FINALLY! I have been waiting on this for quite some time and I am glad I was awake to catch it being posted.
Since Neil's unfortunate death, I have been driven to tears many times over a few pieces of art depicting interaction between Neil and Luna. A particularly moving one had Luna telling Celestia that she would forever miss her strange friend.
However, much to my chargin, there have been no good stories depicting any form of relationship and as such I felt an oppertunity was being missed. I felt the urge to do one myself, but I'm afraid that I might do wrong the legacy of an American hero. However, you have done no wrong in this story. It is beautifully crafted and I cannot wait to read more.

This seems like a very interesting story. And though some might disagree, I don't feel that it ruins Neil's legacy at all. What ruins his legacy is all this "faked moon landing" crap that everyone seems so interested in.
But I can't wait for the next chapter. It's good so far.

First Contact. I'm betting that, whilst NASA trains astronauts to handle any number of First Contact scenarios, actually dealing with one is a completely different mental and spiritual exercise. I also suspect that Neil probably wasn't expecting 'ET' to be a very graceful winged unicorn with the apparent ability to psychically manipulate her environment.

Actually she doesn't, watch the first and second episode and look at how she talks as Nightmare Moon and not to mention how she apologizes to her sister.
If she only knew how to speak with that royal we and whatnot, it would have been used throughout that entire episode.
People just saw how she spoke in S2 and latched onto that, which is fine, since is damn cute, but this is my story and I would rather have it this way.

Even with how old this story is, it was great, and deserves many more views. You did good, and as was previously stated: Right in the feels.
I normally don't favourite stories because I have a really good memory and can remember even small details so rereading is an alien concept to me. But this deserves it.
