The rest of this story was kinda boring, my dick is still soft, but I did like testing the limits of the contest rules. The moon speak was a nice touch. Thumbs ups.
This might do better with two versions, one without the insanity and one with. Consider it. If you skip the nonsense it's rather sweet.
Also, yes, the most disgusting and heinous thing about this was the unneeded last name. Rarity, Fluttershy, Coloratura, Celestia, Luna. Not everypony has a last name and they don't need one.

It's was a common fan theory back in the first few seasons before they started introducing parents. The Apples are called the Apples so family names were thought to exist in some form. Some people even thought AJ's real name could have been Jacqueline Apple, with Applejack being a nickname or something cause some ponies had two part names like Pinkamena Pie of the Pie family, Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash. Applejack of the Apple family, Rarity, and Fluttershy were the odd ones left out with single names back then and among those AJ was known to be part of the Apple family so back then some people just latched onto Belle from Sweetie Belle as Rarity's family name and Shy as Fluttershy's last name in some fan works.
We have since learned that Fluttershy's family name really is actually Shy.

Yes, but it's not a convention that's followed strictly. We've since learned that a pony can be born Chiffon Swirl and rename themselves Cup Cake. My guess is that Rarity was once Cookie Cutter and became Rarity
But maybe she was born Rarity. If she did have a parent's last name, it made her Rarity Crumbles or Rarity Flanks.

We have learned no such thing. Her parents are not referred to by any names in the episode, and though Mr. and Mrs. Shy were used in the credits, that's pretty much the same as Angry Unicorn #3--not a real name. Jim Miller tweeted repeatedly after the episode that they had not named Fluttershy's parents. And if they're the Shy family, why isn't it Zephyr Shy?

The writers have said they might change the names later but seeing as we're approaching the end that's probably not gonna happen. You don't refer to a married couple as Mr. and Mrs. [child's name] It's usually supposed to be said that way if they shared a last name after marriage (in the real world at least). Also they are referred to as the Shy family in The Elements of Harmony Vol. II guidebook
As for Zephyr not having Shy in his name you could ask the same thing about any of the Apples that don't specifically have Apple ending their name. Big Mac, Red Gala, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, etc. There's also apparently a point where Granny says her parents and siblings were called the Smith Family before they founded Ponyville.
I'm not trying to say the writers had a set of rules and followed a plan for naming everyone because it's fairly clear they didn't do anymore than spit ball it, multiple families have different naming conventions. The Pie's and Cakes all have last names, Apples are all named after types of apples, Twilight and her mother have the same first name, Rarity and Rainbow's families are named for their cutie marks, and Fluttershy's parents aren't even given first names. I'm just pointing out how Rarity Belle became one of the first fannon full names for Rarity. Well all that and also because of the punny nature of the Belle of the Ball that Rarity always sees herself as.
