Honestly, you could have avoid the comic con due to it being a very overused beginning that too many Displaced have followed. The comic con, merchant, etc, is an option, not a requirement to make it a Displaced. You only need to follow "Human A turned into Character B or given powers C before ending up in Equestria alternative universe D"
I do give you some credit for avoiding being turned to stoned cliche though.

I used the comic con as an excuse for him to have created the armor. And Xur was too perfect for the opportunity. My other displaced fic that didnt work out had the main character meet something of an elder god that shooped him away after the Black Mesa incident. So that one was partly in the Half Life mythos. But yes, just seemed like the easiest option for why someone would have put together a full cosplay of exotic gear.
I'm happy to see more Destiny here. I wish you luck on your writing and would love to see more.

This story is, mostly, very well done, but the odd spelling mistake infuriates me to no end! Please find a Beta reader or go over your work before you post it here - The extra time spent is worth it!
Bouncing off of Shortest, I do recommend a proofreader to go over the grammar/spelling. This is an alright story (I've been delving too deeply into the more incredibly fleshed/thought out stories and trying my own hand) but it's got potential enough to keep my interest going.
