I am Scootaloo. My ancestor was Princess Raphinae, the founder of the island kingdom of flightless pegasi.

Takes place sometime before Diamond Tiara's reformation.

Oh, my heart. I wanna give Scootaloo a hug and insist she's valid.

I was kinda hoping that Raphinae would have been a real country and Scootaloo was originally from there, like maybe her mother had had a fling with one of the pegasi that lived there shortly before marrying Snap. Good story anyways.

This made me cry. On the techinical and emotional you really captured Scoots and her youth. The emotions where just there.

I also loved how unspoken yet, pungent the world building was...

Ps. I loved the island it sounds beautiful.:scootangel:

Then perhaps you should go visit the IRL island of Mauritius, formerly the home of the dodo bird.

Thanks for the recomendation! And Props for suporting your real life inspiration.

I guess I'm with sykko: you played with my hopes and you Dashed them! :rainbowhuh:

But seriously, good story. I think this is one of those stories where it's partly about our vicarious disappointment because that's part of how life is.

ANOTHER story idea that appeals to me! But I would have to ask sykko and probably Mica too for permission, before doing anything with it.

I am starting to have island Scootaloo story idea backlog.

I have no problem with that. Honestly, before this story, I wouldn't have though of Scoots being anything but 100% Equestrian born and bred.

Thanks for writing this fun story. I am glad that you too the time to do it.
I thought this story was something different but I was surprised.
I like how Schootaloo calls Holiday and Lofty her real parents and Holiday mentally calling her brother out for the way they are raising her daughter. We all wish we could do that.

People say literature comes from life, and this story is why.

As I was reading this, my thought process was basically: "This feels like it was written by a child as their first attempt at self-insert fanfic-- Hang on a minute!" XD

I originally thought that this was going to be a neat historical fiction story, but then it read like something a kid would write, turns out you did it on purpose so props for letting Scootaloo's writing sound like something she would actually write. It would be too easy/tempting to want to clean it up or do as good as YOU know you can write. Kinda reminds me of the time when our church organist intentionally played badly as part of the theme of that particular week.

Hi Mica! It's always a pleasant journey to read (and re-read) your work. I translated this story into Chinese, the same as usual, and you can find the link below. I hope you have a nice day!

Thanks, and 新年快乐!

Greetings. Your reading has been completed and can be found below. I hope you enjoy.

Listened to this via the above reading.
Scootaloo's story was a nice mix of something a child would write yet also feeling oddly mythical. I could see why an island of flightless birds would fascinate her so much. And in her real world, it was sad seeing her situation. Since it sounds like this is meant to fit in canonically, thankfully things get better for all of them soon.

Love this story!

Hello! Have a review. Apologies for the delayed courtesy note: blame partly Covid and partly me. I liked the way the writing style had a purpose, and you do get a nice sense of how Scootaloo feels about her aunts vis-a-vis her actual parents. Scootalove is best love, in any case, so have this upvote. :scootangel:
