I – and Starlight Nova – were referencing Fables the comic series by Bill Willingham (?) where all of the characters of fairy tales, myth, nursery rhymes, etc. were forced out of their world by the Big Bad and are hiding in a little magic ghetto in NYC. I had completely forgotten about the B&tB Tv show. Mostly because I was 10 when it debuted. I wasn't quite the intended demographic (says the 40 yo brony). I vaguely recall enjoying the MAD magazine parody of it though if that counts for anything.
