines of various other ponies, but to think up something that's NOT breakfast related? I'm not sure if I have the grist. I'll try my very hardest, though! 'Preciate the the feedback, as well as the powerful insight as to the true nature of slice of life stories and their mysterious, non-conflicted ways. I accept the moustache with gusto! If I had a magnificent beard, I would gladly bestow it unto you.

I'm thinking Pinkie. I was actually going to do the toast chapter using her, as the blandness and under-bearing nature of toast would be in stark contrast to the desserts she usually eats. I ended up picking Twilight because I wasn't sure if I could really do Pinkie justice in a story where the characters are so introspective. I could have picked a different snack that better matched Pinkie's personality, but I'm Toastman, and not writing about toast just isn't my style. I kind of want to give it a second try, although I'll have to come up with a different breakfast food. I might have to do another one before her, though. I really want to get her right, because Pinkie is best pony.

For Twilight and Applejack, it was the part of their day that satisfied them most. The delicious few minutes where they pondered things otherwise removed from there minds. This small part of their day, enjoying the simplest things is sacred.

An interesting set of ideas, to say the least - especially the first chapter (slice of life, forsooth!) - I wish I had seen this when it first came out.
But vacuum sealed cells with steam vents? Not sure how that would work - the moment you use the steam vent it would no longer be vacuum sealed...

Derpy is a pegasus. And pegasi are masters of wind and water.
She probably has a sub-cell underneath, running on inate pegasi weather magic which infuses each cell with heated rainclouds, aka steam.
