Just a guy who found out that a show about talking ponies is a lot better than I expected.

(I couldn't find a better picture of Zipp in royal regalia)

Many moons have passed since Opaline's defeat. In that time, Queen Haven abdicated her throne, passing the crown to Zipp Storm. As ruler, she reaches out to the griffon kingdom, in order to reforge international relationships. However, due to ponies' tendency to split up by race, the griffon king wants nothing to do with them. But Zipp can't give in.

An entry in Imposing Sovereigns IV, using the prompt Zipp/Persistence.

Very well done.

I think now I wanna join this contest.

That's great! You can find the rules here.

My only question, before I start reading, is why would Haven abdicate? She doesn't look that old in the show, and while she's not perfect, I'd hardly call that a reason.

Or is this an age thing?

A rare look at the mane 5 plus 1's possible future? I dig it. Also, OMG Sparky! You can talk!

This is far in the future, where she got too old.

A griffon with blue feathers? ...Any relation?

Possible descendant of Gallus. Open to interpretation.

I really liked this. I hope we get a sequel with the others helping to reach out to the other species

Intriguing look at the group quite a few years into a possible future. Definitely liked the work that went into the exchanges, characterizations and general wrap-up. And, yes, I could see this taking place when Zipp was still getting used to being Queen of Zephyr Heights and dealing with somebody who was a bit stubborn about not seeing the wisdom in renewing diplomatic ties with Equestria, leading to a meeting with and supportive dialogue from her friends and sister. And, yeah, the point about how there would be no guarantee that somebody couldn't just divide Equestria up again actually was a good one, even with the additional point out that it would take a lot of work to make sure it didn't.

Also liked the bit with the young adult (in pony years) Sparky working in good points of his own.

Zoom and Thunder led the way to the dining room, where Zipp sat down to eat. Zephyr Heights palace food wasn't bad, but she still missed the cooking her and the others would whip up in the Crystal Brighthouse. Pipp still got to partake in that, and sure, Zipp got to visit them on occasion, but the confines of royalty meant Zipp couldn't live in the Brighthouse anymore.

Yeah that was always going to be a big problem for her since she is going to be the ruler of Zephyr Heights like it's going to happen sooner or later

Ponies had only recently reestablished contact with the griffon kingdom. After the dragons had all awoken from their long hibernation, it only made sense for ponies to reach out to the other sapient races that had once been allies of Equestria. According to the research Sunny's father had gathered from the time of Twilight Sparkle, that included griffons, yaks, changelings, hippogriffs, and many others. Nopony was sure why they'd broken contact with these other kingdoms in the first place, but Zipp was willing to bet Opaline, as well as the tribes of ponies breaking up, had something to do with it.

Well at least there are two creatures they actually reached out I've always wondered about the other creatures out there hopefully we get to see them again

"Let's just get this over with," he growled, giving Zipp a quick shake. He then strolled past her, towards the royal meeting room. Zipp stared after him, confused as to what his problem was. As far as she knew, she'd followed royal protocol to the letter.

Oh boy some attitudes hasn't changed over those past thousands of years

"Let me stop you right there," Greer cut her off. "As far as I'm concerned, our only discussion here should be about how we can convince you ponies to leave our kingdom alone. And I ain't just talking pegasi. We don't want earth ponies or unicorns, either."

Racist much 😡

Zipp's heart fell. She knew the division of ponies would come up at some point, but she didn't expect it to be the entire thrust of the meeting. While ponies had moved on from their fear and paranoia of each other, evidently other races hadn't forgotten. The worst part was that Greer had a legitimate point. How could you trust a species that split themselves apart by race not once, but twice?

Yeah I guess that's a good point when it comes to trust it's really hard to get it back after what happened especially what Opaline have done to give the ponies that kind of reputation

"Yeah, but what's to stop somepony like Opaline from showing up? Somepony who wants all the magic in Equestria for themselves?" asked Pipp. "There could always be another villain."

Yeah when there's always good ponies and creature out there those also bad ones out there who will take advantage of it it's a never-ending good versus evil

Wow that was a pretty good so it looks like this is a future event when zipp became the ruler of zephyr heights of course she was pretty nervous especially having to talk with the other creatures like the Griffins to have come peace with each other but of course it did not go as planned because apparently the king wants the ponies and the creatures to leave them alone have nothing to do with the others since he can't trust the ponies or the pictures words that nothing like that will happen but she wants to make it work somehow despite the past luckily is royal advisor change his mind but they're going to have another meeting for this and she was pretty disoriented and dishearted about this whole situation that the Griffins would not accept peace and becoming allies with them but I guess With a Little Help from her friends she needs a point about like the history about the Equestria and how things were pretty damaged especially the trust but they can amend that relationship and unfortunately we don't know what evil pony or creature will come around but they will find a way to come together and defeat the huge threat and it looks like the king will agree to it and it should be a very bright future again this is why I really don't like politics it really brings the worst out of people but she handed it pretty well again well done on the story keep up the good work

This isn't bad, but it does reinforce my own belief that the sisters would work best as co-rulers, each covering the other's weaknesses and reinforcing her strengths.

As for the story, there's not much to it beyond a recap. Greer's argument is such poor faith that I'm amazed anything could convince him, especially when the pivotal point is a part of his own history. I wish Zipp had thrown back his unreasonable demands back at him ("Can you guarantee the griffon kingdom will never attack Equestria? If you were never interested in reestablishing contact, this may just be gathering intelligence for the invasion.") He'd end up less convinced by her arguments than impressed by her own willingness to put aside pointless niceties to do what she feels is right for her people.

Of course, at this point, I'm just rewriting the story to fit my own tastes. :twilightsheepish: In any case, thank you for the entry and best of luck in the judging.
