I have the answer to their question. Yes. Yes they were. Why? Because, while their idea isn't bad per se, the execution and timing (with Hasbro knowing Season 9 was the final season before Season 8 was even a thing) was fucking atrocious.
It also didn't help they made the Mane 7 look stupid beyond repair, to make the younger cast look better. And then there's the Tree of Harmony.
It all but tells the Mane 6, the ones who saved its life, to basically fuck off, and that they're obsolete antiques now and no longer even worth talking to at all. On top of stealing Twilight's look.
Yeah. Real thanks there.
I'll say now, this isn't about the story. But I frankly cannot say a single good thing about Season 8, and 99.999%, of Season 9.
