This story is a sequel to MLDC: The Justice League of Equestria - Omnibus 1

Welcome back, ponies! Time to kick off the second Omnibus of my Justice League of Equestria stories. Introducing more heroes to this world and continuing the adventures of some of the already established ones.

And kicking off the second Omnibus is...

The Lunar Hunter Vol. 1: Son of the Moon

  • He was the last of a dying race. His entire species was taken from him by a mysterious disease. He never knew why he was spared, but he thought he would be condemned to an eternity of roaming the barren moon until he made a psychic connection with a lost alicorn, the first friend he ever made. When that friend was freed and returned home, he followed her, but he couldn't escape his past. The dark force responsible for his race's extinction had followed him and is determined to finish the job.

Hey there. Glad to see the new batch to this series up and running. The dialogue, characterizations and future chapter set-up are all wonderfully done. REALLY loved Jean and Twilight's chat at the beginning as well as the observations concerning the normal ponies in the search/rescue/recovery teams. And Jean's chat with Luna was excellent too. And, yes, Jean's reflections on whether he has a place in Equestria as well as the consequences of action, even with noble intentions, and on his own powers is appropriately emotional.

I am really looking forward to more of this.

As always, thank you for the comment!

Yeah, I felt like I could make that a recurring theme in this omnibus. Especially with the villains I'm planning to introduce. This trope is called the Superhero Paradox and I'm planning to milk it for all its worth. As for Jean, even he is going to have to learn to get by without his powers with what I'm planning for him.

Stay tuned for more!

Hey, you mentioned that one of the volumes for Omnibus 2 is going to feature the Titans. Are they going to be the CMC and DT and Silver Spoon?

11859943
My Titans lineup is going to be as follows:

Apple Bloom - Robin
Sweetie Belle - Cyborg
Scootaloo - Blue Beetle
The Cake Twins - Captain MareVel Jr. And The Marvel Colt once Pinkie shares her power with them in Mightiest Mare of Equus Vol. 2
And an OC as Wonder Filly who is going to be introduced in the Alicorn Amazon story who will be essential in that story.

This is a good start. I look forward to what comes next and keep up the good work.

Well seeing as you're my proofreader, you'll get to see that early.

Thanks!

Whoa mama. Talk about an appropriate unnerving chapter. REALLY like the work going into the exchanges, characterizations and future chapter set-up. Indeed, Jean showing those types of instincts concerning these nightmare versions of his late family was really understandable as well as the experimentation concerning his usual abilities to determine that they aren't working right now. This seems like one nightmare that isn't giving him a chance to just wake up, but hopefully he'll be able to get out of this on wits and courage alone, because that's just about his only chance.

Anyway, really looking forward to more of this.

As always, thank you for the comment!

Indeed. Wit will play a key role in solving this horrifying mystery and he'll need all fbe courage he has. And from the next chapter, Jean will also have to run a race against time. So yeah, the odds are not in his favour in this adventure.

Stay tuned for more!

The plot indeed thickens. Nicely done and i look forward to the next one.

Unfortunately, Charles Xavier is unavailable since he's Marvel, and DC doesn't have an equivalent to Professor X.:facehoof:
Sorry, J'ean. You're on your own and shit out of luck. :twilightoops:

This situation has Doctor Destiny written all over it.

Hmm. Really? I'm going with Ma'alefa'ak.

11872756
Oh, yeah, the evil twin brother of Martian Manhunter with a nearly unpronounceable name.

To my knowledge, his only mainstream appearance was in the 2012 animated movie, Justice League: Doom.

11873108
Indeed. You see, I knew barely nothing about Martian Manhunter before starting this volume so I picked up a comic book about him and the first issue of Son of Mars which inspired this story's title was of great help! I thought the story of how Ma'alefa'ak wiped out the Martians would be a good story to adapt for my Lunar counterpart, though I only learned they were twins later so that element won't be a part of this story. Still, Jean discovering what happened to his race and avenging them should make for a decent story nonetheless.

Not much I can say beyond excellent job on the dialogue, characterizations, action and future chapter set-up. Definitely liked the interactions between Luna and Jean as the former was getting more worried about the latter. Also respected Jean gaining a better understanding of Equus's super-heroes as he was forced into open action to help out during a cave-in even if he doesn't have any powers working right now besides his strength. At least he's already managed to save A FEW ponies before he passed out (and was able to learn a bit more about some of them).

At any rate, I'll certainly be looking forward to more of this.

As always, thank you for the comment!

Yes. I wanted to present Jean being worn down by his sudden infection as well as foreshadow his weakness to fire. Fortunately, his super strength is part of his lunar physique so at least he could use that to save the day. But the infection is gonna increase the more he uses his powers so he's gonna have to seek help.

Stay tuned for more!

All through those scenes, I was hearing Jean speak with Phil Lamar's iconic voice!
Great work at putting all this together! :rainbowdetermined2:

Good start. Smart move moving to shorter chapters.

Decent job on Lulu. Kudos.

I don't know much about MMH so make me like him. Thus far he seems pretty likeable here.

Thank you for the comment!

Given how much you love Luna, this is a huge compliment from you. I also didn't know almost anything about MMH, so I had to pick up a comic about him was not only very helpful, but also inspired this first story.

Stay tuned for more!

I have some minor grievances, but I'll just say I really like the fact that Luna made his bed. Says a lot about her character.

Guess we got the big bad of this arc?
