I'm disappointed. Why isn't this a story where you can submit stories you don't like for "canon" Twilight to edit?

I had no idea what to expect and I wasn't disappointed.

Rules are made to be broken. :moustache:

I am regrettably not sure if that's allowed, (I know, ironic right :rainbowhuh:-- see the site's rule on "'inserting comments between the lines of anotherpony's copy-pasted story.'" and "Meta" stories), but I have considered *bonus* chapters or side stories (in-between the site-rules focused chapters that will likely focus on the Mane 6's writing endeavours). :pinkiecrazy:

The bonus chapters (or side-stories) may or may not include: Derpy's Letter to Thy Editor, Spike's commentary on Power Pony episodes, the Foal Free Press gets edited by Twilight, et. cetera and all that Latin. . .; so I will consider specific *pertinent* in-world brainstorms--but no promises.

You can do these things as blog or group discussion posts. Rage reviews does something similar. But, you do need permission from the authors you want to... edit... lol. Then again, you can always do your own stories. Might seem pretentious tho.

Glad to be of service! :derpytongue2:

I have never seen the term "greentext" used in such a manner before. I have only ever seen it used to describe a particular writing format that was once popular on the chans.

This story is spoofing the Fimfiction.net rules and guidelines that pop up for confirmation when users post a story on the site. Everything in it is related to the guidelines and it goes through them sequentially. From the definition of "greentext" that Fimfiction.net uses (also reproduced under spoiler text in the author's note):

"- Greentext stories, or stories that are written essentially in bullet-point format. It doesn’t matter if the text isn’t green, or if you’ve omitted the > (greater-than) symbol. If it’s in the general format, it’s not allowed"

Thank you for reading.

Ah, okay. I suspect that the author of the site's rules was unfamiliar with greentext, because it is absolutely not a bulleted list. Greentext was (is?) a shorthand that was specific to the chans. It allowed authors to write quickly, as it entirely eschewed prose and sentence structure in favor of conveying simple concepts with each line. As such, even ESLs could greentext with ease. Chans being the cradle of the fandom, greentext was the favored format for producing stories within threads that were based on prompts and themes. Later on, the efficiency of greentext made possible massive CYOAs that were usually DMed by one author each. The major drawback to greentext is that people who are not steeped in the local culture, like the person who wrote this site's rules, will not adequately understand the nuances, in-jokes, and general tone that make greentext stories singularly entertaining.

I personally rarely used the format to write stories. I love all of the linguistic tools that I have picked up over the years too much to leave them unused. That doesn't mean that I don't enjoy the hell out of reading a good greentext.

Yeah knighty's a real wanker. I've probably had a dozen stories pulled over the years for various violations

I am waiting for those side stories; they sound wonderful.

Also:

Meta stories, defined broadly as any story about the site or its users. What constitutes meta is largely up to staff discretion.

... just saying, I think this story is fine, and I'm not staff.
