*An AU extended ending to Season 8 - "Father Knows Beast"*
It's been days since the greedy manipulator Sludge was revealed to have lied about being Spike's Father. Spike, originally excited to have had an actual dragon as a parental figure, now fears he will never have a family outside of Twilight to call his own.
However, despite Spike's hesitations, Twilight insists that he goes on a mission to tell each of their close friends what happened in regards to Sludge's scheme and form a bond with them. Spike has his doubts though as he fears the others aren't family and will reject him. Nevertheless, he sets out on a very personal mission.
How will each pony react to finding out that the baby dragon was taken advantage of as an excuse for room and board? Will they be able to help Spike and show that they love him? Will Spike discover that there's more to a family than he originally thought?
This story is beyond adorable! I cannot wait for the next chapter :D
I like how this is looking. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the girls react to the truth about Sludge, and how Spike feels about how they treat him, along with how they truly feel about him
How interesting that Rarity would hold onto the fire ruby. And if Spike has this much to say with the pony he's known the most besides Twilight, I can only imagine what it'll be like for the rest of his friends.

Once Spike gets to Applejack, he'll have the whole Apple family behind him! That's a whole extended family unto itself! Hopefully you include Big Mac so Spike knows he has a brother too~

Great story! And I don't blame Spike for saying that Twilight's friends are not his friends. I liked what happened between Spike and Rarity, of Spike reminding her of how she treated him. Now if the next one is Applejack or Rainbow Dash, he's definitely got a ton to say to them. If Applejack, Big Mac got Spike's back, along with Apple Bloom and Granny Smith. If Rainbow Dash, Spitfire's with Spike, too. Cuz of the pranks and all. That, along with Pinkie Pie doing pranks with Rainbow Dash. Fluttershy, she treats Spike more like a pet, or like her critters, than a friend to him. But I know that it's all gonna go back to Twilight. I think the only ones that are friends with Spike are Starlight Glimmer, Big Mac, Gabby, Thorax, Smolder, and Discord. If I'm wrong on what I said, I apologize. But if I'm right, thank you. And again, great story!

Just because the chapters revolve around Spike and the Main 6 doesn't mean that others characters can't or won't make an appearance.
In fact I'm working on a big surprise for one chapter that will hopefully work out.
Though this fic is meant to capture the interactions mainly between Spike and the girls, as I feel that's where he needs it the most, I wouldn't rule out the mentioning or involvement of other characters. I hope you can still enjoy this story for what it is and hopefully what it will become.

I thought you did well with this. Out of all of them aside from Rarity ignoring Spike's feelings for her, or Pinkie leaving him out, Rainbow was the more insensitive to Spike with her rudeness. Now I look forward to seeing how Spike talks it out with Applejack and the moments they've actually had together like when Spike uses his noble dragon code to become her eternal servant
Aside from the sudden existence of t.v.s and video tapes this was a good chapter. I'm wondering what sort of wounds Spike would need to address with Applejack considering "Spike at Your Service" had her actually let him help her out for a while before he started taking it too far.
Well, that gift from Pinkie sure brought the point home at how insensitive Rainbow can be when it came to Spike!
Glad they laid this out in the open though, I've been enjoying this rollercoaster of emotions between my fave purple dragon & the rest of the Mane Five here! So it's gonna be AJ's turn next chapter eh? Hopefully they can clear out a few things after the whole *Spike at your Service* fiasco from S3.
That had the right amount of emotion and reaction I'd expect from them all, especially Spike and how he felt during the Dragon Code episode.
Applejack's overprotectiveness of her family really needed to be addressed in the show at some point, and it never was. This was the next best thing.

Only one left's Fluttershy & from what I saw in the comments it seems a certain scene at the beginning of the *Dragon Quest* might be touched upon, that should be interesting!
10357263 Fun fact: Fluttershy was supposedly meant to be Spike's crush originally, at least according to one person. I don't know if there's anything to confirm that though.
There's still the matter of Spike's godmother and godaunt: Celestia, Luna; Shining Armor and Cadence ft. Flurry Heart etc.

That was neat, sure Spike had his issues with the others with his admitting about Sludge and what was their relationship, but here he and Fluttershy really butted heads on the matter which was really unexpected.

This, this, THIS WAS AMAZING! I was in tears at the last chapter. This is what I was looking for, and it made me happy to see that Spike had the 5 ponies that are truly his family, along with Twilight and Starlight. As for what to do with Sludge, I'd like to see a one shot chapter of the girls and Spike confronting Sludge, after what he did to Spike. But this story, everyone needs to read it, if they are a Spike fan. Excellent job! Keep up the good work.
I was wondering what it could be that Spike and Fluttershy would need to work on. Definitely wasn't expecting the revelation about her wanting to be a second mom, but that's just like Fluttershy to want to be one.
This has to be one of the best stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading! And for that I thank you.
Things sure got heated between Spike & Fluttershy here, never would have thought that Zephyr would be the one to help them both come to a better understanding of each other!
Loved that party at the end there for our fave purple dragon, the feels went though the roof!
Also it was fun to see what each of the Mane Six plus Starlight were thinking in regards to Sludge should they cross paths again, I would pull up a lawn chair & some popcorn to watch that spectacle!
