10304043 In that case, let us talk about Sam. Not sure if this is in universe, but that can be asked as well. Sam mentioned that he has collection of minis. Are they already painted and is everything else done to them? I assume that he has his personal pile of shame that is yet to receive attention.
Lore question is as follows:
Skimpy armor and clothing seems to be norm formed by both religious ideology as well as certain type of functionality. Has there ever been an instance where either local or wider threat has emerged that did not embrace this ideal, as in fully armored troopers doing their thing? If yes, how did the world manage to rise above this threat? Divine intervention? Full plate rejecting OP enchantments thus providing both sides with exploitable flaws?
10309408 His minis were in fact fully painted, homebrew with his own lore behind them. They weren't good quality paints, and the bases were only the stock black plastic ones, but they were his first armies and special to him.
As for the plated mail VS. skimpy, there have been factions who sought to fight with full body armor, and there will be some warriors in the story who wear it, but most don't follow it due to ideologies and religious means. Since magic enchantments have to permeate the entire set of armor you wear, it takes more materials and magic to enchant a single set of full plated armor than a dozen pieces the girls here would wear. Think of the magic acting as innate bonuses to save rolls and invulnerable chances, while full plated only grants toughness but leaves you with no saves. Due to the monsters in the world (that we'll introduce in a few chapters) having full armor is more of a hindrance in the wilds.
10309408 In case you wanted to know, he had an Ork Deathskulls army, with looted Ultrasmurf gear, an Adeptus Mechanicus army of Skitari with an Imperial Knight, and a Chaos faction he homebrewed from World Eaters to be white and purple. He was going to start an Imperial Fist army and had a starter set for T'au, but I doubt he'll have time for those.
If anyone has questions of the lore and universe, go ahead and ask me.
WOW
