Overall, a very silly person.

E

Chancellor Neighsay returns from his humiliating encounter with Celestia and Twilight in front of the School of Friendship and thinks things over a bit.

He also hopes that his acting in front of them wasn't too on the nose.

Whoa... brilliant twist at the very end!

Every villain is a hero of his own story.

Agreed and he does raise a few fair points.
Excellent story.

My 2 favorites characters are the same person?!

I love this.

Bit of a Sith philosophy, perhaps unintentional? It fits the character very well!

Here's the funny thing about perception. If you want to assume evil-intent, you will. If you want to assume good-intent, you will. For this reason, there have been genuine humanitarians who have gone down in history as tyrants, monsters, and self-serving egotists. Likewise, there have been tyrants, monsters, and self-serving-egotists who are remembered as humanitarians. What disturbs me most about how such things happen is how reasonable the madness always sounds. Logic is not beyond scrutiny, as logical arguments can make for evil conclusions if done correctly. Stalin, for instance, was very logical. He was also a mass murderer on a scale surpassing even Hitler. What I like about this story so much is that you can understand Neighsay's seductive reasoning. It's the sort of reasoning that, if the broader context was unknown, would make him appear to be a heroic character. And this is why critical thinking and analysis are such essential traits to teach; we must be able to look at the words and deeds of those who hold power and question whether the good they claim matches what happens in practice. Or, to put it more pithily, you shall know them by their fruits.

By showing the villain's side so well, you make this point rather subtly, which lends it a greater power upon reflection. Well done.

I think you have the right of it, here.

Excellent. I love Neighsay and Sombra. Cool to see they're the same here. I was totally expecting to see Chrysalis, though. :derpytongue2:

I take for the purpose of this story, Sombra was never banished with the Crystal Empire; instead, he kept a low profile until he felt secure enough.
Then, Sombra tried to make a bid for its throne once the curse lifted....and got his flank kicked.

OH SNAP didn't see that coming

Great work! I love villain perspectives in stories. I also really like the twist at the end. I featured this on episode216 of my podcast, Pony 411.

I have to say that was one hell of a twist...
