God will give me justice/Ending

Three moths later, and Shining Armor walked to the cliffside of the Chateau D'if.

There, he plunged his sword into the ground, and reflected on all that he had been through. Now here he was: a free stallion, whose name had been cleared, and his enemies wicked deeds had been exposed. Though part of him wished that Guild Cadderouse did not need to be executed, along with Neighsay, he partly expected it. Shining had delivered justice unto them, but in the end it was God who claimed vengeance for their treachery. Now all those who were part of that wicked conspiracy were dead, and gone. Never to harm him, or others ever again.

But the price was almost too high as he realized what he had almost become.

"You were right, priest." he spoke aloud. "You were right. I let my hatred control me, and...in the end, it nearly cost me everything. But no more. This I promise you - and God, or The Light, or whatever it's called: All that was used for vengeance will now be used for good. So rest in peace...my friend."

At the same time, Garble approached Shining with Cadence, Albert', Bertuccio, Trixie, Thunderlane, and Pharynx close behind him. The dragon stood behind him, and asked, "So, Zatarra....painful, huh?"

"No." Shining said instantly. He then embraced Cadence, and kissed her forehead - smiling as he saw the crystal ring now on her horn. "I bought this place this place in the hopes of one day tearing it down. But now.....now, the only things I care about are walking off this Island with me. So i'll let it be a reminder of how even the darkest of places can give second chances for a light to shine." He held his friends, and family in a group embrace to symbolize that all were important to him. "Let's go home."

And the group left to return to their new life together. A life that held the promise of freedom, love, and hope for all. The isle would be a further symbol of that as they walked off. For in a single cell, there remained a single inscription. Carefully preserved, and an eternal reminder of what happens to those who suffer the cruelties of this world.

God will give me justice.

And that's the end, folks.

Hard to believe it's been three years since I started this story. Sure, there were a few hiccups here and there, but it was all worth it. Even if I had other projects that took up my time, I still finally managed to finish my adaptation. It might not have ended the way I originally intended, but I think that's okay. Sometimes ideas need to change, and make way for different ones.

What matters is what everyone else thinks. Which is why I thank all of you for following this story, and making it my most favored story in my gallery. I couldn't have gotten this far without your support, and I hope you've enjoyed this story to its fullest.

And if any wrong should befall any of you, may god give you justice.:)

¿ is rumble really bertuccio's stepson in this au??¿ in the book he's adopted because bertuccio found him in a box as a baby. Why did you decide to change that??¿ just wondering. Reading this fanfiction and it's entertaining.

Because I wanted to keep things in line due to me basing this au story on the movie as well as what I read from the book. I had to make some decisions that would ensure this was an adaptation instead of a complete copy of the original story. Granted some details escape my memory because of how long it's been since I wrote this, but I stand by my choices. Glad you still like it, though.

11556314. Okay got it. Thanks for explaining. I wish bertuccio and benedetto were in the 2002_film of the count of monte cristo. Such dramatic and cool chacters, specially benedetto or as i call him "Ben ". Too bad they only got Jacopo as the count's servant.
