This story is a sequel to Harmonics
One year has passed since the ancient spirits Discord and Nocturne returned to the world. Life has returned to normal for Thistleroot and his new friends, or at least as normal as it ever gets in Equestria. After receiving a job offer from Princess Celestia to research new kinds of fauna, he, Scootaloo, and Mimic, return to Greenhaven Grotto, and the newly unsealed Libiris.
What should have been a simple research assignment turns into more than any of them bargained for: ancient spirits, forgotten species, and a war between immortals that once threatened the entire world.

Yes, I stole the chapter title from an episode of Critical Role. After I thought of it I couldn't come up with anything better.
Also, I really wasn't planning on the chapter going in that direction. I sat down just with the intention of introducing the character, but I guess Scootaloo ships it.

So what does Law look like? She's been described to have paws, as well as growl. "Cat-like" and being confused for a lion brings a feline to mind, but I know that it isn't the most reliable descriptor.

From chapter four. In my head I see her being a bit lankier than the sphinx from the Somnambula episode, with a sandy coat and slightly darker mane and tuft at the end of her tail.

I actually had a chapter done about two weeks ago, but it just didn't feel right. Originally they were going to come across the wall of light, and end up going and doing something else, but I just couldn't get it to a point where it felt realistic, after how much I made Mimic not happy with current events, so here's this chapter instead.

I’ve finally reread and caught up with the whole series. I got behind but I’m up to speed now.
I can’t decide if I morally approve of Mimic’s decision or not, but I will agree with its practicality.
It’s interesting learning about all the different spirits and what they represent. If someone brought that idea up to me, then order and chaos I might’ve been able to guess, but I doubt that instinct or deals would’ve ever occurred to me. It’s pretty cool.

As a note to anyone who reads this, you might notice it's been a while since the last chapter, as I'm switching roommates and jobs, but the next chapter is in progress. Promise.

Not updated a story since 2018? Damn... It's probably been like, 5 years since I read this fic? (Even longer if you count the series as a whole), but I'm going through all the old ponyfics I saved links for ages ago for future updates and it still hurts a little bit whenever I need to remove a link due to the fic being on indefinite hiatus. At least the other two fics in the series form an acceptable ending.

Heh, you shouldn't feel obligated. The siren song of real life responsibilities can be extremely seductive, and real life matters more than ponyfic anyways. It's just a shame that so many of my favourite fics must meet bitter ends. (Static World not being completed tears me apart every time I remember it ngl.)
Been going through old stories and I feel bad that I still haven't even gotten to the first sequel in this series. I will, soon enough.
