This story is a sequel to Release

I'm Night Light. My wife, Twilight Velvet, takes care of the needs of two alicorns, though tonight she is specifically looking after a third. While she is away—on grandmotherly foalsitting duties—I have a surprise visitor who needs help. Normally my wife would be the source of that, but tonight I am put to the test to keep one of Equestria's rulers safe from her own nightmares.

This is something soft and calm. Two ponies appreciating something that is amazing.

Sometimes I just need to write something soft. Something calm. Something where two ponies just find a simple bit of pleasure together that has nothing to do with flesh.

There is none of the BDSM of the first story, but I hope someone can appreciate this all the same.

Heh, cute little story. Different from the original but that isnt a bad thing honestly.

9171320 Not everyone is into the same things. Luna didn't need to be punished, she wanted something tangible to lift her life back up and show she is important.

Is surcease a real word?

...I don't get it.

It was cute and fluffy, but the solution to Luna feeling overshadowed and ignored was....to humble her by teaching her about her stars and moon? Luna being a student, and THAT claiming her down...I don't grok it.

9171510 It reminded her of a time when there wasn't an Equestria to defend and fight over with her sister, when they only had each other and their teacher. That, and it was the realization that there are ponies that spend their days doing nothing BUT study her night sky. I didn't really want to have to explain that in the story, since the backstory of Luna already implies both those things so nicely.

I like this story very much! It works well as a sequel to your Celestia story. I had to look up a word or two as well. I love that in a story, surprise me with something I've never read before!

9171944 Glad to hear it!

Poor Luna. I'm glad Night Light was able to come up with this.

She spends too much time cooped up in that palace. Someone should take her out for a night on the town. Not drinking, but there are so many things that happen when the sun goes down. Theatre, astronomy, art, music. Especially the music, songwriters have always been inspired by the night. I've always thought she'd like this one.

9172332 Yeah. This hit me to write on a Tuesday, just before I started my other project. I couldn't avoid it, I had to write it.

Well that's how it goes sometimes. At least you don't have your characters showing up in your dreams... That's always a bother.

9172435 Haven't had them do that for a while, though Twilight has done some strange things a time or two.

This was BEAUTIFUL! I loved your portrayal of Luna! Night Light is a very underrated character and you used him flawlessly. I suspect this is a one shot, but I'd really love to see more lessons between these two. Well done!

9172475 Thanks. I've been thinking about doing one for Cadance. It might be somewhat more (or less) raunchy than the first. I'll have to think on it.

Even though this story doesn't have a sad tag, I think enough is there between the lines to put it in the Sad Luna group. Well done!

That was pretty ingenious of Night Light to have Luna participate in an impromptu Astronomy class. It allowed her to de-stress by engaging in something she loves while also showing her that there are ponies, like Night Light, that spend their lives appreciating and studying her night sky. Loved the story!

There needs to be more of these two bonding over astronomy. Luna's initial emotional state felt a bit excessive, but the interaction was fantastic from start to finish. Thank you for a most heartwarming read.

9504195 Thank you for the kind words.

T___T Some people need coloring books, some people need advanced astronomy calculations.

God my heart.

it's pretty funny that someone teaches the patron (perhaps even the creator) astronomy of the night and stars

9973851 You could say it's her favorite topic, and now she gets to talk to somepony about it for hours on end? Total win!
