Everygriff's got to do their part for Mt. Aris, what with trouble on the horizon; and what can be done, by whoever can do it, should be done. And if Queen Novo needs a face for the country - a perky, cheerful, smiling face to keep the general public happy and enthusiastic enough to soldier on as always, who better to do it than a hippogriff who's reputation abroad was that she could turn the world on with her smile?
Mt. Aris needs a personality to sell. Silverstream fits the bill. It's nothing less than her friends would do for their countries.
And what's a few silly comments compared to the happiness of others? It's no less than her friends could do, right?

Hi hello yes I would like to file a report that this story punched me in the stomach and then curb stomped me before dumping my body off a bridge.
WOW. Dude, this is insanely well done. The parallels that led into each scene break were amazing. The economy of words in this story is so rich. So much story delivered just by implication. Entire story lines spring to mind in my imagination from single sentences. The whole bit about Ocellus disappearing and Smolder desperately searching for her? Delicious. The tragedy of this world is dripping from every word.
But I think for me personally, it's all about Silverstream's stage persona. I work in broadcasting, and while I can't say it's a 1 to 1 comparison to my experiences, I definitely understand the "smile through the pain, the whole world is watching" pressure she feels. No matter how I feel, no matter what's happening in my personal life that isn't great, it's all smiles as soon as the light comes on. You captured that so beautifully and vivdly.
Great story all around, and it's just icing on the cake that it's a story about Best Girl! Absolutely lovely, but now you owe Silverstream a happy fluff fic to make up for all the trauma you've caused.

A good fic, I liked it, even though I'm not really fond of the student six. Although some context would be nice, even if it was probably left vague on purpose. What sort of war is going on? Who's fighting who?
