You have a fairly varied low-frequency lexis but you need to develop your grammar and syntax further before fully taking advantage of the points I mentioned. You need an equal mix of prose, grammar, lexis and imagination to pull this off, but your grammar is lacking. Nothing a little practice won't fix though.

There's nothing wrong with an alicorn OC as long as the OC isn't a Mary Sue and if the author doesn't rub in your face that the OC is an alicorn. Heck this story hasn't even mention the horn or the wings except in the cover picture.

Alicorns are supposed to be gods and all powerful entites of the MLP: FIM universe.
Compare you with them is just awkward, I dunno. Other than that, Quantum already did what I would do, Read, read and read more. Then when you are tired from reading, try to write something, show it to a friend, see if he likes it, and if he does like it, read even more...

Alicorn OC's are generally considered bad, self-inserts are generally considered bad.
Self-insert alicorn OC's generate undying amounts of rage and are generally send to the deepest bowels of the Train Wreck Explorers' folders.
