"When the buckled girder lets down the grinding span, the blame of loss, or murder, is laid upon the man." - Julia Ecklar & Leslie Fish

When you've been using that front wheel drive rental for a year straight, one that barely makes 80HP, having to deal with the rental costs, you get sick of it.

Tempest Shadow has been driving such a rental into the ground and decides it would be cheaper to shell out some bits for a properly reliable car. She's heard a lot about a technology called VTEC, so maybe she'll get something with that. Sounds interesting.

SOMEHOW featured between 11/10/21 and 11/12/21. YAY!

This is definitely one of the stories of all time.

I'm sorry, what?

The perfect distraction from doing a Build-Your-Own PC online saying as I was going nuts over that. Love how the story turned out.

11044690
Thank you! I was bored and just wanted to quickly put out a little oneshot while working on my main story, so it being this good feels... good.

This was a fun one.

This one shot was a critical hit on my "have-to-read-it-now-o-meter!" Well done! :rainbowdetermined2:

...Huh. Well that... sure was a story. :D

11044999
Ha! Someone gets it!

WroooooOOOOOOOOoommm!

As someone who has owned a Prelude and is in the process of buying a 3rd gen, very cool

11045612
Really now? What trim level?

Congrats on the feature!

11045661
Used to have a 5th gen Vti-R ATTS (Aussie version of the SH). Always wanted to do up a 3rd gen, just need the space currently

Nothing is better than the VTEC kick. Especially when it comes alive and pulls all the way to 12k redline. Get the right format and it sounds like a little baby V8.

11045751
Ok my ENTIRE WEEK has been made. This is the first time I've ever had a story get featured. And it... admittedly saddens me to know that since my main story hasn't gotten too much traction.

11045765
I’ll be honest, that’s how it goes sometimes. The good news is that being featured often gets you more views on other stories.

Sorta impressive how one-track-minded the salesponies were. Sure, you'll sell a show car...at a 50% markup. Everyone wins!

11045800
True I guess. Maybe I'll try writing more things like this. Hopefully then my main story can get some traction.

And comments...

I now want a story about Tempest becoming a illegal race drift driver through shenanigans. Somehow that helps save Equestria repeatedly.
Don't look at me like that, it's not weirder than anything ponies have came up with before! :derpytongue2:

11045182
I don't :fluttershyouch:

My experience has told me practical and sporty don't mix when it comes to cars.

11046274
I mean... I doubt that would be too hard to write if someone (who is experienced or knows a lot about the sport, specifically the techniques involved) were to give it a go. Tempest would undoubtedly be the most intimidating racer anypony had ever seen, that's for sure.

Also, Tempest? Florence? What word means about the same thing as Tempest, that recently had the name 'Florence' attached to it?

11046283
Wait, wasn't that back in '18? Also sorry, I'm not American so I don't follow hurricane season, but thanks for clarifying it!

Hm. Nice... but... it's not a MLP Fanfic ^^;;; I mean... Yeah there is a character named Tempest in it and she is said that she is a mare, but EVERYTHING in it is implying a human world, with human things. Just changing Tempest name to Bella and removing the few "ponysm" sprinkled around [the term stallion at the beginning for example, or the hoof-pound thrown there] and you have a "Twilight" fanfic. There is nothing that REALLY makes this something that is My Little Pony and a LOT that put it in a NOT MLP ambient.

11046289
2017 actually. And you're welcome!

Edit: wait nevermind it was 2018. I'm dumb.

11046376
I see where you're getting at. But if you think about it, this logic could be applied to a lot of fanfics. All you need to do is change the names to non-pony-like names, switch out a town name, if a unicorn were to fire a blast at someone you could change that to a person firing a gun, and a pegasus flying could be a person flying a plane or just walking.

Honestly, removing the pony terms from any fanfic would easily turn them into a non-MLP fanfic. Plain and simple.

11046394
Not really... This one is STRONGLY neutral. And has a LOT of things that are "background" human. I mean... You start with Tempest having a rental car, just that is "strange", yes you put "alternate universe" as a tag but just that with the namedropping of "real" cars implies pretty much a standard human world... same with the description of the drive test. The "pony" things are minor background details... That is my point. Fundamentally this story works with minor changes ANYWHERE. The fact that Tempest Shadow IS a pony, that is a quadruped WITHOUT opposable thumbs and a malfunctioning horn is FIRMLY off screen, the narration posits that it works as it would for a human. [and this does not have an anthro tag.]

11046409
Well... alright then. I don't see the issue though. It's not like it's against the rules.

To address some things, yeah. She is a quadruped. Four legs. Front ones either rest on or press into the steering wheel, while the hind ones operate the pedals. This isn't unrealistic for the show. Take The Cart Before the Ponies for example. They may not be driving fullsize automobiles but karts are very close. There's even a scene where Rarity shifts gears on her kart! WITH HER HOOF!

About the malfunctioning horn, I don't know if it's an actual issue when she isn't using trying to use magic. Admittedly, I have never seen the movie, so... yeah. It's not like she uses her horn in this anyways. She doesn't need to. If that was an issue she had in the movie, then that's on me.

And this isn't anthro.

11046429
Again that is just left OUT of the fanfic.
Your examples on the post before are not that sensible... just to say... you CANT swap a Pegasus flying with a Human flying a plane, a pegasus can hit a mountain at full speed and AT MOST end up with a couple broken bones for one, for another they can fly INDOORS, and that just to address that example, for unicorns it goes so out there that is not even funny, teleport, telekinesis, self levitation, metamorphosis and so on... This story simply has nothing that is particularly "pony".

11046442
Fricken- uh- hey, I just like writing ponies in cars, alright? I totally understand where you're coming from though.

11046457
Eh. but it's not a pony in a car ^^;;;
As an example the Sunbeam stories by Admiral Biscuit are about ponies in car with actual feel of ponies in cars ^^;; Here it's mainly nerding about cars [that's fine eh don't get me wrong]

Barley a few paragraphs in, but I can already tell that you wrote this to flaunt your knowledge about cars.

11046599
oh they did, they so did. but does it matter really?

11046599
I wasn't writing to flaunt knowledge.

And I wouldn't exactly call it 'knowledge' anyway. A lot of the stuff was found via quick google searches.

11046697
lel, I was kidding. Silly story!

Um Miss... Fizzlepop was it?

11046750
I was hoping you were. Thanks for reading!

Haha that's fun!

This was a very good one-shot. I loved the part when Tempest had words with the manger.

11046574
Tonight on Bottom Gear I throw a bodypillow full of C4 into a preschool, Richard singlehandedly wipes Kansas off the map, and James gets 3rd degree burns on his schlong after trying to hump a car exhaust.

Upvoting this short story because VTEC JUST KICKED IN YO

Looking at the front, she saw a pair of retractable headlights. She had always wanted something with retractable headlights. Something about them was just so enticing to her. The way they flipped up and down, created the best look for 98% of cars.

Tempest: "Open up your eyeeees... uhm, lights."

"Nopony told me I had to do that."
The stallion, which she assumed was the manager of the place, stood dumbfounded. "Nopony told you?"

To be fair, you left before he could tell you anything...

The manager cowered as she stared daggers into his very soul. "Uh, R-R-Right this way, ma'am. I-I'll get t-the paperwork and get you a d-discount."

:facehoof:: "Okay Tempest, I see you are in dire need of additional Friendship Lessons. Again!"

Good story!
I enjoyed reading it.
And someone give those poor stallions a day off.

Do you like... my car?

My car...

My car...

Big congrats on your feature!

11047682
Well, I didn't ever reference when this story takes place, be it before or after the movie, so she either forgot about the lessons or hasn't learned them yet. Depends on how you want to look at it.

11047772
Not gonna lie, I have been debating whether or not I want to write a story of Tempest being an actual racer. As I said in another comment, she would undoubtedly be the most intimidating at a race. And she is already a strategist in battle, so she'd be pretty good in the race itself. In fact, a LOT of MLP Characters could be stupid good automotive racers if you think about their personalities. Especially a certain Cerulean Pegasus.

Wow, I enjoyed your story, waiting for your story on whether Tempest becomes being an actual racer

now you should warp your car.why car wrap is important .A vinyl wrap is the mechanism of decision for vehicle publicizing since it costs substantially less than a custom paint work, and it offers altogether more plan and finish choices than paint. However, with costs so sensible, wraps are presently turning into the favored strategy for repainting for private vehicle proprietors, too..

Back in the 1980s my brother named his car Gus (for Gutless Ugly Shitbox) :facehoof:

thanks for sharing this this post was so informative i have this similar website to cost to wrap a car
