Found as an infant, Hugstrong always knew he was different from other ponies, he was destined to be a hero to the world that wasn't quite ready to accept him. He will have to come to terms with being different in ways he never asked for and being used as a tool for purposes he never understood. An RGRE fic. Mostly a wholesome coming of age story with occasional darker themes. Sex tag is mostly for themes and jokes and less for graphic material. Violence tag added for references to violence. My first fanfiction on this site.
Inspired by the works of 2Merr, Anonpencil, LittleBigPony, and others whom I shall add as I remember them.

Word of advice, make some buffer chapters, like write three chapters but only post one, and then post the second when you wrote a fourth chapter, and so on and so forth. I find it helps prevent the stress of trying to constantly pump out chapters if you have that little bit of wiggle room. Also, glad to see another RGRE story here. FIM could always use more of these stories.

This was a fun read. You're pretty proficient at writing and I find myself skeptical that it's your first try. In any case, it was a cute first chapter. Nice and subtle on the RGRE too which I really appreciate. Naming the human in this case also helped with exposition, as it's clearly not a human name and your “anon” is young and adopted, implying he might have been found as a baby.
My only gripe is that the first chapter doesn't set up a direction for the story. You have my attention with the general quality, but you want to entice your readers with the promise of something to come if possible on your first posting. There's only one first impression.

Yeah, it sounds an awful lot like the blood substitute in Rise of Darth Vulcan that was supposed to keep bat ponies from needing to hunt prey. Hopfully unlike in that fic, this red medicine actually works as advertised and won't leave Hugz a malnourished mess.
I'd ask what the "red" medicine is, but I feel like we'll find out soon enough. But can I ask what age Hugz is?

Also, just noticed that his mom used the term carnivore, meaning that whoever the last doctor was was a moron and misdiagnosed Hugz as a strict carnivore when he's an omnivore. They probably don't have omnivores in that world so the old doctor just saw his teeth and said, "Yup. Carnivore, now pay me."

Really hope this continues, this has two things I've been looking for on this site: Harshwhinny adopting and raising a human, and a human boy growing up in a RGRE instead of the usual adult man teleporting to one.
This also raises questions I'm dying to have answers for, like why does Harshwhinny hate Celestia, what roles do the Pie Sisters play in this, and assuming the "red medicine" is actually meat, why does Hugz hate it so much that he cries eating it?

It may be meat, but something what medical meat. It tastes bad, however give a lot of nutritions.
I don’t think Celestia force something bad. He may have problems with health in pony world. For example, he as a human doesn’t have magic, so for him it will be difficult to live in society of super strength , or flying, or magical other things ponies. They put magic in him, who know?
There are a lot of variants. He didn’t change in a pony, when he got in pony world. Sucks to be mortal in the realm of supernatural beings.
