Liked without reading due to recognition of the fact that Luna is petite (though I will read it).
"I wondered why Twilight was so much taller than Luna in the series finale even though Luna was many decades older at minimum."
The show runners wanted a "circle of life" vibe and that required making Twilight into Celestia 2.0 regardless of logic?
But this is certainly an amusing way to deal with it.
Pretty good story overall. Though it made me kinda feel that Luna (unfairly?) got the short end(legit no pun intented) of the alicorn growth, both in here and in the show. Also always felt kinda "meh..." about Twilight becoming basically Celestia2.0/Purplestia.
"Well, time to become Nightmare Moon again. Then I'm at least the same size as them" Luna, probably.
Originally, Luna was supposed to grow to Celestia's height. This was said by Lauren way back in 2011, I think. But I guess it was never stated in any scripts, as Luna was her Season 1 size in Luna Eclipsed still, then her design was finalized as that.
Although I also started to headcanon what the author had, that Luna is just simply smol for an Alicorn

Luna was not in her season 1 design in Luna Eclipsed. She was very small, normal pony sized or smaller in season 1, while Luna Eclipsed had her from-then-on standard design.
I believe the line you're thinking of was Lauren responding to someone asking why Luna grew between season 1 and Luna Eclipsed, and she said that in season 1 she was weakened by being cleaned by the elements, and that she was back to her normal size and strength by the time of season 2.

You are both right and wrong. In Luna Eclipsed, she is indeed somewhat bigger compared to FiM, pt2. But if you look at the few screenshots of her in FiM pt2 where she is in the same scene as the mane six, you can see that she is still taller than them. But at any rate, animators were always a bit inconsistent with scaling the characters.

Actually, she was answering that to someone asking why Luna's design was different, and I think height in itself wasn't brought up.

My headcannon for Luna's size was because of the transformation into Nightmare Moon (which forced her to physically/magically grow) negatively affected Luna's physical growth so when you saw Luna after Nightmare's defeat it reverted her to very low powered Alicorn state (pony size) and she just needs a long long time to heal/recover before she can start growing again

So incredibly cute! And I feel Luna's pain. I'm the shortest male in my family, while every. Single. Other one is six feet plus. I missed out at 5' 11.5". My baby brother, whom I used to tease without mercy, (because reasons) is now six two. And my own son dwarfs me at six four. I remember when he was no bigger than a loaf of bread...(sigh)

I found a typo. Should be and not an.
Beyond the typo, I found the “minute” sentence awkward enough that I almost stopped reading, and that would have been a shame. After reading the story, it strikes me that it is more than an “ironic expression.” May I suggest adding to that sentence the word, “minutiae” as in little details? It is a final quip that might well go by Luna, but not be missed by your readers.
Getting larger will be a tall order for Luna.

I thought that at first, but when Luna is shown in flashbacks set before she becomes NMM, she's the same size as she is in Season 2 onward. It's probably because the animators didn't want to make a new character model for just a few minutes, but it's nice to have an in-universe explanation.

Ah, I did not recognize the expression as slang. Celestia doesn't strike me as particularly hip, but maybe it was your intention to point that out with Luna's retort as Celestia's contemporary? I did recognize that minute is also pronounced myNOOT, as is small, so you would get a double-double entendre with my suggestion. It doesn't diminish that the story entertained me enough to get my upvote and comments. Good work.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure that while we have seen Twilight in the future we haven't seen Luna. So, theoratically she might have grown as well. Maybe the 1000 year in the moon delayed her growth?
It's all assumptions, but who knows.
