When a crossover is needed, why not make it educational?

Based on the Goofy "How To..." series.

An entry in Estee's Who Crossed Over My Little Pony contest.

If you're not comfortable with cartoon sensibilities of the 30s and 40s and want to avoid the intro, skip to the title of the story in the story (can't miss it) for the guaranteed family-friendly part.

can we have a video of this done in a safe way?

Probably not, but it would be awesome while it lasts.

indeed. very worth to watch.

Oddly enough, I was looking for that to happen in the fic, but if it did, I missed it...

I didn't have any scene where it jumped out at me, so I forgot to find a place to put it in.
I managed to slip it into the Canterlogic product showcase now, though. :trixieshiftleft:

Before this fic, I was unaware that "Quirky Worky Song" had generally agreed-upon lyrics.

Good job capturing the tone and humor of the instructional cartoons. This is a format that's really difficult to adapt to text while still getting the jokes to land, but you did it.

Yes, yes, artist’s block is an affliction that has brought low cartoonists much bigger and more accomplished than you.

Isaac Asimov wrote or edited over 500 books. He is the only author to have published a book in every major category of the Dewry Decimal System (Well, not philosophy. Although he did annotate some books of the Bible + some speculative essays on several events in the Bible.)

Ellison's comment on this
"Isaac did have writer's block once. It was the worst 5 minutes of his life."

I had to look them up or I probably would've ended up with something phonetic like "shoobedibedoo-dah" or the like. :scootangel:

I'm glad you enjoyed the story and its format. Thank you for the comment.

well, I've had a bad, stressful week. And this... really picked me up and helped me smile. Really funny and well-written, River. :)

Thank you. I'm glad I could help you start this week off on a better note.

“App… Applicant Number One emerges, singed but triumphant!"

I understood that reference.

Right before another piano lands on top of him with a discordant sound.

I see you've taken the fact that Estee announced this contest to heart. :raritywink:

a tunnel with “Queen Haven Was Here” carved into the wall.

The Vetinari School of prison design: Never build a prison you can't break out of.

Goofy perks up and holds up a hands, running off stage before loudly walking back into view wearing an entire one-man-band ensemble with a large drum on his back, a cymbal on top, a tuba around both and a harmonica in front of him.

A bit more of that and he'd probably summon the spirit of Pinkie Pie.
... Yeah, it's a good thing the narrator stopped him.

Excellent work in capturing the tone of a Goofy "How To" video, to say nothing of a fantastic presentation of the G5 cast. This is one of my favorite Phyllises I've seen thus far. Thank you for this, and best of luck in the judging.

I see you've taken the fact that Estee announced this contest to heart.

If you can believe it, I actually restrained myself to ingratiating myself just that one time and wasn't directly thinking of her stories on this one.
I am, however, absolutely prepared to believe that falling pianos are just another thing Disney plagiarized from the public domain and that Estee came up with it first.

The Vetinari School of prison design: Never build a prison you can't break out of.

The general design also implies that she fully expected someone from her family to end up there sooner or later.

This is one of my favorite Phyllises I've seen thus far.

I do love myself a good character redemption, but when you're writing a comedy, "pragmatically repentant" is the way to go.

Glad you enjoyed the story, and I'm glad that my parody loving homage of the source material gets the seal of approval from probably the one most qualified to give it on this site. :raritywink:

As a major fan of the source material, let me say: Impeccably done.

Thank you for the comment. I'm glad to hear that I've managed to stick the writing on a style that's so much designed for animation. :scootangel:
