The farmer’s daughter was not Rarity's friend. She never would be, either. Ever.

As they say, a journey of a thousand miles...

A fantastic story! Saw this in my feed, and I knew it was gonna be sad, but I still didn't expect this. Have a like.

Change began with one pony, with her .

Her and Him

I’m sorry for your lost. I to lost many important people in my life. Friends........family. I can understand quite well how much this story means to you. I also enjoyed it because this is true, it only takes one person to change someone’s life

Absolutely outstanding work. This perfectly captured every emotion, every bit of character that I could imagine (or even not imagine as well)...

Similar. I was an Army Brat. My mom was the only one who didn’t judge, didn’t belittle, didn’t hold expectations that I could never meet. We moved constantly, barely in one place long enough to go to school at all. She died when I was 11. I had no direction, no sanctuary, no life. Then I met a guy named Robert and three girls named Taylor. One by one, they came and went. But they left behind a lesson for me. I will never be able to thank them.

Thank you for reading it ^^

It's interesting to see this story told from Rarity's perspective. I liked it even though it was sad.

Nice to see filly Rarity being generous, especially when it truly counts. You've given this a wonderful bittersweet flavour, it really fits the story. Have a thumbs up.
I hope we get more back story about AJ's parents before the end of the show.

A fantastic story. Good work. Have a fave and follow.

A bittersweet story, but still sweet.

I felt every bit of the heartache here. Lovely story.

When someone writes about a subject they know, it comes through. It seems somehow more real, more tangible.
Your loss came through and it was a powerful experience. Well done and I am sorry for your loss. The pain dulls, but the holes remain ever after. The glimmer of hope, that Rarity inspires and the knowledge that Apple Jack grows to become the Element of Honesty keeps this from being a real downer of a ending. Good show. Have a thumbs up and a favorite.

Thank you for the kind words and feedback

This is another one I would love to see continued: For Rarity to try to be a good friend to a depressed and despondent filly seems like both a heartwarming and heartbreaking story.

Thank you very much! :ajsmug:

The farmer’s daughter had returned to being the axis which Rarity’s world revolved around, but not in the same way. Rarity used to wake up wondering what the filly would do to annoy her at school that day, instead she awoke wondering if she had eaten the night before, or talked to her brother, or played games with her baby sister. She caught herself chewing her lip in worry during the teacher’s lectures, thinking of the farmer’s daughter and the sound of her voice. What did her voice sound like again? Rarity couldn’t remember, the farmer’s daughter hadn’t spoken in what felt like eons, but she felt as if she’d give anything to hear it again. Oh how she now regretted all the times she had pushed the poor girl away and shushed her babbling; she longed for that now. She mentally screamed at her to talk, to yell, to sing, to do something that wasn’t blankly staring at a wall or her desk.

This whole story is exceptional, but this paragraph especially stuck out to me.

This was beautiful.
