The Bricklayer

Slow down, you're doing fine, you can't be everything you want to be, before your time... -Vienna, The Stranger: Billy Joel. (Any Pronouns)

Sure, go to the Gala, they said. Get out more, they'd recommended. But really, did she absolutely have to wear this frilly dress out in public? Dragons didn't do cute. She'd be the laughingstock of dragonkind if anyone saw her. Perhaps just sticking away from the gala altogether was a wise idea. Burned away at her, the shame of it all, if anyone were ever to catch a glimpse of her. Perhaps, just perhaps a kindred spirit is what Smolder needed.

absolutely well-written, funny too, gave me a good feeling in my heart. you've earned a follow!

Wearing a suit doesn't seem to be an option for girls in Equestria, huh?

Well, it presumably is... I mean, I can imagine Starlight or Sunburst's mother or even Raven Inkwell (Celestia's personal assistant) in a pantsuit. I guess it's just the occasion that matters. I mean, you wouldn't wear a pantsuit to a ball would you?

I mean Woman's Tuxs do exist.

True enough I suppose. But that'd ruin the whole point and the whole joke/message of this story wouldn't it?

I think if it were given a few grammatical corrections, it would be top notch.

Short, sweet, and downright fantastic!:moustache:

Exactly Tuxes aren't "cute" and the point was about Smolder's embarrassment at likening cute stuff. Maybe some might not like it hear it but tuxes are masculine clothes, regardless of the gender of the wearer.

Smolder instantly became my favorite character from season 8, and I'm thrilled to see writers exploring her fear of being outed as a dragon that likes "cute, silly" things (that is, cute and silly only by dragon standards). One thing that was a little jarring: within the canon of the show, Smolder is not actually related to Ember, according to one of the show's producers. However, I do see the role that a sibling relationship has to the plot of this particular story. Any plans for a sequel to this story, by any chance? :)

This doesn’t read right for some reason

"W-Well, don't expect me to keep it up, b-baka!"

Loved the Character interactions. Part of me wants to see the Grand Galloping Gala with the Student Six now.
