An interesting tale of their backstory. Coherent, paints Luna in quite the bad light, is hard for anyone other than Luna herself to refute, and even she will have a hard time proving any differences. It also covers many of the important points, including both the falling out itself, and the banishment. It will be interesting to see, should it happen, how the stories mesh, and how they clash.
I doubt Pinkie would be very pleased with what Twilight did to that guy,
Uh, damn. If the revelation about Luna didn't paint her as being morally grey, what she did to Spearhead certainly counts. Then again, Twilight in any world is, if nothing else, a quick study. And Celestia a capable teacher. Still, I can't help but wonder if the whole of Celestia's story is the truth. True or not, King Solaris should have stopped to consider if his legacy was one worth preserving. This whole mess Equestria is in would then ultimately be Starswirl's fault for being too Lawful Neutral.

Empress Celestia has been very adamant about telling the truth to this point. I ask you, has she lied to Twilight yet?
This is not confirming or denying the validity of the story. Just a reminder
I was not expecting the chapter to end the way it did, but in all honesty I couldn't be happier with the result.

Its hard to say what really happened beyond lunas mother died a she sold her souls to a devil

A lot of people would say that's plenty to indict Luna. That's gonna depend on the person in question, though.

A bit of an important distinction to be made here
Just like Celestia believes Luna helped with the poison. Both it and the deal with Discord may not have actually happened, we don't yet know.

I never suggested that it was intentional on her part. After living for such a long time, Celestia herself may be misremembering details. That, or her memories could have been magically altered at some point.

Fair enough
I wonder how much of Celestia's tale... is from a certain point of view.
Anyway, great chapter and awesome to see this being updated again! :D
Best chapter yet! I can't wait for more!
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
Another great chapter chapter! I especially love seeing the kinder, friendly side of Celestia. Even as she encourages torture and murder! And, once again, I'm having thoughts. Celestia insisting Luna's mother wouldn't know how to mix the poisons. I could maybe believe that she didn't learn on her own, but that doesn't mean Luna told her how to mix the poisons. Maybe Selena did. Also, nice to finally have an explanation about the Day Breakers. Although if they were made to serve Luna, I do wonder about them now serving Celestia. Me thinks the Empress doth be leaving out some details. Or even lying. Also also, finally some lesbian kissing! *Kazoo noises*
Also also also, idk if my previous message is showing up as deleted, but the reason for that is because my cat legit jumped on my keyboard while I was reading. So I just deleted it so I could finish reading and post this comment.
spearhead deserve a longer and more painful death
An update for this is always a delight. One of the most intriguing and gripping stories I've ever read, and now that we've learned the 'why' of it I can only imagine what Twilight will say/ask of Luna the next time they meet. If she confronts Luna about her deal, will she admit to it? If she does, will Twilight try to prove to her that her deal with the Chaos ruler will end in nothing but betrayal and misery? Will Luna believe her? At some point this will all blow wide open and I can only imagine who'll be left standing.

Doubtlessly Celestia believes every word she spoke. Whether she has all the facts however …
eyyy back in business with the better half. Hell yeah, and whats a little bit of torture between buds.
Such euphoria on how Spearhead got his punishment...
Interesting, very interesting. I still don't know whether Celestia is telling the truth or not, but if she is, it would explain a lot. Twilight's in a very difficult position right now. She swore loyalty to Luna, but now has reasons to doubt her and trust Celestia. Twilight's going to have to make a decision and soon, lest she be torn apart in their sisterly squabble.
Here's my bold prediction: A third party tried to poison Celestia. And whatever Celestia did in retaliation was, from Luna's perspective, the "first strike" in their sibling war. Unraveling that is the only way they both come out of this alive.
