Sounds like a mother saying goodbye to her child.

Swan hoers has that dank Empty Nest Syndrome.

Aww... This is so sweet! I feel like we rarely see Celestia’s side to leaving Twilight behind, only ever Twilight’s sense of abandonment, an instant favorite for me!

I'm glad that you enjoyed this! Though, I hadn't thought this was quite as sweet, hence the sad tag. Hrm.

EDIT: Sad tag removed after some consideration.

Definitely a perspective we don't get very often, for some odd reason.

Celestia should have learned a long time ago while still teaching Twilight, that Twilight takes things as they are presented to her. Reading between the lines is only for magical insight and research. When Teacher tells you something, that is what it is.

It's the power of patented horse Aspergers!

Wow, no wonder Luna lost her shit, if this is the consideration she gets on the night of her return after 1,000 years.

A wonderful piece! Excellent work!

Oh heck, that is not what I was going for here and I’m sorry that ended up being the takeaway. That feels like a failure on my part but I’m not sure where it would have best been reflected in the story to correct it. She does care that Luna is back, and while I had that in there, it’s not supposed to be the focus. Twilight deciding to not come home to Canterlot and stay in Ponyville is, since I realized I’d never written about that and there aren’t many stories about, well, how Celestia is alone in that regard now.

Thankies! It’s neato seeing a familiar name in my comments considering 2020 is giving the site pause.

Actually, I respect my lungs thanks :,C

Oh, my Faithful Student, it is not that I never meant for you to finally make your own friends, I just did not think you would leave me for them.

The pure selfishness of this line, along with the rest of this piece, seems like a step up from the previous story. I was a bit surprised that Celestia didn't even really argue with herself over it this time, choosing instead to focus instead on all of the tiny things that have been filling the void in her heart prior to Twilight leaving. The bitter possessiveness is something I could see behind that stoic mask. It's... unsettling, to be honest. I can accept this headcanon of the Twi/Celestia relationship fairly easily after the work you've done on it, but it does add an even more unhealthy dimension to the impossibly high pedestal Twi has already put her on.

You really are good at the feels, my man, regardless of perspective/character. That's something to be proud of.

Damn, you're gonna love Her Own Sky and Distance when/if you get to them.

I feel like the title and description are halo 2 references but that's probably my brain seeing patterns where there are none.

10692646
The title probably is. I only listen to based music while writing. The description isn’t though.

10692995
Yeah, the description made me think of Cortana's line "Don't make a girl a promise, if you know you can't keep it."

10693770
Considering I didn’t have that in mind, it’s probably just the title.
