This story is a sequel to The Once and the Future Princess

As of late, things have changed for Cozy Glow. She is not a prisoner any longer, but Princess Twilight's personal student together with Flurry Heart. She is not alone anymore, but she has made friends with plenty of ponies and become a valued friend in turn. She even has a special somepony!

Now she is ready to, for the first time in her life, be a normal filly. She will explore the world, learn and grow together with her friends and her mentor.

These are the ordinary days in the life of one of the most extraordinary ponies in Equestria.

This is an anthology series made up of one- and two-shots. Chronologically, this is set after "The Once and Future Princess", but before the Epilogue of that story. Reading the sequel should not be necessary to enjoy these stories by themselves, but it will provide the background for these stories.

You have my interest. X3 (Especially using Vito's artwork for Cover art. ;3)

Nice! I enjoyed both of the previous stories. I gotta ask though, are all of these going to be chronologically set before the epilogue of "The Once and Future Princess"? And there won't be any more stories that are set after it? I mean, it looks pretty finished already (aside from a few things mentioned at the end), and I'm not sure if it is possible to make another *big* sequel with just as good of a plot, but hey, I'd look forward to seeing something like that.

Yes there will be an actual sequel too down the line- I even have the main plotpoints thought up. But I want to focus on the ordinary days of Cozy too, and that, I feel. is better done in a separate story.

>no "Drama" tag

Phew! This one is gonna be calmer. :rainbowlaugh:

Then again, it's just an anthology.

10748314
No drama yet, but I might add that tag later on, depending on how things develop.

"Flurry, what did the duck say when she bought lipstick?" Night Light asked.

"I don't know?" Flurry said morosely.

"Put it on my bill!"

Rumble balked. She… didn't even think it was strange! Maybe in her infinite wisdom she just saw the world in such a different way than he did that such trivialities didn't matter to her anymore?

OR she’s a normal pony like you and Cozy.

Think you incorporate Cloudchaser and Flitter as Rumble’s foalsitters? I would like to see them interact with Cozy

:rainbowderp:
You know... after two stories and +100 000 words where Rumble have at least been present to some degree all the time, you'd think I'd have remembered that he has a pair of foalsitters? Guess what, I didn't.

Yeah... I'm going to have to rectify this at some point. Thanks for pointing that out.

(I can't believe I forgot this)!

10749545
Well in case you also forgot or missed this, Cloudchaser also attended in the Wonderbolts Academy with Rainbow Dash and Thunderlane. Not sure about Flitter, although I do believe she works at the Ponyville weather team as she did help the Breezies in It Ain’t Easy Being Breezies

Very nice to see this finally come out. I liked this chapter. It was cute and comfy. I like the idea of a seperate Running of the Leaves course for younger ponies. It makes sense.

"I mean… it sounds like fun, but I have to be in the kitchen most days," Rumble said. "I don't want to quit. Chef Ramson's taught me more in just these months than I'd have learnt in my whole life alone!"

Doesn't Rumble have school?

"And we have brought your Whammy if you want him!" Night Light said and levitated up a pretty old, patched stuffed snail. Everypony glanced at Flurry, who flushed red like a beetroot.

Poor Flurry. She may be a powerful alicorn, but she stands no chance against her grandparent's consistancy to embarrass her.

"He said that if I even got near Granny Smith when negotiating the price, she'd chew me up and spit me out before I even got to open my mouth. I've never really met Apple Bloom's granny, but Ramson seemed to think she is pretty tough.”

I bet this is why he was so forelorn earlier.

Doesn't Rumble have school?

Well... I suppose he should have, since he is of that age, but at the same time we see him work in the castle kitchen in the very last episode, so perhaps we can infer that he is done with basic education? I choose to subscribe to that idea, since it's the last we see of him.

Poor Flurry. She may be a powerful alicorn, but she stands no chance against her grandparent's consistancy to embarrass her.

We have all been there, haven't we? Or is that just my parents?

Very cute chapter. I liked how all of Cozy's friends were there to celebrate.

It was only now that he was here that he realized that he, an apprentice chef who didn't even have his cutie mark, had just casually walked into the Princess's own study to casually demand she'd take valuable time to send him on a date.

I wonder how Rumble would react to the amount of ponies of a "lower class" who would casually talk to Twilight like that.

"IIIIIIIEEEH!!!" He shrieked as loud as he could, spitting and coughing the rainbow liquid around, alerting several other ponies on the square, and causing Velvet Wings to rush out the door as fast as she could.

When you try to con a master...

Doesn't Rumble have school?

Equestria is a weird mix of real world past laws, cultures and systems, I think dual education system or just straight apprenticeship sounds pretty legit for foals.

Scootaloo was, together with Apple Bloom and a few other fillies, mostly earth ponies.

You might want to erase that first comma.

many conflicts, from personal to international could have been avoided if one side just stopped firing back

Or, more likely, turned from conflicts into genocide.

I suppose something like this was ineviable, especially since stubbern teenagers were involved. It makes sense that Gallus and Smolder would be the ones to hold the biggest grudges given their personalities and cultures.

She'd just avoid them until she had figured herself out. That sounded like a good idea. No need to open this can of worms right now.

This makes me wonder if she's met and talked to any of her former teachers or anyone she personally knew in Ponyville before the magic draining thing besides Pinkie and the CMC.

Cozy felt her own coat standing up on her neck; she had never heard him this angry before. His ears and tail were both flicked straight backwards and his wings were wide and tense, every feather flared. And his eyes… had narrowed to pinpricks, the purple warmth of his irises suddenly seemed cold like amethyst. "If you ," he spat the word like it was a blasphemy "are the type of creatures Twilight takes into her school, then Equestria is better off alone."

Methings Ramson may have rubbed off on Rumble a bit. I bet even Smolder felt that burn.

"Good. Now if you excuse me, I have a pair of letters to draft to another two of my students who have disappointed me today."

Nice to see that Twilight still consideres them her students even if she doesn't teach them anymore.

You know this is something I just thought of so I’m going to ask; where has Spike been this whole time? He was only mentioned once in the first story and we haven’t seen him or even heard about him since.

10766126
He is in the dragonlands with Ember as Equestria's official ambassador and Envoy of Friendship. While he will probably always see Equestria as his home and Twilight as his family, it only makes sense he'd want to experience some of his own people's culture as well. Especially if it means he get to help make the dragonlands a better place by helping to spread the ideas of friendship and generosity with the dragons. Clearly they seems to be a bit behind in those things. But he keeps in touch with Twilight through letters.

Fun chapter, I wonder how Cozy will use Twilight to catch the cheaters.

It seems that the quality of your writing has improved a lot since "Castling Cozy Glow." I remember I felt annoyed somewhat frequently when reading that story due to the less-than-great grammar and such. But in this chapter it all flowed well. Keep it up.

10767439
All thanks to my proofreader. I still make a lot of mistakes that they catch and that I clean up before publishing. I sometimes fins myself wondering how much better Castling could have been if I had their help back then too.

She flew up from the courtyard where she had waited and through the window of her room, next toTwilight's study. Her eyes greeted familiar dark blue walls, decorated with moon-shaped ornaments - Cozy had taken over Luna's room after Twilight let her live in the castle. She hung off the clothes and flew down the stairs to the castle kitchen.

Probably would’ve made more sense if I had said this earlier but I wonder how Luna feels about the fact that Cozy is staying in her room.

"Well, you can say for yourself," he said. "Ravioli." Rumble passed both Twilight and Cozy a fork each. Twilight would probably just use her magic, but not offering her a fork was probably a crime.

At this point I’m convinced that Rumble doesn’t know as much as he thinks he does when it comes to royalty and alicorns. Especially Twilight.

As the four of them kinked their glasses together, a spark of light erupted on Rumble's flank and bathed the whole kitchen.

Good for him.

I like how the methods used to take down Zesty were both simple and clever. It was all very satisfying.

Zesty's eyes narrowed. "Leave, insolent filly," she hissed angrily. She turned to Twilight. "If this is your student, I would have expected you to have taught her basic manners. But I suppose a maniac like her is a lost cause."

She is exceedingly lucky that Cozy is reformed...

"Well, at least he appreciated me as a great friend and partner in crime," Cozy said. "And I'm sure he could cook better than Zesty too."

That burn on its own could have helped cook half the food in the competition.

"Preposterous. I can assure you that I would never cheat, nor would I need to. Or would you sooner believe the words of a complete outsider before mine? The words of somepony like Cozy Glow ?"

Considering the fact that Cozy's claim could easily be checked in a few minutes without much room for Cozy herself to lie, this would be an obviously poor way to try and screw Zesty if she was actually lying. If anything, Cozy's past as a skilled schemer and manipulator combined with something so easily provable or disprovable should actually give credence to her claim.

Cozy's methods may be a shade more villainous than what Twilight would have done or liked, but her heart had been in the right place.

At least her methods weren't as bad as Discord's.

As the four of them kinked their glasses together, a spark of light erupted on Rumble's flank and bathed the whole kitchen.

Looks like Rumble's set to be a professional cook! Very well-deserved. I wonder what it looks like.

10769149
My guess is that Twilight's conveniently forgotten to explicitly mention this. What Luna doesn't know doesn't hurt her, right?

10776525

At this point I’m convinced that Rumble doesn’t know as much as he thinks he does when it comes to royalty and alicorns. Especially Twilight.

I don't think he think he knows a lot about alicorns. In fact, he'd probably think that insinuating he understands the divine mind of a princess is a crime in and of itself!
On a more serious note, I hope that part of his character isn't a point against him. It's meant as a silly quirk more than anything and to give some extra flavour and humor to his interactions with Twilight.

10777535

At least her methods weren't as bad as Discord's.

Then again, Discord's methods were just about the worst alternative conceivable. And like both Twilight and you yourself point out, Cozy's method were effective and simple. An elegant solution, all things considered.

10778222
Yeah. I get the feeling she wouldn’t necessarily be happy about it though.

10778244
I’m just saying that any conclusion he comes to is more than likely to be wrong.

Rumble.

He did not call him tomtit. That alone made him snap to attention.

OMFG!!! :pinkiegasp: A whole new level of respect earned!

As the four of them kinked their glasses together, a spark of light erupted on Rumble's flank and bathed the whole kitchen.

Saw this coming! :pinkiehappy:

I like this chapter a lot so cozy has faced a part of her past .I also hope cozy faces the young six again in my opinion it was very interesting

I suppose this reunion had to happen eventually. It was very cute and emotional. I also like the description of Rumble's cutie mark and how supportive he was.

"I- I don't know what that is," Flurry squeaked. By instinct, Cozy knew that everypony knew she was lying. They also collectively and silently decided to not call her out on it. Flurry had suffered enough already. "Let's just go, before they put me on a leash or something."

How to walk your Flurry.
By Night Light and Twilight Velvet

"No," Ramson grumbled. "It's a chef's competition. And Tomtit here's going to be my sous chef… If he can stop fooling around and put that onion out of its misery! Get to it or I will sauté you!"

NO MORE ONIONS!!!

You could do something that involves Cozy interacting with the rest of the Mane 6 and Starlight.

How about:
Cozy tries to do something nice for Twilight, but something goes wrong (an artifact, or artwork or something is destroyed), some bad-doing by some other pony, and all signs point to Cozy being at fault. Without anything to go on, Rumble and Flury disobey orders and work to prove Cozy's innocence.

About ideas:

How about a cozy glow meeting a foal or filly similar to her? Which will also be prone to manipulation and lies.

We talked about who was most generous: a poor pony who gave somepony else their last bit, or a rich pony who gave them a lot of bits but also had a lot left after

Woah. That's Mark 12:41–44 right there.

About ideas:

Sorry that I'm really pushing for Cloudchaser and Flitter to both make an appearance. It's just weird for me to read a fanfic with Rumble in it and CC and Flitter are not being depicted as his foalsitters

Not sure it's traditional for colts to get their own cuteceanera (since it's obviously based on quinceanera, which is celebrating a girl's fifteenth birthday party), but how about Rumble getting his own (at least the colt version) cuteceanera, but it's mostly about Cozy wondering and actually worrying what to get for him as a present, she doesn't want to go for the obvious ones (i.e cooking and the Wonderbolts) only to realize that she might not know much about her coltfriend as she might have thought. So in a classic Cozy Glow fashion, she heads out to gather intel, and who better to get info about Rumble than his own family? Only to learn that Thunderlane is unavailable, but along the way, she learns about Rumble's two former foalsitters. I betcha she will learn a lot about Rumble from these two (coughembarrasingphotoscough)

10790336
I like this idea. I won't have it done by the weekend, but I think I can make something to this effect work. We'll see what happens and how long it takes.

Perhaps a Hearts and Hooves Day-themed chapter? Another opportunity to focus on Rumble and Cozy's relationship, plus Flurry could have a big role in this one too, with secretly helping both Rumble and Cozy to choose a perfect gift for each other.

10790436
There will be a Hearts and Hooves Day chapter sometime, but as I'm sure you notice this story is chronological. And nearly all holidays are set in what seems to be spring or summer in the show. Therefore I don't do them right now, since it's winter in the story.

But I bet you understand that there is one winter holiday coming eventually, once I figure out how to frame it.

10789037
Maybe a chapter where Cozy sees the concept of generosity in action? Rarity is generous to somepony, and Cozy doesn't really understand why she would give something to someone without anything to gain in return. Cozy questions Rarity about it and tries to make sense of it, and by the end she kind of understands a little but not really.
