It's fanfiction all the way down.

E

A collection of short stories, based on ten prompts given to me by FiMFiction.

Chapters (10)
Comments ( 66 )

And the random drone, who had been there the whole time, pulled off her mask to reveal that she had been Princess Twilight Sparkle all along. “Nobody suspects the changeling of being a secret pony!” she shouted.

Then she kicked Tirek in the groin.

Amazing.

The heroic Writer's Block, always ready to fend off the nefarious Burnout.

That has, in fact, brought me great joy.

Clearly a relative of the infamous Villain Cube.

As Twilight is the only actual equine present at the meeting of that particular league, logic dictates that she must be Bad Horse.

"You're upset they accepted me so easily?"

"Eeyup."

"You were looking forward to being a stallion and defending the mare you love?"

"Eeyup."

"You had a long, impassioned speech memorized about how love knows no bounds, and your parents had to fight for their love, and you were willing to fight for ours, and how any Apple who doubted our deep love could step up and take a buck to the face?"

"...mmaybe?"

"Would a kiss make you feel better?"

"... eeyup."

Ha ha ha ha ha!
(Now I have a new reason to ship Rarity with Spike.)

I love this so much! Thank you.

No villains left to fight, that darn Police Squad is too efficient!

“Is that why you write so much fanfiction instead?”

A self burn! Rare but not unheard of. Doesn't Fluttershy know fanfiction is just writing with the building blocks outsourced?

“No.”

Sums everything up :)

The sheer unmitigated gall :raritydespair:

Everyone needs therapy as a general rule.

These are all glorious.

Someone get the horny bat.

Ya-yah! Ya-yah!
Mare look like a stallion!
Ya-yah! Ya-yah!
Mare look like a stallion!

This is now my headcanon.

This, too.

At last, the prophecy has been fulfilled.

How dare you sir? How DARE you. :derpytongue2:

This seems legit. Although I still like the idea its a symbiotic relationship with "cuddlefish"

Amusingly, I was part of a wedding that had a similar tradition.

Is keeping all my secrets safe tonight.

10723672 I have had that in my head ever since this appeared in New Stories last night.

She could also hear the screaming from all the ponies she crucified, because they just insisted on being jerks for more than thirty minutes, and every pious pony knew that friendship problems got resolved within half an hour.

One of my favorite Bond themes. That and For Your Eyes Only.

And yet, where would she plug it in?

Solar panel or wind generator attached to a battery bank? Wouldn't even need an inverter if the blender was retrofitted with a DC motor. (Skipping the inverter would also make it more efficient, so more blending could be done from the same battery charge.)

Or skip the electricity entirely. Treadle blender? Could be a thing, I'd imagine. Though might need some fun step-up gearing to get the RPM from a treadle.

Hmm, now I'm wondering how hard it would be to *actually build* a treadle blender, or failing that a pedal-powered one. (Actually, looking it up just now, someone made a pedal blender already.) I suspect that a treadle blender would take up a lot less space than a pedal one, though. And could be used while standing, if so desired.

I was actually just making an observation, but this works too.

Of course, she had a job in Ponyville, and couldn’t spend all day refining crude oil to make gasoline for smoothies.

Pony logic 101.

Treadle blender’s totally doable; treadle sewing machines existed and the concept would be more or less the same.

Treadmill-powered is also a possibility. Remember that episode where Rainbow and Big Mac ran on a treadmill to make cider? That was a legit method of production back in the day, and I have an old farm implement catalogue which offers them in sizes from dog to oxen.

(volume warning)

“So,” Granny Smith said, “you pregnant? Because the wedding was kind of short notice.”

“Granny!” Big Mac shouted, his face flush. “How dare you?”

“We’re not sure,” Sugar Belle said, her tone bright and untroubled. “But I did throw up, so we figured, better safe than sorry.”

A fine example of pony logic right here.

and approximately 237 other earth ponies, all of whom are part of the extended apple family.

Fun fact, I counted all the ponies in Apple Family Reunion. There were at least ten.

So I have done some tours with live theatre groups and can confirm this is all 100% accurate.

Rarity doesn’t just play the guitar; Rarity shreds the guitar.

Metal as f:yay:k

Well... I'm not sure how to feel about this.

Starlight Glimmer has a blender spell (modified from one designed to liquify Parasprites. If those bugs showed up in Ponyville again and started eating her stuff, she wasn't going to wait for Pinkie to assemble a one Pony band)

So you did your Crusade and got back and things weren't that great. So what? Relax. Take a little trip with those travelling players in their caravan. Play some chess with that old guy dressed up like Palpatine. Pretty soon you'll be dancing across the hills!

Then, Izzy Moonbow ran in. “Sunny! Sunny!” she shouted. “The tennis ball thing happened again. Look, it’s on my horn!”

The true magic of G5 Equestria. Just look at her, she’s adorable.

That ... that deserves elaboration

The issue of Human Slavery was hard fought, but ultimately legalized when Princess Twilight took her first sip of a Banana smoothie

10723807

Friendship is a very important thing, and if you think that's a problem, Sunny has a quick solution.

It was impossible to make a smoothie, a true smoothie, without first creating all human civilization.

:rainbowlaugh: This reminds me of a line from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

And Aria Blaze felt vaguely insulted without knowing why. Which was her default state, so she didn’t really notice. Even if she had, she’d have blamed Sonata.

Hey, sometimes we make the cartoons punch each other instead of kissing! Or while doing so.

Tempest Shadow’s parents put the horntip in a glass of milk, but by the time they realized she might not know it could be reattached, she’d already fled into the wilderness. Years of hard living and poor nutrition did the rest.

The only disappointed voice was Great-Uncle Pineapple Grenade, who’d been looking forward to pouring hot, boiling caramel on some invaders like in the old days.

Headcanon wholeheartedly accepted.

"Rainbow, you get therapy. Our friends are basically a support group."
"A support group for what?"
"Something different for each of us."

What's the point of the past if you can't make it more dramatic? :duck:

Meanwhile, unicorns have nice, logical wizard duels. Most opt for card games these days. Much less messy and easier to adjudicate.

I've heard worse hypotheses for humanity's purpose. Though I've also heard similar arguments for the development of ice cream.

And to be fair, Starbucks coffee is designed to be adulterated. If you're going to drink it black, use beans and brewing meant for that.

:rainbowlaugh: Oh, this is glorious. I don't suppose we could get Fillydelphia to mediate?

... Yeah, that probably wouldn't end well.

This feels like the plot of a Star Trek episode. I'm pretty sure it is the plot of a Star Trek episode, minus the crucifixions.

Delightful stuff throughout the anthology. Thank you for it all.

The end result was the lights at Wells Cargo Stadium (home of the Fillydelphia Flyers) forming the word "Stallions" for approximately .6 seconds, only detectable from above and when slowed to half-speed.

Chapter 1:
"a moment she added. “No news"
"a moment she added, “No news"?

Chapter 2:
"The word remains bares emphasis"
"The word remains bears emphasis"?

"It’s making the cartoon character kiss"
"It’s making the cartoon characters kiss"?

Chapter 5:
"let me tell you: air tour’s are just"
"let me tell you: air tours are just"?

Chapter 7:
"a sort of small-town incestuiousness"
"a sort of small-town incestuousness"?

"so Rainbow Dash’s endeavor to be "
Missing word(s)? Rainbow Dash's what? Siblings, based on the prompt?

"some skelletal pegasai, some"
"some skeletal pegasai, some"?
(I'm assuming the variant plural was deliberate.)

"“Think about it,” Cloud Chaser pointed"
"“Think about it.” Cloud Chaser pointed"?
(Though I could see "pointed" being deliberately used as a speech verb in this context; I think it does or at least could work. I thought I'd point it out just in case, though.)

Chapter 8:
"cup with a simile face on"
"cup with a smily face on"?
...Though I kind of wonder what a simile face looks like. And how it differs from a metaphor face. :D

"smoothie she had drank in her"
"smoothie she had drunk in her"?

"and whose flavored intermingled so"
"and whose flavors intermingled so"?

"one of the human’s technological"
"one of the humans' technological"?

"pay multiple pony’s salaries"
"pay multiple ponies' salaries"?

Chapter 9:

"established to monitor SCP-4757 and appraise"?

"intended transmit random characters"
"intended to transmit random characters"?

"to normal reality, it’s destruction falls"
"to normal reality, its destruction falls"?

Chapter 10:
...Yeah, my prompt was a bit, uh, long, wasn't it? :D
(Also, I think the italics tags failed to properly invert at the end of the prompt quote there.)

"Maybe the ancient people’s made a television"
"Maybe the ancient peoples made a television"?

"It hurt her to say the word."
"It hurt her to say the words."?
(Assuming that's referring to Star Power's name.)

re the anthology:
Well, that was all fun. :D
I mean, you know. Bit dark at times. But it is your work we're talking about, so. As expected. :D

(And I'm glad my prompt was able to give you some inspiration. :))
