Regarding long description:
"of his own"? Are we supposed to assume the foals ask silly questions? Seems like saying that in a new sentence before the existing one would be clearer.
Story itself:
Nice bit of continuity/world-building... and a clever way to get foals to nap by Twilight (although who knows who invented it... Luna, Shining, Cadance, Flash, and her are the most likely candidates).
