The world is much more complicated thing than considered. Even if this is the magical world of ponies.
Sometimes such processes are being launched that simply cannot be influenced. So the only thing to do is to embrace the future and try to make less mistakes.
But in this universe the spirit of the Tree of Harmony is still inactive because the events start somewhen during the Season 8. And furthermore, I haven't decided yet, maybe the Tree will be destroyed altogether by the Equermacht.

I repeat, I haven't decided yet (but since you asked, I'm leaning more and more towards it).
But look at the situation from the outside: Celestia has to hide inside Canterlot, and the Mane Six are separated by their responsibilities and cannot already fight directly because now the firearms decide everything, not magic. And both sides has to rely on their troopers, who can get... different tasks, so to speak.
Bro this is Equestria at War, making references to real events and characters is what we do all day.
Like that ending there. I was hoping that Canterlot would fall and you were going to emulate the polish or Greek radio in ww2 (https://youtu.be/mP-deyaj7jo?si=Fg0Q1faFCEa60utV), but the whole moment of a song turning the tide and cutting between the two stations was brilliant.
