This was interesting. I liked what character development you could fit into so short a chapter. The dialog reflected a personal understanding and experience with socially awkward situations. It could have been more descriptive though. In this, I can ask some of the following questions: What book was she reading? What did her room look like? What did the restaurant smell like? Elaborate more. I did enjoy this, and hope to read more of your work in the future.

1926534 Well I haven't actually asked. The way I go about it is(In high school/collage mind you, in the real world this would never work and get me pepper sprayed, granted saying hi could get me pepper sprayed but still.) I say hi to her and have some basic convos, you know what is you name kind of stuff. Then I start hanging out with whatever social group she is in, mostly just being around them not really truly joining them just being around them. I would sometimes participate in their conversations if I know what they are talking about, 90% of the time I don't so I just absorb the information for later use. Eventually after a month or two we all become friends and they start talking about personal things with me around and around that time is when I find out that she has a boyfriend. So I keep the friends in the group that I made but I move to join another social click.
Creepy and serial killerish I know, but I can't help it I hate rejection and this is the way I get around it.
Sometimes a colt needs his flank kicked, especially a friggin mule like that blockhead. Celestia was right to be lenient, but she still needed to do something. I have a distinct feeling that colt will be getting a surprise visit from the Princess soon. Nopony gets away with hurting a mare under her wing.

Why are you using human names like Adam and Andrew? It really breaks the flow of the story. It's not hard to make a pony name, just take a couple adjectives, nouns or verbs and combine them together, like Star Runner or Greendust or Pool Shine or something like that.

In all honesty even if my first date ended in disaster I'd likely just try to learn from it and hope I didn't make the same mistakes next time. Practice makes perfect for these kind of situations. Oh well perhpas there's hope yet for Twilight and Time Turner.

Well I guess I am not completely surprised the doctor can be a bit of a jerk sometimes.
I'm glad that I stumbled across this, it was a really great read. Really, I loved all of it, though Trixie's role was my favourite part - and very unexpected at that. Actually, the story surprised me a bunch of times, which was very refreshing.
From the description, I thought Shining was going to end up taking Twilight on a date and the story would end up being a cute, brother-sister bonding/friendshipping thing. Obviously, that was far from what happened, but I still really enjoyed how the everything went. And how everything fell into place as the story went on - including Celestia's plans for Twilight, Shining breaking up with his old marefriend etc. - was handled very well.
And I thought your characterisations were all spot on, too
Overall, a very enjoyable story that was told wonderfully. I'll be watching to see if you publish anything else in a similar vein! Or continuity, perhaps... I know I'd like to read more about Twilight and Trixie's relationship after they meet in Boast Busters!
