    theworstwriter's Stories (17)

This is the story of two ponies who happen to be in love saving Equestria.  That's a fairly generic premise, but more specificity will only make it sound worse.  Let's go down the list.

    First-person?  Check.

Chapters are way too short?  Check.

Chapters are published out of order?  Double check.

    OC as the narrator?  Check.

    OC shipped with Trixie?  Check.

Details on the shipping kept light enough to not satisfy people looking for a shipfic or apply the romance tag, but heavy enough to bother those against the ship?  Check.

    Poorly written?  Triple check.

Time travel?  Oh you best believe that's checked.

Peppered with references nobody's gonna get?  Check.

There's no way this could possibly succeed.  Let's do this.

Well, you've got me intrigued, your checklist of reasons why I shouldn't be notwithstanding. Looking forward to more as you complete the outline and start filling in details.

I see you're the kind of pony who likes reverse psychology... OR DO YOU :pinkiegasp:

Now this is an interesting one... posting the actual chapters out-of-order and out-of-context in keeping with the time travel theme. And it sounds like some kind of high-grade disaster is already going down in the future. I hope faving this in the present will keep me up-to-date on past chapters? :rainbowhuh:

    I agree with Luna here.

    Explain.

    Or confuse us further.

    Either is good.

Hmm... interesting. I'm guessing you already have the story mapped out to some degree, or you're a genius if you make this work by making it up as you go. Either way, I will be looking forward to more.

Oh goddess, you're doing it again. If this is as mindblowing as Double Rainboom, I'm going to find you, AGAIN, and punch you in the arm, AGAIN.

Wow. Gordia had less fearsome knots than what you've done with the timeline. I hope you've written down all of this somewhere.

The potential hazards of time travel are truly innumerable. Also, one wonders how any kind of conversation can take place when the participants are temporally antiparallel to one another (treating perceived time flow as a vector.)

:applejackconfused: I think I just hurt my brain trying to figure out how that conversation with Twilight would go. That's probably going to be a running thing with this story...

There are two ways to hold a conversation when your partner's time is reversed from yours (that I can think of - feel free to suggest more):

    1) Knowing the questions you're going to ask and only not knowing the answer, you go in with the intent to ask, receive the answer, then ask so as not to paradoxificate everything.  This is relatively straightforward, but hairy.  It relies on time travel working a particular way and opens you up to danger, plus, you generally need to have the whole conversation mapped out with only blanks for them to fill in.

    2) You segment it.  Only possible if you can jump around, but luckily Trixie and European Black (Haven't actually said that full name in story yet, have I?  It's a VERY dumb joke once you get it) can do that.  The example that's easiest to understand is this: you appear at the end of it for you and the beginning for your friend; tell them you'll be right back, backwards, ask them the question, backwards, then greet them, backwards; jump to a few minutes before that, thank your partner and say goodbye, backwards, listen to the answer, backwards, then say "Hey I'm back" backwards before disappearing again.  Tweak and extend as needed.

It is not necessary to know exactly how the backwards conversation was done, just that it was tricky, stupid time shenanigannery and that it was likely very difficult.  Trixie is a talented mare.

I don't suppose you've read Homestuck, have you? Because the segmented tachyonversation seems oddly familiar. Heck, the entire story's founded on weird time shit. I haven't seen a timeline this scrambled since Double Rainbow.
